Review Seize Cafe - Wellington

Hollie O'Neill
Couldn’t be more satisfied with my smashed avo and dukkah on gf toast. Super fresh and a very generous serving . The fresh squeezed apple, orange and lemon juice was also delicious. Thank you!

Delicious food! My only problem is they always sell out of salad before lunch is over and they turn off the coffee machine a bit too early. Also, I wish they had another cafe down the other end of the city.

Lots of gluten free options! Nice to have such a range of options. However I’m assuming the management has changed since early reviews on this profile. A lot of old reviews and food don’t match the experience nowadays. But they do still offer a range of GF things so it’s a good option for those with allergies.

Love this cafe, great vegan and gluten free options, sweet and savoury, healthy with no compromise. Quite reasonably priced given its niche, and friendly service

Small and nice cafe with friendly staff working there. Even in the morning it's packed with people having mornibg coffee and breakfast. I particularly enjoyed the atmosphere and their service and I think I will visit there again when given chances. Super nice.

Yum, yum, Seize, superbly placed across the road from Les Mills Lambton Quay, is a brilliant health-savvy treat. Superb menu that's been cleverly thought out to ensure the uninitiated aren't intimidated, but that healthier are properly catered to. Tumeric waffles and vegan summer are stand out options. The cabinet treats and select your own salads are sure to make for the perfect choice for someone. If only passing through, grab a smoothie that will make all your insides feel good. Go here to enjoy easy, healthy and delicious options without and of the pretense and enjoy a good slice after a filling brunch.

Worth the slightly higher price and wait in line - Seize is a delicious and healthy option for breakfast, lunch or snack. Serves Flight coffee (at a cheaper price if you don't need a takeaway cup) and plenty of smoothie choices.

Healthiest food in NZ!

Amazing vegan and non-vegan food beautifully served. Heap of tasty raw treats too. Highly recommend the bene and snickers slice

A quality alternative food cafe compared to most city cafes. The barista coffee ☕️ and tea selection 🍵 are excellent. The vegetarian options are broad and made to a high standard. Portions are large and presented in the correct plates and bowls 🥣 👌 Keen to eat here again in the near future!

My favorite in the area! Best option for the healthier foods, not too much healthy options in the area, and this cafe was amazing! Great service, and delicious food! 👌

Nice small Cafe, simple decor but friendly staff and quality food. Overall a nice place to have your java!

Best place for gluten free in town. The Turkish eggs are amazing!!!! But lots of vegan options too.

Beautiful Paleo Breakfast.... would recommend this place to people on diets or who are searching for healthy breakfast options 👌🏼😍

Fresh healthy lunch for a good price. Definitely get in early as they run out after 1pm and the line gets long. Their smoothies are very tasty to

Small but great selection of vegan, vegetarian and gluten free. Gets busy at lunch time. Really friendly staff. Plenty of salad selection, juices and some hot food available. Couple of wee tables out the front

I haven't found a place better than this in Wellington to cater for alternative diets, from keto to vegan. They can do it. I really like having places around Wellington than can cover it no sweat rather than one option otherwise you're making substitutions all over the place. I can recommend the ommlette as well as the salad bar that they do as a solid and filling breakfast or lunch any day.

I love that I have so many options here, and the salads are great but I don't love the prices. I'd eat here more often it was more reasonable. For now it will have to remain an occasional lunch option.

Had such an amazing experience here. Such fresh and healthy food, with options that suit many dietary requirements. Would definitely come again!

After seeing such a high rating on Zomato, this did seem like the place to go for my first meal in Wellington, but overall I was a bit disappointed in taste and substance of the my order of waffles. Unfortunately the flowers doesn’t save the dish. Came off a bit dry and flavourless and left the place still hungry.

I am still undecided about this place. It took me years to visit even though I passed it daily - it lacks street appeal. I finally visited after a work colleague recommended it. The staff were amazing and the main reason I would return. The food hasn’t convinced me to go gluten free/ vegan or anything in between. It just lacks taste. It’s also terribly overpriced.

Carpe Diem. Seize the day. Or at least seize a bite to eat from Seize.<br/><br/>I frequent this wee gem because I can eat 90% of the menu. I'm gluten free and vegetarian so going to Seize is like going to healthy paradise for me.<br/><br/>The place is minimalist. A few tables, a big massive table, a cabinet with salads, another with sweet treats and that's it. But I don't go for the atmosphere here.<br/><br/>The food is outstanding. My go to is the Vegan Bene. Yep... let's take all the good things about an Eggs Bene, deconstruct it, make it vege friendly and then construct it. With tofu. I kid you not, try it.<br/><br/>The sweets treats are awesome. They look like all sweet things should... deliciously evil. But they're as healthy as you will get for what they are. My favs always change because everything is good, but the snickers inspired slice is masterclass.<br/><br/>And of course, what would one of my reviews be without a mention of coffee. They use Flight coffee which is becoming a staple here in Welly. I love the nutty flavours, depth of colour and smell each cup brings. Wonder if I could get an IV line next time.<br/><br/>This place won't be for everyone but if you're slightly adventurous or health conscious, give it a try. You shouldn't be disappointed.

Very pricey for what some of the things are.<br/><br/>The overal aesthetic of the cafe is very appealing, however, a few times certain bites here have been average. I often go for the Golden Glow or Green Protein smoothie. Often nice but sometimes for some reason can be hit or miss and seems as though an ingredient has been left out of the drink. <br/><br/>The salads are pretty good.

I am a passionate Wellingtonian foodie. I decided to try this café for a late breakfast - undoubtedly the worst I have had in a Wn café in years.<br/> <br/>I arrived and ordered a brunchie breakfast with coffee. The waitress who served the coffee slammed it down on the table and left without a smile; when I asked for sugar, she sullenly returned, without a word and slammed that down on the table too, then turned on her heel and left. No response to my cheery, “Thank you.”<br/> <br/>The coffee was ok – just 6/10.<br/> <br/>The breakfast – poached eggs – rock hard, kale, a green hollandaise which tasted weird and awful; two small pieces of bacon that had been fried to a burnt husk; potato hash-cakes – (fried, oily, luke warm, greasy). 2/10<br/> <br/>An unfriendly, bad food, bad eating experience. I emails lived in France last year – that is what I came to ex I am a passionate Wellingtonian foodie. I decided to try your café this morning for a late breakfast. Great cafe focused around healthy food. Tried vegan benny and it is mind blowing. The taste is incredible. There are variety of smoothies and other cool things also. Highly recommend.

Got the smoothie bowl and waffles.<br/>Love that seize has many vegan and gluten free options as there aren’t many dedicated solely to this in the CBD. Smoothie bowl was delicious, waffles were good but a little soggy/dense in the middle. Overall, delicious food (even if a little pricey) and would go again.

The food in Seize was alright. I ordered the smoothie bowl and that was tasty. However, every staff here seems don't know how to smile. They just stand there and didn't greeting people at all.

Awesome experience at Seize! If you're looking for a healthy and filling breakfast or brunch this is a great place to go! Doesn't leave you feeling overly full, but energised and ready today's the day!
MegWantsVeg
I ordered a very nice lunch here, vegan summer. A 'poached egg' made from coconut and pumpkin, such a nice surprise. Definitely worth a visit when in town. It's not a vegetarian place but they cater for vegans very well so it's a great place for people wanting healthy alternatives not necessarily vegan only.

This place came highly recommend however unfortunately when we went for breakfast the food selection was poor and the food was freezing cold, the restaurant had a dirty feeling about it

My health conscious daughter and fellow foodie was eager to show me one of her favorite haunts, and I can see why: fresh creative salad based to make up salad bowls with whatever options you fancy; healthy, yet tasty treats to satisfy your sweet tooth; wholesome smoothies and much more to cater for almost everyone. Friendly service, great decor (I love their wall menu), and lots of people watching space! My smoothie could have been colder, and the Snickers Slice sweeter, but that's just me. A must visit when in the capital!

My experience at Seize today was perhaps the worst I've ever experienced -- both in terms of service and the food.  I have been to Seize once before, and the first time I went I absolutely loved the food.  Today, however, was awful.  I ordered the carrot cake waffles with high hopes, waiting well over twenty minutes for my food (the first time was well worth the wait).  After taking just two bites of my food (which didn't even taste good) my mouth began to burn and my tongue and throat began to feel puffy.  Understandably, an adverse reaction to food could happen to anyone, but that wasn't the issue.<br/><br/>Despite not touching my meal and glancing over at waitresses, it took ten minutes for me to finally wave a waitress over (and considering the small size of the place, that's truly saying something).  (In those ten minutes I tried to drink water to help the burning, but the water jug remained empty.)   When I asked the waitress what was in the food, as my mouth was burning and I was having a bit of trouble breathing, she acted as if I was inconveniencing her and at first did not even come around to the table, requiring me and my partner to talk to her across the room.  When she finally came over she didn't seem alarmed, offer to help me, or apologise.  She slowly listed out the ingredients and after I told her I wasn't sure why I might be having an adverse reaction to the food, she shrugged, said "oh okay" and then left.  She didn't ask if there was anything she could do for me, just huffed and walked away.  <br/><br/>After that I left Seize with my meal almost completely untouched, as I was unable to eat any of it, and only as she saw me getting up to leave did she call out, "oh, sorry!" as if that could help.<br/><br/>I am completely disgusted by the poor service at Seize and will never be returning.

Staff are genuinely friendly and the place has a nice atmosphere. Yep young and fashionble and so what? I am oldish and unfashionable and I like going there. Coffees really good compared to many and as for price.....I do not see it any different to others and if you take the whole quality package including outstanding well prepared and balanced tastes, well for me this is good value and not dearer than anywhere else in Wellington.<br/><br/>I fully recommend you ignore those looking for philosophy and enjoy great food with or without animal products......I have had both for breakfast and highly recommend both....mmmm

A decent, healthy meal of a delicious selection of fruits for my smoothie bowl and my friend's Apple crumble waffle to start the day. Pretty pricey but would come back to try the cakes.

Fabulous vegan cafe. Friendly staff, and the food is great! <br/>A new favourite for me that I enjoy visiting with friends. They even have almond milk coffees. Will definitely be coming back :)

Good to see raw juice bars finally catching on in Wellington. Open during the weekdays only - 7-3.30pm. This one is in a good location in the CBD. Nice layout, fresh and clean with a modern look. <br/><br/>Standing room only at lunchtime so if you want a seat get their early - you may have to share a table. Not the cheapest bite, mainly due to portion size, but happy to pay for good quality, fresh food - seem to do organic too which makes it worth it. <br/><br/>Nice selection of dishes, juices and raw deserts. I had the raw vegan burger - $17.00, raw cake $5.00, and a juice forgot the price of that - but not OTT. Portions not huge - probably due to the - healthy = small portions of nutrient rich food - philosophy, so if you want to feel ‘full’ you need to add courses and the price escalates. If you are veggie or vegan this is a place with stuff for you. It seems they are unconfident in Wellington clients ie) they must think people won’t eat there if it is perceived to be ‘veggie’ so they have on their main board, a ‘Add a bit of Decadence’ list which should read ‘Add a bit of death’ to your dish list. Basically, you can buy a lovely, fresh, organic plant based dish then add a variety of different dead animals to it for an added cost so if that’s your thing then you can get it at Seize. <br/><br/>Would I eat there again? Definitely, but not every day.

I am vegan and have only been for a few months and whenever I have gone into town with friends or doing a little by myself I have never found a really great vegan friendly cafe until I found seize through I friend!! <br/><br/>Seize is such an amazing place once you get they system of how it flows, I ADORE their food from a range of healthy salads and smoothies which are AMAZING! to a little treat of mostly vegan cakes, raw cheesecakes and slices<br/><br/>Even though it is more expensive than other places it is so worth it and anyway shouldn't we be taking good care of our bodies so we can thrive? I think so, to me even though I'm a broke student still at school I will spend any amount of money when it comes to health and seize is definitely worth it x1000 <br/><br/>I so recommend eating there it is my first choice, if only they were open on the weekends

I decided to give the trendy organic salad bar another go. The first time I tried Seize it had just opened and I was a bit confused as to how it worked. I found it quite expensive and looking back it was probably just because they were just getting their business model up and running.<br/><br/>A good few months have passed and on a sunny Friday decided some good, local and organic produce seemed like just the ticket.<br/><br/>There was a line out the door to order, with the seats outside and inside full.<br/><br/>It probably only took me a couple of minutes to get the counter, which was time I needed to decided what to order. <br/><br/>They have a nice choice of juices, smoothies, salads and breakfast style dishes on the board, which states that they try to source local and organic ingredients where possible and build relationships with local farmers – which is great. They don’t tell you however which of their produce is organic.<br/><br/>There is also some yummy looking raw/vegan cabinet food and a selection of teas, coffees and cold drinks like Kombucha<br/><br/>I decided to try the smoked chicken salad ($13): House smoked free-range chicken, seasonal greens, tomato, chili buckwheat, cabbage and pickled cucumber with sweet paprika aioli.<br/><br/>The woman who took my order was friendly. It was quite busy and probably took between 5-8 minutes to get my takeaway salad.<br/><br/>Sadly, again I was a bit disappointed with the salad, for the price.<br/><br/>There was a good amount of smoked chicken and it was tasty – not too overpoweringly smoky. As a lot of people probably care most about the meat this was a good portion.<br/><br/>However there was hardly any buckwheat (probably about a 1/8 of a cup) and it was somehow both hard and chewy.<br/><br/>There was also not much salad itself – a couple of bits of tomato and probably less than a cup of leaves, a few bits of pickled cucumber, a little bit of red cabbage and that was it. <br/><br/>The aioli was really tasty though and I like that it was on the side in a separate pot.<br/><br/>In my opinion, even though they try to use local/organic ingredients, it’s overpriced. It’s obviously really popular, but I personally wouldn’t go back, at least for a salad. The smoothie/juice looked nice, but again quite expensive (although comparable to Tank prices) but I will probably go back to try a bit of beetroot and avocado chocolate cake!

Recommended, but variable, reasonably pricey and possibly slightly more fashionable than warranted. <br/><br/>I don’t know why its called seize – perhaps as someone suggested from “seize the day” or perhaps “seizure” as a result of caffeine overdose. Certainly the web site is non informative as to name or philosophy – just photos of a lot of serious 20-30 yr olds pretending either to be having great fun queuing, watching a floorshow of a staff member, or intelligently considering every mouthful in terms of carbon units. No-one seems to be enjoying the taste of anything.<br/><br/>The section of the Seize website labelled “What we are about” simply says “clean eating” which might lead one to hours of internal philosophical discussion analysing the daft (designer clever) ambiguity of the phrase. Certainly the vegetables arrayed in wooden bins as part of the décor are remarkably clean – far more so than anything at Commonsense organics. <br/><br/>Seize’s website portrays the café in terms of image rather than substance. The philosophy is not explicitly stated –it is left to the imagination - but its photographs convey an impression (cleverly) of everything that is currently fashionable for a younger demographic – paleo, vegan, organic etc without actually falling into any one category. It treads a clever line between health and fashionability. <br/><br/>It is an image that Auckland knows well, but, will it wash in a more discerning Wellywood? The Auckland “unbakeries”, repleat with something-free or raw, tap into a fashion that is frantically groping for health and immortality, trying to abandon animal based gastronomy (questionably), cruel farm practices (obviously), genetic engineering (probably) etc. They place their woes on meat, gluten, cow’s milk, cooking, and refined sugar. Yet each of these except the last, have contributed enormously to the development of homo sapiens and civilisation – you may no doubt debate that, and we are all entitled to opinions.<br/><br/>The café itself is vaguely Nordic, clean white, pine, semi industrial with boxes of fruit and vegetables lining the walls. Seating about 20 or so people inside on small and a larger shared table. Chairs outside also. Music pleasant, coffee – Flight. The cabinet items looked very good. Individual salad ingredients that could be combined, a blackboard menu of bowls that looked interesting and certainly every fashionable ingredient from the now passé quinoa to maco powder was listed somewhere. There were chia drinks as well as what must be the most on-trend drink - coffee kombucha (which is actually seriously delicious – but is basically a fermented coffee soft drink).<br/>Seize labels each item on its blackboard menu with a code according to whether it is paleo, vegan, dairy free, gluten free or free of refined sugar. So it is possible to decide which ethical/dietary item you need according to all manner of psychiatry, philosophy and pathology. It does not tell you the calorie content of anything – and this, to my mind, is the only serious thing that is likely to effect the majority of people – that and your genes. The fact that something contains no refined sugar is largely irrelevant if it contains an equivalent amount of unrefined sugar. Cafes promoting well-being should start to promote low calorie deliciousness.<br/>Now the purpose of my first visit to Seize (I've made three) was not to analyse its place in the world of ethical “clean” eating, but to see if it could make a cup of tea. Tea is a symbol of unfashionability, simplicity and care. I am increasingly coming to the opinion that the ability to make tea is a good measure of a café’s worth. <br/><br/>I firstly sought to determine which teas were available. <br/><br/>There were Libertine teas (blends), Tea Horse Road teas, there were flavoured teas …. but the only black tea was an English Breakfast Tea (although Tea Horse do a couple of interest) … I humbly asked for it, feeling, for all the world that I was relegated to the also ran’s of cool. To save face however, on my first visit I ordered a “cacao goji macaroon.”<br/><br/>The service was lovely, a delightfully pleasant lady took my order and I felt awful resisting the “Rock Ohm” tea, or “Kapow” from Libertine that she was enthusing over. <br/><br/>I was not asked about milk.<br/><br/>While waiting for the tea I read a sign which seemed to come closest to some philosophical statement in that they “source local ingredients, use organic when they can [perhaps might be stretching it here based upon my observations of the back wall fruit and veg] and build relationships with local farmers.” <br/><br/>The macaroon came first – more like a truffle – slightly dry, crumbly and with a musty taste. I assumed the latter was intended, and was a result of the goji berries – amusing how we savour bad tastes and smells if we assume or are told they are desirable – some cheeses are an obvious example. I don’t know the macaroon’s origin but possibly house made, and possibly “little bird”. <br/><br/>The tea came in a rather large (3-4 cup) stainless pot, half full and containing a single tea bag. The accompanying thick ceramic cappuccino cup was warm. The young lady had no idea as to the brand and indeed I could see it had come from an unlabelled plastic container.<br/><br/>The milk came in a small glass and it contained three small black-brown floating bits, which, if organic, I hoped were dead – after all I was “clean eating”. I tasted it and it seemed OK.<br/><br/>The tea when poured was of a reasonably good colour, little character, mild astringency – it tasted like tea bag tea. Possibly it was one of a variety of EBT that had better ethical credentials – Fair trade and Planet?. The temperature faded quickly. <br/><br/>On my tea scoring system (see my Astoria review)  I gave Seize 12/30, well behind the current leaders (Louis Sergeant and Clark's on 19, Kilbirnie's The Little teapot and Silverstream's The Fig Leaf Cafe on 18 and both Le Maquis and Chocolate Frog on 17).<br/><br/>I’ve been back twice since, trying to get a feel for quality. Once for breakfast and also brunch. Breakfast was the Granola, which I think is brilliant. Sprouted buckwheat and oats with a coating of cacao (the fashionable way of saying cocoa), and a topping of greek yoghurt, then a compote of rhubarb (on one occasion) and strawberries (on the next). It was seriously good – and it “felt” healthy.<br/><br/>For a brunch it was ceviche on a salad. The fish was great, just the right degree of flavour and texture, but the salad was boring – I tossed up whether to finish it – lacking in a dressing that said anything to me.<br/><br/>The coffee on these occasions was well made, good flavour, unburnt, enjoyable.<br/><br/>All in all there are some things that seize does well – clearly the philosophy is on the right track but it would be useful if it was more intelligently articulated. The food is good, the coffee is excellent. it's reasonably pricey and the high calorie cabinet is best ignored. Basically I liked it.

The name of this place encourages you to seize the day, but is the food a good catch?<br/><br/>Had a quick meet up scheduled with a friend so dropped by this cafe for the first time. The place is open and bright, but quite small for an establishment in the heart of the CBD. The blackboard menu adds a nice touch. <br/><br/>We ordered the passionfruit macaroon, apple smoothie, kale and goji smoothie, and the raw <br/>peanut butter and jelly cheesecake. <br/><br/>Both the smoothies were awesome, although the kale one was a little too thick so it eventually got a little hard to slurp through the straw. <br/><br/>The bad part, for me, was the cheesecake. First of all, there was no cheese. Maybe I didn't read the description on the menu properly, but I think it only said "raw", not dairy free. Either way, I think "peanut butter and jelly CAKE" would have been a more appropriate name. Also, it was too nutty for me; I think it had peanuts and cashews, and only a little jelly in proportion to everything else. The redeeming part was that the texture was good, definitely passable, but I didn't finish it, and wouldn't order it a second time. <br/><br/>Showstopper: We met the owner Mike briefly, he was really nice and humble, and a super friendly guy. <br/><br/>Overall grade: B. Heard their salads are superb, so would definitely return to try those.

Have been the last two mornings-IN LOVE! Had breakfast and also picked up lunch as well for myself and my partner-Which they made especially for me as it was 7.30am. Food is delicious and so fresh. Service was wonderful-The English guy is hilarious and gives fab service.

Loved this cafe. Organic raw foods. We got 2 salads they were fresh and had a nice combination of flavours, however they were a little bit plain. The raw peanut butter and jelly cheesecake was amazing thought, it did not become too sickly and you could taste the premium ingredients, quite pricey but I think it was worth it!

Seize has delicious, reasonably priced, healthy, varied food served with a smile and a chat. The decor is simple and focuses on the food they provide, fresh and nutritious. I cannot fault Seize except that they're further away from my work than i'd like! Keep it up friends, love your work!

Was really looking forward to going here! It was Friday lunch time so may have been a busy time for them. I ordered the acai bowl, which was really tasty but would have liked it to be a little thicker. Really enjoyed the decor and healthier style menu!
Bunny McBritches
Takeaway only!<br/>Good tasty wholesome food, reasonably priced. I had the acai bowl and shared a cheesecake. Very tasty and filling. There is a range of good vegan and gf food. But there is a big downside to this place - the service and ambiance. Kitchen, right next to the seating area, is very noisy with sound of blenders and other machines which makes it hard to hear yourself think, let alone chat with friends. Seating area is cramped and uncomfortable with long benches and tiny stools pushed together. We had to almost climb past other patrons to get to some seats. Our server was fine but what annoyed us was the fact that when we arrived there were 5 people queuing to order but all staff were in the kitchen, ignoring them. <br/>I would recommend this place for takeaway only. Don't tout yourselves as a cafe if you can't provide a comfortable space for people to socialise. <br/><br/>I'd give the food 5 stars but the atmosphere was so bad that it seriously affects my review.

It was my first time going to Seize last Friday. My first impressions where the staff are very nice, the interior design layout was subtle, and earthy looking. <br/><br/>The food is a perfect healthy option. Mainly salads and the odd naughty raw slice. I had the Vegan Sticky Slice which was mouth watering! I ended up by taking another one away to eat later at the airport 😋 <br/><br/>I do however think that the staff could be nicer when delivering the food. I also ended up by sitting outside because their weren't many seats inside.

After reading all the reviews, I decided to give Seize cafe a try. Ordered the lemon infused smoked chicken salad and a mocha today. Both food and drink came quickly. First of all, service was friendly and efficient. Coffee was great! The salad was definitely so fresh! Crunchy cubes of apple, baby spinach, and basil pesto went well together with the smoked chicken. The parmesan wafer gave the dish a nice touch and texture. Definitely will come back for more!

This is the second time being at seize. I like the concept of a healthy cafe, and I will admit that the smoothies and juices are pretty good. But it goes pretty downhill from there <br/><br/>To be honest this will probably be my last time at seize. I had the acaia chia pudding which was alright, but I wouldn't come rushing back. The presentation of the food is pretty bad compared to how it is portrayed on Instagram. My friend ordered the acaia bowl which was garnished with slices of mandarin....? Very strange choice of fruit to compliment a berry flavoured dish. <br/><br/>The cabinet food looks pretty nice and I probably would return to try it, but other than that I would not dine in. I find seize a hyped up cafe, hence the low rating

This was my second time coming to Seize after a pretty average first experience. The interior is decorated nicely but it is a little cramped which is less than desirable when busy. <br/><br/>I chose the acai bowl which had an improved presentation from last time when my friend ordered it. It tasted nice and I liked the pineapple on top. I also ordered the Optimism juice which was really nice although a bit pricey. <br/><br/>Overall, an above average experience at Seize. The meal was better this time, but I don't think I'll be returning unless it's to try the cabinet food.

Easy to find, but if having problems look for a queue out the door. <br/>Lovely fresh food and able to cater to your whim of dietary needs. Love the tea smoked chicken, always moist. Pricing is good value.<br/><br/>Only peeve is that it is always so busy, so seating in an issue. Get rid of those boxes protruding from the wall and create. some more seating.  <br/><br/>Outside heater would be brilliant as well. <br/><br/>Service is quick, though could not call it friendly.... More efficient.

A very tidy place. I had a raw raspberry cheesecake. It's not the way you think as a cheesecake. As it's vegan and gluten free, the taste isn't so cheesy and sweet. The base is made of nuts and seeds, which solved my constipation problem today!😝 the cake is $8.5 and worth the price. Will go there to try the ferrero rocher tart next time!

So in love with this place and am very grateful to have discovered it as so far Wellington has not really kicked it off in terms of a health food scene. Love all the raw cakes and granolas as well as the chia puddings available in the cabinet but the menu is also spot on with a bunch of fulfilling wholesome salads and bowls as well as the option to add things such as free range smoked chicken for those of you who, like me, only eat meat which they trust is sourced ethically. Smoothie and coffee menu is also insane and it's probably one of the only places in Wellington that I've seen who offer other dairy free milk alternatives apart from soy. 10/10 (5.0)
Victoria Parker
Breakfast menu here is limited but each item sounded so good we found it hard to choose. I went with the breakfast salad with poached egg- surprisingly filling and great quality ingredients. Perfect way to start the day
Mind The Crumbs
Finally a cafe with a strong focus on fresh, healthy ingredients. I love the minimalistic style, with an open kitchen, long shared tables and fresh food on display in wooden crates around their cafe – It gives the cafe a very honest and open feel. You can find a range of smoothies, juices, salads and a clean sweet treat to finish everything off. They even provide almond milk as a milk alternative for your coffee. <br/><br/>This place gets a pretty hectic lunchtime rush and getting a seat can be a bit of a mission – especially with the shared tables being so closed together. I ordered the turmeric coconut ceviche salad with quinoa and a little raspberry coconut macaron to finish off. When the salad was placed in front of me it was much bigger than what I was excepting. Packed full with greens and quinoa, and a good amount of fish to match. The raspberry raw macaron was beautifully coconut-y and a light sweet way to finish.<br/><br/>I can not wait to try out this place for breakfast one day and try some of their smoothies. <br/><br/>Sarah Reynolds #challenge

This place is one of my favourite cafes in Wellington. It's relatively new to the block, but it's making quite an impression. After I go for a workout I head here and choose something new to try (there's always something new!)Today was stuffed eggplant, a ceviche salad bowl, mango vegan cheesecake, and a vegan snickers slice (don't worry, that was between two people). The food is beautifully healthy, fresh, delectable, and visually gratifying. The atmosphere is chatty, airy, minimal, and the service is amazing. My only peeve is one of the tables, which is ill placed and everyone needs to squeeze passed. However, the fact that I can eat two slices and not feel guilty far makes up for this!

So excited to discover this eatery today. Everything is fresh, colourful and appetising.  Food which looks this good and is healthy should be 'criminal'. Indulged in a Paleo Apple Crumble with Coconut whip today - delicious. Will go back to buy the book and try something else tomorrow.  I really have to learn to take a picture before I eat.  Next time.

Had an awesome experience at Seize today - the mushroom and spring onion soup was so delicious, as was the apple spice smoothie. To top it all off, when my smoothie was a bit late (which was completely understandable, they were very busy at the time) I was given a complimentary raw macaron which was also next-level tasty. So two thumbs up for the food as well as the excellent service at Seize! Cheers!

I just discovered Seize this week and have visited 3 times already. I am really excited there is a healthy, modern option at this end of town. I'm the kind of person who likes to eat nutrient rich whole foods, I shop at Commonsense organics and I avoid sugar, processed foods and gluten because I believe they inflame the body - but I'm a normal looking person who works In a corporate office. So when I don't have time to make my lunch for work there aren't too many options.<br/>They are friendly! Already the man who takes my order greets me by name (he remembers from when I placed an order for a lunchtime pick up) and I've had random, genuine chats with the chef and the owner. My husband went by himself on Tuesday and had a coffee, and when he went back on Thursday they greeted him with the question "another flat white today?".<br/>The food is not just healthy, it is delicious! For three days in a row I have had the "immune" juice (something like beetroot, carrot, greens, pear, lemon, ginger). There are at least two other juices on the menu that I am keen to try, but I just haven't been able to go past this one yet. I had a salad from their pick and mix options which I'd be happy to eat everyday as it was better than what I could have done at home, but I do like to have a good portion of protein so the next time I had the quinoa burger (no need to ask to hold the processed white bread bun because it comes wrapped in lettuce). Everything was so tasty. My only regret so far is that I haven't yet tried the "guoc" that you can add to any dish. Definitely doing that next time.<br/>They are only open weekdays, but if I was to take my 5 yr old there in school hols then their date scones or other similar options would go down a treat with him too (he doesn't get excited about having kale and zucchini in a salad like me),<br/>Some of my work colleagues find it pricier than other lunch options, like a salad at Habitual Fix or Tank (DIY salads at these places have previously been my back up lunch option), but that's not comparing like for like. I prefer the locally sourced, organic, quality ingredients and that does cost a little extra. (Plus it's actually a tastier option).

By way of context, let's just say that I didn't choose to be in Wellington writing foodie reviews on my weeknights after work. I'm here for business, and missing all my friends, established routines and favourite places to eat and drink. While I haven't tried everything on their menu (yet), this little cafe constitutes at least half my weekday nutrient intake. I've been to loads of fancy restaurants around town (I live out of a hotel, so trust me, I always eat out), and this one offers the best balance of legitimately tasty, healthy and creative food. While I'm surprised it isn't blessed with an abundance of reviews, I understand it's new and hasn't yet establish the cult following it genuinely deserves. This testimonial is primarily my gesture of gratitude to the people who have been (and will continue to be) my NZ feeders, and secondarily an altruistic act of community service to those fortuitous local beneficiaries who are reading and inadvertently being tempted to give Seize a chance.

This place is such an amazing new spot that had just popped up. I love it. The salads look amazing. I am so excited to come back soon and test out the new things on the menu.
