Grabbed a beer and a cocktail here after work before dinner. Cosy little hole in the wall venue. Cool decor and good music.
Priced for the cbd . Liked my cocktail probably pop by again.
Happy hour menu looked appealing
I ordered the miso glazed salmon bowl, which is a colourful and healthy looking dish. It was very filling. I enjoyed the salmon and edamame beans, and the ginger/onion gives the after taste a nice finish. One thing I want to point out is there was too much rice in proportion of the other ingredients in the bowl, but then again the price is inexpensive. My friend ordered the BBQ Beef bowl and it also looked nice. The kaarage chicken we ordered as a side was served first, and this was tasty. Well-seasoned and goes well with the mayo and a glass of beer.
The place is small and gets busy especially with office workers looking for lunch, but once you get the attention of staff you are served promptly.
After working upstairs, a quick trip downstairs discovered this amazing little spot! Value for money was the first thing I noticed! Sharing the kitchen of ebisu meant the food was full of flavor and style! A much recommended lunch or dinner location!
Cosy venue. Fast and friendly service. Tasty food and drink options. Japanese bar with a nice vibe. Great option for us as a pre Eden Park stop.
Awesome staff! Shout out to Izy for having a sick music taste! Quality casual Japanese restaurant with nice food and nice vibes. Very nice cocktails.
Came here for a drink and some nibbles with a friend last night. Small but cool atmosphere and it was pretty busy when we arrived round 7 but eventually we were the only people left. The calamari is yum and they give a good generous helping of Edemame beans too! Another time I came, I had the roast duck taco and that was delicious too. Highly recommend!
Good place, reasonably priced for it’s location and food quality. I got their teriyaki chicken bowl for $14 at lunch time and it was pretty good. My friend had mixed sushi and liked it as well.
Came on a Thursday night for canapes and drinks as part of Savour + Switch. We were served their Seared Hokkaido Scallops and were blown away. Their Hikari cocktail was the perfect starter drink! Hubby and I are keen to come back soon!
Lovely atmosphere and definitely a good spot for late night snack and drink. The snack price is quite reasonable. We had the pork bun, beef taco and chicken popcorn which were lovely. I would prefer the bun then taco. I think the taco was alright but not very special. More than anything, I enjoyed the Umu- plum wine here. Not many places in Auckland that you can find serving plum wine.
Quite a cozy find of this compact Japanese sushi place. Besides sushi you will encounter more authentic flavours.
Really enjoy standing in front of the sushi bar and pick up your own choices. Salmon nigiri, egg roll sushi, inrai pocket nigiri, spicy yellow fin tuna and of course the cliche California roll are all delights to your tastebuds, and eyes.
We would like to explore a bit further. So the tempura fish taco with curry paste and the teriyaki tofu donburi came into our mind. Taco is made on site and the fish batter tasted crispy. I enjoyed my colourful bowl of teriyaki tofu Donburi, piled up veggies seasoned with shichimi(Japanese spicy power), you need to discover the cute Fried tofu and the rice buried beneath the veggie salad, which made us feel like an exploration for flavour fun.
Service is attentive and fast, for lunch time it was packed however you can always choose your own sushi put it in an organic take-away box with chopsticks and eat it in the sun.
Btw, Fukuko has a good selection of Japanese whisky. Next time wouldn't mind try it to mingle with fried chicken. JK:)
This little hole in the wall is hard to find, but if you do, you'll find a casual selection of popular Japanese whiskeys (not top shelf, or rare, but still great for a common drop). There's ramen, deep fried chicken and lots of nibbles to be found. The atmosphere is casual, dark and intimate and on the weeknight I went, was really nice - not noisy and laidback.
Awesome staff, delicious ramen. Egg was perfect! Chashu pork sliced up pretty thickly but so full of flavour. Nori chips were liberally coated in wasabi powder, very spicy, very tasty. Would recommend.
Extensive cocktail and whiskey menu.
- Great Cocktails - Nagasaki Sour 👌
- Chicken Karage 👌
- Chicken Teriyaki Donburi - Good mix of different flavours
- Tonkotsu - Great, but prefer to have soft-boiled over hard boiled and a spoon to scoop the soup 😜
Would highly recommend for a late night drinks with some wholesome food to keep it chill
I had great fresh snack food (Japanese style fried chicken with garlic mayo) combined with professionally made Negroni. Very friendly and knowledgeable service. Good music was playing at a comfy volume for a modern place like this. Some Mexican Japanese fusion on the menu too!
Amazing selection of Japanese ingredients and house infusions. Alessio is crafting incredible drinks in Auckland. Must visit.
The food was really good. The steamed pork bun was super soft and had great flavour. Good balance of sweet, and savoury. The roast duck taco is also great. The duck was tender and was really impressed by the Asian take on a soft shell taco. The atmosphere is nice inside and they have a good selection of Japanese whisky and spirits in general.
Delicious food and cocktails! Very quick everything. I'd definitely recommend it!
Cool, smaller sized Japanese cocktail bar. They have fantastic array of cocktails, as well as a small selection of imported Japanese beers, and some cracking Japanese whiskies. Food isn't "traditional" but fun and tasty and not too pricey either. Be sure to grab a plate of the Fukuko Fried Chicken and a taco or two.
Nice staff too. Only minus is their odd opening hours on weekends, otherwise I'd be there all the time!
Cocktails are a 10/10. While there may be a few small preference differences, it still shines pretty well deserving of a 5. Delicious ramen and duck taco, but pork bun was quite dry by itself (they've got a suggested sauce for it though). Some chairs need repairs and the high tables are a little awkward to sit at with their layered iron bars. Couches looked comfy though. Front of house staff were super friendly, attentive, and helpful.
We had an amazing time here! The bartender was the sweetest and makes the most amazing cocktails. He makes his own infusions which is super cool! Definitely great for people who like to try different cocktails.
