Man this place has such good food! If you dont like spice ask for no chili salt. We do so love it! Been a few times. Excited for their summer menu. Such great service too. Everyone is so lovely and helpful.

Nice venue, good for groups. Food mostly designed for sharing and was tasty overall and reasonable for the price. The Baos was a favorite. Large selection of cocktails and drinks. Would come back for sure.

Comfortable atmosphere, attentive service and a delicious soft shelled crab burger. Drinks were ordered at the same time as food, but my cocktail arrived so late, food was almost finished! Menu looked interesting, so I'll give them another chance

Awesome experience having the bottomless brunch!!! Fast, friendly service. Yummy burgers, great drinks!!! The price was great per person. A definite must do for those who haven't tried.

I feel obliged to leave a review because of the stellar service I received from India and Sarahsha. Had the bottomless brunch twice now and WOW! Not only is it great value for money, I was lucky enough to have the two ladies serve our table both times. They were super friendly, accommodating and fun! I highly recommend Astroboy and the bottomless brunch. Thanks ladies. Will be back for sure!

By far my favourite place. Gluten-free options and vegan options and a changing menu keep this venue exciting. The staff are lovely and accommodating, and the drinks menu is fun to get through. The aesthetics of the venue are artistic and calming. I really enjoy that there's so many seating options, choosing whatever vibe you feel

Thought we’d give this place a go since it was new! It has very “Auckland” vibes to it. There are two entrances, the main one on Bank Street and one near the car park behind the Municipal Building, which has free parking after 6pm. On arrival you pick anywhere to sit and order your food and drinks at the bar. The decor is super cool and there are a few different types of seating options to choose from as well. We came in to try the food because the menu looked awesome, very cool Asian fusion style foods, and that was good but the service was kind of average. Portion sizes were decent and food came out in good time. We ordered three things to share - the squid, fried chicken bao buns and a soft shell crab burger. Highly rate the squid, bao buns and the sauce that the burger/chips come with but would pick a different protein for the burger next time - the soft shell crab didn’t taste right. Pricing is on the slightly higher side given that it’s “snack food” options, but our food came to $56 for what we ordered and that’s reasonable split between three people. We did find it a bit too loud, and the waitress made it feel like she was in a rush to get us out. Kept checking on us and wanting to clear our plates ASAP even though we hadn’t quite finished yet. Other than that, it is a cool new spot with a neat atmosphere and keen to go back on a slightly quieter week night and try other things off the menu!

Loved it. Prices are great. Tasty as Kai! Definitely a winner 🏆 Also, the bar staff are on! Drinks selection is the goods! Especially the cocktails

Quite Sunday afternoon drink and meal with friends, this place was an exceptional choice. Music is just at the right level. Food 🤘🏾🔥😈 crisp pork belly boa 😋 yummy, my drink tall and pretty was amazing. Astro boy beer on tap very nice.

A great place to relax over food and drinks. Very open with a large and varied seating arrangements. From bar stools to inbuilt wall mounted seating. Nice lighting and easy to wander around. Friendly staff

Great atmosphere and lovely staff. Food is amazing and affordable, unique and decent sized cocktails for the price. Loved the squid and pork belly bao.

Quite nice set up. Food takes a while when it's busy. We waited 40 mins for our burgers so just keep in mind if you go. I would recommend booking a table if you can as they don't really have many and you might end up missing out. Food was yummy and portion sizes were great. I got the pork belly burger which had this amazing salad and sauce and heaps of pork belly. Only down side was our food was pretty much cold when it arrived and cold chips arent the best however the spicy sauce with the chips made up for it as it was fantastic. Hopefully next time we go it won't be cold otherwise I probably won't go back. I believe they are understaffed too as looked to be about only 3 wait staff on and was fully busy.

Awesome to have more of a selection here in Whangarei. Astroboy does not disappoint! Hit a busy night and the wait time for food does get a little long but so worth the wait! The Cheeseburger spring rolls as well as the Mac n Cheese dumplings are a must. Friendly staff, awesome atmosphere. Highly recommended Astroboy for a great night out.

Had the most amazing meal with friends here in mid July 2023 - cannot recommend it highly enough. The food is incredible (and such good value), fab service and amazing art installations and decor. A Whangarei treasure that's worth the drive up from Auckland for alone! Do not miss the cauliflower bao buns, and thumbs up for the cool Matariki dishes on the menu when we went, the hangi spring rolls were pretty special!! Keep up the great work Astroboy :)

Must have been too busy enjoying my birthday meal with great company to take more photos. First impressions were WOW! I'm in retro heaaaaven! Funky old school music greets you as you walk in, as does a classic dollar coin games console with hundreds of favourites which is perfect for after meal fun. Delicious cocktails and an indulgent food selection with a few gluten free and vegan options too which hits the spot perfectly! This here to the right is the best fried chicken I've had in my life with ginger circles to garnish, Japanese slaw, and fries that remind me of Barfly days but hooooweee they could do with less of the spice that was on them 🥵 My poor friend almost needed the whole bottle of water after they were finished! All in all though a well worth it experience. Cheers to you Astronaut Sam Tarrant, you have created something truly unique in these crazy times and I commend you. That beautiful old building is once again shining hospitality goodness that has been carried on from those before. Keep reaching for the stars mate!

Came into astroboy and got an awesome warm welcome, I had a server named polly who was absolutely amazing and so kind, she made sure I had everything I wanted and that I was comfortable. The guy on the bar serving our drinks was so professional and had really great customer service providing the specials and made us feel really welcome, amazing drinks and amazing food aswell. Awesome place will definitely be back for another awesome evening
