One of my favourite hangouts since 2011. Friendly team, great coffee, and a menu that caters for most tastes. Only place in town I have found this far that makes their lemon honey ginger from separate ingredients. Highly recommended.

Cheese Scone Review
Good size, not too big, not too small, just right. Somewhat rustic looking. Very nice crunchy exterior. No herbs, no discernable cayenne, lots of cheese. Light salt. Texture is a little on the dense side, somewhat rubbery due to the level of cheese. Nice finish.

I love this place. Their coffee is to die for and their food is really good also. I wish they had larger coffees though, not that theirs are small, I just want to drink more than I should because of the great taste. Ha ha

This place is awesome. The cheese scones, the date scones, the lemon and date scones, they're all soooooo delicious! The other food they have is great too, and it's evident that there is love put into the mix when these guys are baking and cooking the food. AS a regular customer, I have found them to provide very good service, and a well priced and diverse menu range. As someone mentioned earlier, their Bibimbab is bloody lovely, and the $10 Burger + Fries options good for later in the week.

Very disappointing experience. Service was very bad. Ordered a cheese scone take away no offer to toast it. Also got a oat slice which was burnt on all the edges. If you over cook something rather remove the burnt edges and don't serve them to your customers.

I've been eating at Legato for years. Â The food is consistently excellent and so is the coffee. Â I've never had anything other than great service. Â I particularly recommend the Bibinobab; the cheese scones are justly renowned. Â Ginny is a great cook, and it's nice that they hire university students to help out - helping young people get an education.

We had lunch here, a great location and a nice spacious cafe. However, one of our meals took so long to warm up in the microwave, I had finished my meal by the time it was finally brought out. This was despite a trip to the counter during the wait time, to see what the hold-up was. When the fritatta was finally brought out, it was so hot it burnt my husband's mouth and the lateness of service meant he was late for an important business meeting. I made my displeasure known in no uncertain terms, but no one came to discuss our complaints with us, the waitress just walked off. In the end, I left a note on the table, something I've never done before. Their attitude is shocking and we definitely won't be returning. The food's very average, anyway.

Ginny and Juno who run the business day to day work hard to keep the counters full of yummy and fresh breakfast, lunch and snack options. But what really draws us to the cafe are the delish!! cheese and date scones. Both are really the best in Welly and sadly I am hooked on both.........ahh which one to choose today?? If you like something a bit different - try the oaty ginger slice - very healthy looking, tasty and filling.
