Couldn't be a better place to have authentic Spanish food! Awesome food, service, environment, and the owners are the friendliest people I know. Plus the location is in the perfect spot! Really recommend, bet Spanish restaurant in Auckland
Delicious food and great service! We'll be back! An excellent place to drop in for lunch, dinner or a snack. Yummy churros!
Saw that they have a $15 paella lunch special and simply could not miss it!
Ordered seafood paella, which was very yummy and for extra $3 only added sangria too! It was amazing:)
Totally recommend!!!!
Had the most amazing take out dinner last night !! So good after all our lockdown food haha. The roast lamb is so tender it’s to die for, we added the Jamon and manchego platter, to start and the meal came with salad and the best bread. My friend had tortilla de patatas and we shared the chicken bites and patatas bravas. Awesome meal.
The Spanish tapas here are delicious. The Sangria was refreshing and the food all came out in a good amount of time. Lovely service too and would suggest asking the waiter to explain the menu in more detail to get a good idea of the items! Absolutely loved the meatballs with fried potatoes as well. Will be back!
Situated downtown Auckland, Madriz is a central location with easy access. They boast an authentic Spanish menu with absolutely delicious flavors and combinations and they're canape style plating and menu options make them great for sharing. 3 mains and 3 beverages totalled $90 so decent value for money :)
Everything is ao good, loved the cheese starters!! Great place for drinks and food, with nice music! Fiona and Juanma are great hosters, they are always there to help!
Tried the lamb, we wait for around 20 minutes. The flavour is fine, but not over our expectations. Roast potato tastes better, I felt the lamb is a little dry.
Loving the food. Staff was so helpful and friendly. Will definitely be back. The lamb dish was incredible, my favorite is jamon. Sooooo goooooood
Really love this place and the staff, always very genuine and knowledgeable, beautiful wine list and food on offer. Would recommend to anyone for a relaxed drink or dinner 👌
I’ve recently been basing myself in and around the inner city streets of Auckland.
With new establishments popping up all over the city, you often needn’t go to the same place twice, unless it gives you reason to do so.
Doing just that is Madriz situated on Auckland’s well-renowned Customs Street.
Time-pressed, I made a quick search on Zomato for new establishments in the area and fortunately stumbled upon this Spanish-influenced eatery.
Ideal for lite a bite and a couple glass Spain’s finest, I asked four friends to join me at this new tucked away gem.
Easily walked past, Madriz could be missed as you stroll past Snickle Lane but that’s exactly what creates its humble charm.
What’s more, the front of house staff members were extremely friendly even though it seemed they were in the ’rush’.
When I visited the place was so full I had to stand but even that didn’t distract from the enjoyable experience. Would definitely recommend.
Roast lamb and authentic Spanish restaurant, good tapas, sangria, the churros must try and if u like paella remember to pre-order:) finally the real Spanish cuisine in Auckland!!! Amazing wines and they do take away 👍😊🇪🇸💃
Came by here for some Saturday evening tapas and can swear this place is the bomb. For three people, the $75 deal on tapas is very good value and gives a great showcase of Spanish cuisine. The paella was so delicious that we ended up finishing it before I could take a photos Come here and you will be blown away.
Appart from the slightly lacking atmosphere and waiters being split between two dining room, we had a wonderful evening at the restaurant. Food was delicious and reasonably priced, and authentically Spanish (which isn't east to find on the other side of the world).
Definitely recommend giving it a go if you want some good Spanish food, and/or share some plates with family, lovers, and friends !
Great tapas hidden down a lane in Auckland but well worth the effort finding it. Super friendly and delicious food.
Can't praise the guys here enough.
We were only after a quick bite but ended up staying for the atmosphere and the rioja!
Authentic Tapas & Pintxos Bar Run by the lovely Kiwi and Spanish Couple Manuel & Fiona. Ideal place to share a lunch or dinner with friends and family. I tried the Spanish Cured Ham, Spanish Anchovies, & roast Lamb Tapa was really good and filling. Excellent selection of Spanish wine is available too. Knowledgeable Fiona can recommend something to your liking.
Amazing night our with my girls ! Great service. The people were super friendly. Great prices for what you get. Food is very delicious. Will definitely come back again with more friends !!
The Lamb dish definitely a must try. The prawn tapas was pretty good. Our waiter was friendly and helpful. The only let down was the paella.
Me and my husband went there to celebrate our 5 year wedding anniversary. Upon arrival they greeted us with such warm smiles and great chat. They even gave us fresh flower for our anniversary which was so sweet of them. The staff was super friendly especially the Spanish girl who hosted us. She was extremely nice and made us felt so welcomed. We ordered the seafood paella and it was AMAZING! Exactly what I was craving for. Me and my husband didn't talk for 5 mins just busy eating and enjoying the great food lol. We had absolutely fantastic experience there definitely recommend this place. We had such wonderful time there thanks Mandriz!
Best Spanish and Mediterranean food in Auckland. Amazing spanish wines and beers. Pintxos are a must with beer. The cured ham is unique! Cheese menu is very high quality too. A Spanish flavor on the kiwi island. Beautiful. Attention is super friendly too. Warm staff. I came back almost one year after my first here and have to say, I love the renewal, more space and even warmer welcome, the quality still great, the food here is so good I had homemade food memories 🙌
Massive plate of lamb meat; so tender with an amazing jus.
We caught them on a busy day so they apologised beforehand that it might be a little slow but they made reasonable time considering it was only 2 staff. Also apparently you have to preorder the meat as it takes 4 hours to prepare. We were lucky they sometime make extra.
The potatoes are to die for or to cause arguments around who gets to eat the last one.
Would recommend only 1 salady side probably the Mediterranean we had the tuna and it was unfortunately overpowered by the flavour of the lamb.
Love the food and lovely service. Recommended to everyone..who love Spanish cuisine.
