Tried the new version of this cafe today. Fresh and clean inside, great service and heaps if menu items. We had chicken 'salad' with poached eggs and steak bits and mushrooms on sourdough - both delicious, steak was top notch. Will head back for sure.
This place is closer to where I live and I love their coffee. We've had their big breakfast & found they charge too much for what it is. Nice small courtyard out the back. There's a group of men that either sit there or outside the cafe, kinda mafia looking older men smoking and having a good yarn. I wouldn't go here for food, just coffee.
I had a big breakfast and hot lemon tea in the courtyard one time, nothing special really but a quaint experience. There was a big group of I am guessing Italian or something older guys in the courtyard while I was there having coffee & ciggies and having a good conversation, I was amused I felt like I was in some sort of Goodfellas or The Godfather set. They were gentlemen tho--JUST LIKE MAFIOSOS IN THE MOVIES! lol
Found this place on the internet. Coffee was great, meal was well cooked and fulfilling and decor / seating is ideal. Exactly was I wanted for a Saturday lunch. Everyone I dined with had a really satisfying experience!
I come here quite often as I frequent Kilbirnie quite a bit. It's a great place to go with friends and family as there's a courtyard round the back which is great in summer and smoker friendly it's equally as lovely inside with beautifully polished wooden floors. The food is fantastic very filling and full of flavour. The customer service is always friendly you always get service with a smile here. I always order the spanikopita with a side salad which always hits the spot and goes well with a coffee. This a great little social place and it has a nice atmosphere. I recommend Carlton Cafe especially if your looking for a hearty meal,good coffee and conversation you won't be disappointed.
We go there regularly for nice food, our favourites being the bacon and egg croissant. The people who work there are efficient and pleasant. There is a nice private area to the back of the cafe too for when the weather is fine. We would prefer a stronger coffee with less foam on top but otherwise we are happy at the Carlton.
Excellent greek experience. I wouldn't mind if the decoration were more greek, but the ambiance is quite nice, soft greek music playing at the back and good service. The food, the important part of the experience was really good. The starters were as big as a main dish, so when the Mousakas arrived, I was satisfied but I ate the whole plate, it was delicious, I couldn't stop eating. Highly recommended.
