Upon entering this place through the main entrance it is a tad bit confusing. I think the cashier use to be there but now it’s at the bar area which is further in. The interior was pretty nice with the wooden theme and nice plate presentation. However, seemed a bit tacky having the white paper cut out sheets to line the table. I get that it’ll be easier to clean but didn’t match with the overall presentation of the place. Window sills were quite dusty too.
We ordered 2 curries which had good flavour and standard pricing, however it was very watery. I know Thai curries aren’t suppose to be really creamy but this was more like a soup consistency.
Edit: didn’t know there was unlimited rice, I thought they charge per scoop so would’ve been nice if they told us
I used my gold membership here so good value. The workers seemed annoyed that I presented it at the end of the dinner. I know that in the terms and conditions it says to show it beforehand but all other places I’ve been to always say to show it at the end. This place also requested ID and questioned me as my zomato name isn’t the same as the one on my license... lol but they still accepted it so my bad I guess I should’ve just followed the zomato rules.
Sawadee is the best zomato gold experience we've had so far.
We ordered the green chicken curry and prawn pad Thai, both came with generous portions. The chicken in the curry is so thick!

My Favourite Thai Restaurant in Auckland.
I’ve been visiting this restaurant for more than 6 years now. Great location and ambience with amazing food.
I always order the same menus tho, yellow curry and deep fried snapper fillets.
Its a combination that no one can hate, even for kids with picky taste.
I also love how they charge u only $3 for like unlimited rice.
Used zomato gold for dinner at Sawadee. Because all my friends highly recommend here. Environment was pretty nice and makes me relax. Service pretty quick. Food was all delicious, especially the fried chicken, it's super tasty！
Delicious chicken wings! Everyone recommended their wings and I ordered 12 today. Very nice indeed. Hot and crispy. The snapper fillets were massive! I did not expect them to be so big!
The staff were nice and friendly. Food was served quickly and efficiently.

My partner and I decided to visit after paying for our gold membership. Overall it was a great experience. Food was delicious, we ordered Thai fried rice, massaman curry and Tom yum. Portion was just nice. Large portion of rice was given. Waitress came and check on us regularly. I really like the vibe of the restaurant, a small waterfall in the middle of restaurant.
Great and quick service! The ambience was pleasant and the food was flavourful. The Pad Thai and Panang Curry were particularly delicious. However the Chicken Satay needed to be more tender and more tasty. In saying that, all in all, a good Thai resto.
We went here for our work Christmas dinner. Out of all the Thai places I have been, this definitely has to be the best experience.
We had a big group booking with a set menu, the food came out all together. I really enjoyed that they cooked everything on the set menu, oppose to just select one of the three options from a entree, main or dessert. It was great trying all the meals, I particularly enjoyed this prawn curry and chicken curry. Absolutely delicious, will definitely come back here again 😊

Very nice themed interior decoration. Staff was friendly and the food were served very quickly! The portion is very large and quite fillings! Overall quite a good experience!
We came here about two months ago, some dishes we never saw in other Thai restaurants in Auckland. It is a surprise so we can order something new, like the deep fried fish I got in the picture. Food there is nice and a little bit pricey compared to other thai restaurants, but considered the location and nice ambiance, it is still worth it.
The entrance to De Grand is interesting as you go through an ice cream parlour. We made a booking which was a good idea since the place was packed. They have a digital menu which you order from. It was also interesting that they had free corkage if you spent $25 per person.
We grabbed some entrees and mains to share. The food came as they were ready. Both the pad Thai and pad see ew had a nice flavour. The curry puff was nice albeit a bit oily. The curries were also not bad. I wasn't a fan of the summer rolls though.
The food here was quite nice and they were quite efficient considering how busy the place was. As we left they were taking the tables from the ice cream parlour and cafe in the front to seat more people. Booking is recommended if you are wanting to try the place.

We had our Marriage reception here and had our own room in the restaurant without extra fees. The manager was very in detail on what we want, told us everything we need to do prior to our reservation. They only have a BYO drinks for only $1 per person. Their food were delicious. Definitely one of the best Thai food in Auckland City. Definitely will recommend to my friends and will come back here.
One of my faforite places I visit very often. Friendly staff and a great vibe. I will go back again and again and never get bored of the place. If you go there and you meet the friendly owner David, tell him Shaun says hi, and you might just get a good discount
The food was nice! Did not like that we were sitting in the Boozy Gelato part of the restaurant, not a great place to eat while people are pouring in and out!
We ended up here without a reservation, but they were very accommodation. Food was great, really enjoyed it. Note, when they spicy, they mean Thai spicy!
Friendly staff, cozy, authentic Thai food. The price balance with the taste. 4 stars because the flies keep coming to our food.

Went on a Saturday night, and the food is pretty good just a bit pricey. Waitresses are hit and miss but the woman in charge is very lovely :)
Just a bit toooooo busy and can get a bit loud but it's a nice spot.
The food was pretty good, but the service is average at best. Very festive as long as you don't mind most of your fellow diners making use of the $3 per person BYO offer.
Good food, great service, heaps of gelato ice cream for a reasonable price. An average thai restaurant that you can come to every weekend.
