Hold onto your jimmies cause this place is bloody amazing. Everything tasted like it came from the kitchen of the gods. The pancakes were so light and fluffy it was like eating clouds. AND DONT EVEN GET ME STARTED OF THE TOMATO SAUCE. EVEN THE GOD DAMN TOMATO SAUCE TASTED AMAZING. TOMATO. SAUCE. Service was fantastic. I think this is my new favorite place. P.S I will be dreaming about that tomato sauce tonight.
Taken here for my birthday dinner and had the lamb after the spiced nuts. Love the seasonal approach! Great wine list too. Attentive friendly service and lovely food.
This is one of my favourite places to go for drinks and nibbles in wellington. The cocktails are delicious, they have a seasonal menu but if you are there and they have the loaded fries they are a must!
So yum!! We went here to find donuts and we sure did đ lemon meringue and salted caramel popcorn. Really cool little spot for coffee as well.
Tasty food in this little place. Not massive servings which is nice. Friendly service and helpful. We sat outside which was noisy but better than inside with the close seating. Coffee was ok in flat white form but not as a short black.
Staff were very friendly and attentive. The food was delicious. The tables are quite close together which doesn't allow for much private conversation. Plates are quite pricey but the quantity of food was generous.
Amazing every time. The rice cakes are so great. The passion fruit tart was also delicious. Always great food and service. Itâs very cool how every time I go the menu I different, never disappointing!
The food was delicious and service was top notch! You can't go past the loaded fries! Highly recommend dinner here but make sure you book as it's a small restaurant.
We were here for dinner on a weekday. Food was beautifully cooked. Angus beef cheek braised to tender perfection, not sure if the peanut pesto on top did anything though. The celeriac served with it was okay. Braised paua and shiitake dirty rice was creamy and flavourful, absolutely delicious. Loaded shoestring fries with crispy lamb were great as well. Fries were crispy and flavourful, but perhaps the topping overall was a bit too salty. Service was friendly and attentive. Really cozy atmosphere. Overall, definitely worth a try.
Nice place for a brunch.
We came in at 11ish and it was nearly full. We could either order the food from the menu or from the cabinet. The food we ordered was quite traditional but they were fairly good.
The price was reasonable and the size was just in good proportion.
I hadn't been to Egmont Eatery for a while and noticed the interior decor and layout had changed which looked amazing. The service was top-notch. I can honestly say that it's one of the best attentive restaurant service that I've ever experienced in Wellington. The waitering staff were friendly, helpful and able to answer all of my questions about the menu and food options, which is how it should be.
The food was incredible. We started with the comte (cheese) souffle and focaccia bread, which was very different but amazing. For mains we had the grilled octopus, spiced lamb ribs with a side of asparagus. You could see how much effort had gone into each of these dishes. They were all delicious and the asparagus was perfectly cooked.
For dessert we had the poached pear. This was probably our least favourite dish of the night as the pear was quite firm. I was expecting the pear to be a lot softer and easier to cut into and it would've been great if it was accompanied with a yummy caramel/butterscotch sauce.
I'll definitely be going back there.
The cornbread is so good I went back for brunch twice in one week. Great service, lovely place to sit with coffee and food and a book. Accommodated a peanut and shellfish allergy with confidence.
Had a great experience here while visiting Wellington. The place was busy so we took bar stools by the kitchen, which I would recommend as the chef still made time to chat to us about the food, rugby and other things. We felt very welcomed by him and the whole staff.
The food was top class. Definitely try out their homemade preserve. Could not recommend this place enough, a highlight of Wellington from two Irish tourists đ
Food was really lovely, especially the gnocchi.
The fries were not fries, they were more wedges of different shapes and sizes - some on the cusp of not being cooked inside. The menu read it would be served with aioli and instead they came with a homemade tomato sauce. Not a big deal but it would be nice to know if the menu items drastically change to whatâs written.
Service was okay, we werenât greeted warmly but service improved over the course of the meal when another waiter attended to us. The correct cutlery wasnât served with my meal, I had to ask for a spoon (fish dish). Not deal breakers but when you are literally the only guests dining Iâd have thought there would be more attention to detail from front of house and the kitchen.
My partner and I had a fantastic dinner at Egmont Street Eatery. The service was beyond amazing and the food was excellent. Did I mention the staff was extremely kind and knowledgeable of the menu too? Two hours of dining experience flew by so quickly, and thatâs a testament on how well they paced the food coming to our table. We will definitely be back!
A lovely lunch was enjoyed at Egmont Street Eatery by myself, along with my husband and two of our adult kids. We booked online and were seated immediately by the lovely waitress who informed us of the specials and took our drink orders. Husband and I ordered the fish, Tarakihi (Devine!) Our daughter had a Prawn Poke Bowl and our son the Waffles with Bacon. All of the meals were delicious, the service was exceptional, and we enjoyed the surroundings. I can Highly Recommend Egmont Street Eatery and we look forward to returning soon!
Loved every bite! Great food. Everything was cooked to perfection. Delicious entrees. But the highlight of the dinner were beef and pork - simply to die for. Outstanding service as well. For me, Egmont Street Eatery is the best dinner restaurant in Wellington, and the closest to fine dining experience. Can't wait to dine again.
I donât know why it took me so long to try this place out! Stellar food, strong coffee and outstanding service.
We enjoyed the smoked potato hash and the avocado toast. Sorry for no photos, we just inhaled the food as it was so good!!
I was also impressed they had a separate GF menu which made reading the menu so much easier!
Definitely will be back.
We came in for dinner last night and the menu was fantastic. The crudo was my absolute favourite with the flavours balanced beyond perfection but I also loved the gnochi. My partner ordered the tartare which I'm not normally a fan of but this version was great and very clever. The atmosphere, service and overall experience was just delightful with the team being more than helpful especially with our dietary requirements. Will be back soon =)
Everything was cooked to perfection at the Egmont Street Eatery. The steak was the best, the fish was soft and tender. The side potatoes, the starter and even complementary fried chickpeas were delicious. Thank you for all your effort, we'll be back when we are in Wellington again. Also, that cocktail was amazing! Well done.
