We had our wedding reception here and it was amazing. The food was fantastic! The best wedding food ever !! The service was fantastic and everyone was very accommodating, making a relaxed and easy going atmosphere for all our guests. We were so impressed by how special everyone made this experience for us. We had a fantastic dinner this evening (24/12/2015)... we had the Postmasters platter and cheese puffs to start. As main dish we had a parpadelle, fish pie and toasties with wedges for the kids. It was all excellent !!!
A very lovely location with waiters and waitresses the most friendliest I’ve met in South Island! They briefed us through the entire menu and it was so exciting being able to dine with people so passionate about their food and produce. We ordered the postmasters platter and adored the homemade oatcakes, chutney, the cheese from down the road, beautiful selection of breads and dips and olives as well as the salmon and venison, mm-mm! Dessert was a simple sorbet and raw cheese cake. We left very satisfied!
Every time we come to arrowtown we always go to the postmasters, as the food is always great and the service is excellent. We went there a couple of nights back and it was excellent
Excellent food.They serve a limited menu but each item on the menu is distinct in taste and flavour .There is something for every palate .We just walked in without expectations .cheerful .friendly and efficient staff .I would recommend The cheese puffs ,The Buddha Plate and The Fish Chowder.
Had dinner here and the food was just devine. We ordered the seafood chowder and mussels for entree. For mains we had the lamb and vension and they were both delicious.
This was our second visit this trip. Again, we were warmly greeted and well looked after throughout our meal. Perfect ambience for a chilly Arrowtown evening. Two of us had the beef fillet which was consistent with the previous meal. Good balance of flavours. Excellent cooking. Sad that the waitress mixed up the delivery of the dishes, giving the wrong diner the rarer piece. But we sorted that out for ourselves. Our third diner ordered the venison which was cooked perfectly and presented well. Dessert choice is good and the torte was much enjoyed. Wine cellar a little limited but we got by on some local beers.
Very tasty breakfast and had wonderful service. Sat outside in the sun which was very relaxing. Would definitely go back if I am ever in Arrowtown again
We were so hungry and we went there for the breakfast. The tea was really good and lovely. I had bacon and eggs. The poached eggs were fine but the bacon was a bit dried and burned. But generally the atmosphere is homey and cosy and I will go there again.
Saw this place on Zomato and decided to try it for lunch. The service was exceptional by this lovely women who was greeting all the guests. I ordered the mushroom pappardelle and hubby ordered soup. Both were delicious and the wine list was impressive too. No regrets or complains! Thoroughly enjoyed our lunch and wine. The freshly baked garlic bread was really good too. Will visit again!
Since the snow kicked in, we thought it will be a good time to visit Arrowtown! Walked pass this place several times in the pass and always wanted to try.
There were several big groups walked in just before us, but we were greeted and seated in no time .
The coffee arrived almost straight after we ordered. Surprisingly even we placed our order after the big groups, our meal still came out very quickly!
Both my friend and l enjoyed our meals! Fresh ingredients cooked to a very high standard! Especially the sausage and the bacon! Delicious!!
This place is situated at the middle it town on a beautiful spot! The place itself is beautiful and cute!
We would gladly return to Postmasters again!
Very pleasant and relaxed atmosphere. Good kids meals, and a delicious share platter ideal for a lunch for two adults. Would happily come back here!

Was here first time in 2003, then 2nd time in 2017, and today 3rd time in 2023; NEVER dissapointed! Fabulous food and services, especially today with the best sunny & brezzy weather. Nothing to ask more, we were just right at the best table outside enjoying ourselves with food and atmoshere around. We had 1 share starter, 2 main dishes, and 1 share dessert. Total damage was NZD $100, which roughly is about USD $80 for two persons. Reasonable when compares to everything here. Highly recommended.
Nice restaurant with great food and very friendly service. The BBQ Beef Brisket with Turkish bread was delicious, flavourful meat BBQ sauce n gherkins combined very well with the crispy bread. The Pan Fried Gnocchi was out of this world, very flavourful on its own and the napoli/pesto sauce and black olive brought it up another level.
Food was very tasty, front verandah was pretty and nice for a November evening feed in the sunlight. Service was faultless. Though, my hunger was not sated with the small serving of lamb received (2 small discs pictured). For the price of $45nzd, I could have bought and slow cooked a whole lamb shoulder to feed 20 people for the same size and price. Kumara was nice but also small serving. Partner's gnocci was delicious and decent serving size. If portion size of lamb dish was double I'd have given it a 5/5. Cheese puffs were tasty too. The chilli jam was perfectly spiced.
“The best fish and chips I’ve ever had”
We visited this restaurant on New Year’s Eve day. We loved that the menu was very inclusive for gluten free people! The staff were super lovely and prompt. The food came out quite quickly. It’s a lovely location to sit and take in the world around us. The menu is quite affordable and delicious.
A delightful wee cafe in the original postmasters house. Great breakfast menu the food we had was delicious and great portion sizes. Hell we even washed it down with a cold beer at 10am. Friendly staff fast service. A must stop for a good meal.
Very nice restaurant. Our group had a choice of soups. I had the seafood chowder, and my wife had pumpkin coconut soup which she let me taste. Both soups were excellent. Our main course was a sandwich divided into four triangular parts. Each triangular sandwich segment was different. Each was very good. The venue was tastefully decorated, clean and neat. The restaurant was divided into multiple small sections. This design reduced the ambient noise level so that we could chat with our table mates easily. This meal was included in the price of our tour so I don't know what it would have cost.
Everyone at our table enjoyed their meal. I recommend this place.
Such a lovely setting to sit outside in the beautiful sunshine and enjoy a meal. Fantastic service from the wonderful staff especially Deva, definitely 5 stars for customer service..thank you Deva. Food was very good, we had the squid, Fish and chips and the chocolate lava cake. Highly recommend..
A beautiful spot for a Fathers Day treat. Great atmosphere, nice and warm by the roaring fire! Good menu, with lots of choice and yummy food. My daughter loved the pancakes. Friendly service staff.
Had the pleasure of visiting Arrowtown last weekend and came by this wee cafe! We were hoping to have seafood chowder based on what we've seen on the internet, sadly this isn't available (on the menu in cafe). Not much options too but that's ok. We tried wee snacks and weren't disappointed. Kumara chips was greatly enjoyed by my mates and I personally loved my dumplings. What made it even more exquisite is the sauce it came with, god I almost asked for its recipe lol ! Just delicious. Anyone visiting Arrowtown should drop by!! They also have live bands on lunch :-)
I had the falafel with taziki and aubergine and capsicum salad. Excellent falafels. Not full of herbs but tasted great. I had an excellent local Chardonnay. I sat outside.The weather got cool and the heaters were turned on making it very warm and comfortable. The meals of the other diners' near me looked great. I'd definitely eat there again. Sorry, unable to upload my photo.
