Kafe Oranje

Great coffee, great food and great service!
The Eggs Florentine was smothered generously with hollandaise and the chicken panini was super tasty!
Nice krema on my long black aswell!
The staff were funny and friendly, always a bonus 😁

Lovely Dutch cafe with friendly staff. I enjoyed the beef croquette but wouldn’t mind a bigger size. The apple pie was delicious one of the best I have ever had.

I think people could have different experience. For me this cafe is the place for me to have latte in Plimmerton. Dutch owner I presume. Very diligent and I see their clientele grows every day. Nice latte and decent food. Recommended!

A smartly planned café with plenty of variety, both in its menu and its seating arrangement.
I went here for lunch with my family.
We ordered the chicken salad (fresh and delicious), open chicken sandwich (delicious bread!), lemon fish, Chicken pasta (best of the lot!) and a vegetable panini.
Definitely a must try!

We occasionally find ourselves driving north on sh1 having missed our morning coffee - where to stop??? Between Wellington and waikanae there aren't many cafes close to the motorway. The cafe at pataka in porirua is good,but it's a few minutes away. Other than that it's probably plimmerton where there are two cafes - just a few seconds off the main road. The first, opposite the railway station is cafe oranje. It is orange.- difficult to miss.

The second cafe is about 50 metres along the same road at the roundabout.

We've been to cafe orange three or four times - usually for coffee and something sweet en route North. On the weekend we stopped for lunch.

You can eat inside or out, or on the pavement outside. Ambience is good - homely. Cabinet food is good and there is a small selection of Dutch food including those honey stroop biscuits that are nice placed over a cup of hot tea for a minute or two and allowed to go slightly gooey in the middle before eating.

We ordered trim caps. They were made perfectly - in fact they were probably the most accurate rendition of a European cappuccino I've had in New Zealand. The texturing was deep and the surface fine white foam. It wasn't a flat white which is what most caps in godzone are. Unfortunately the coffee itself was extremely average - Bruno Rossi - in fact that's a lie it was extremely disappointing. If cafe oranje gave this barista a packet of flight beans it would be the go to place for coffee in the region. As it is, for coffee, I'd go to the other cafe where the making isn't as good but the beans are clearly better.

Between four for lunch we had waffles with bacon and maple syrup, eggs Benedict, corn fritters, and a frikandel with fries.

Waffles were generous, good bacon and the combination with a big pour of maple syrup was guaranteed pleasurable - and it was,

Fritters were crisp and soft in the middle with good texture, nicely cooked with a very corny flavour.

Eggs Benedict : reasonable but timid quantity of hollandaise, slightly undercooked white of egg.

Frikandel is a Dutch sausage without skin that is deep fried. Well flavoured, firm texture, interesting,a good example of one of the Netherlands favourite takeaways. Worth trying if you haven't already. Served with fries (it's junk food remember).

Service superb , extremely pleasant and helpful.

So a curates egg - good/reasonable food from nice people in a pleasant ambience with well made but very average coffee. On balance if it was just for coffee I'd go up the road and if it was for lunch with food I'd go to oranje.
