Visiting family and this place was recommended. Hands down the best, freshest fish n chips I have had in a long time
I haven't had fish n chips in a long time so thought I'd give Gibbo's a try as it was highly recommended to me. Well I was very impressed. Tidy and clean shop with a few tables inside, but they are definitely spoilt with the stunning setting outside looking over the harbour out to Whale Island. Staff were friendly, very generous portion sizes, crispy batter and crispy kumara chips. Never had such nice kumara chips before. Best fish n chips I've ever had. Best part is sitting on bench seats outside enjoying the meal with beautiful view. Highly recommended.
Very decent fish & chips on the wharf in Whakatane. Lots of options for fish other than just 'fish of the day' and the usual deep fried selection of fritters, sausages, burgers chips & other seafood plus ice cream and drinks. They do have some seating inside with high chairs available, overflow seating upstairs, there's a fishtank you can watch while you're watching for your food. There are a couple of picnic tables outside on the wharf if you want to eat straight away.
