First time coming to Faro without going for their barbecue. We ordered the Bulgogi, Bibimbap, Doen-Jang and Cold Noodle dishes.
I especially liked the Beef Bulgogi which was tender and excellently flavoured. And the Cold Noodles which were chewy and well flavored.
The Bibimbap was above standard and the Doen-Jang Soup didn’t look very appetizing.
The mains came with 6 side dishes. I didn’t check whether they were refillable or not.
Cosy but comfortable ambience and friendly staff. The dishes were reasonably quick to serve.
They are extremely busy so booking in advance would be preferred.
Priced at the premium end.

The beef bulgogi stew...... really hits the spot. The smell alone is enough to make you squirm with the desperation to shovel it down. But the taste..... oh my .... with the beef being tender and the rice soaking up the stew .... that was on a whole other level of deliciousness. However, maybe it's just my personal preference but the raw capsicum just didn't fit... hmm maybe cucumber would have a better refreshing feeling after the strong hit of stew.
BBQ on the table is a nice experience. Quality food but not really sure if it’s worth the price. Complimentary Tofu soup is my least favourite and the meat was my favourite. Good customer service.
For me personally it’s the best Korean restaurant in Auckland. The service is great. I love their bbq with variety of side dishes. The kimchi soup and tofu soup is full of flavour. Overall great Korean bbq!
Its always nice to know that there is a korean restaurant near our place. The food never failed us. Its been our 10th time to eat here and still loving it.

I've been to Faro a few times for their Korean BBQ which I found to be quite expensive. So this time, I opted to have their a la carte menu and had their Kim Sam Gyeop and Ice Cold Noodles.
The Kim Sam Gyeop came in a hot plate with slices of pork belly, Kimchi, Cabbage, corn and cheese. It was a delicious combo. The cold noodles was nice and refreshing.
I found the side dishes on offer at Faro acceptable. But i have had better at other Korean restaurants.
Great Korean BBQ spot. Really enjoyed the beef ribs and encores after the first plate.
Non-bbq food is also top quality esp tofu stew. Not as spicy as the traditional Korean version but still pack of flavor.
Nice decor and dining ambience. A lot of options to choose from menu. BBQ Pork belly (Sam Gyeop) that I ordered was freshly-made and tasted yummy. But it comes with small portion.
Not bad! Food was great, alittle under portioned but great! The waiting staff is severely understaffed unfortunately :(
Also didnt know about the service call button as they didn't mention it but oh well.
Paid NZ$48 for 2 persons dinner. The toufu stew soup and pork stew soup were tasty. The rice was soft. The side dishes were tasty too. However, service was slightly lacking - the inside of the cup was found to be oily and I have to ask for a change, then it was difficult to get their attention to top up the side dishes although only 4-5 tables were occupied and the printer was out of order when I asked for the receipt. I paid cash as there is a surcharge of 2.5% if pay by credit card.
We had nephew's birthday dinner at Faro Newmarket. It's handy to park at the Westfield car park just opposite the restaurant with 2 hours free parking. Food is nice, portion not very big but the dishes we ordered seem like the onions have a bigger portion.
Awesome birthday family dinner! My eldest granddaughter spent her 7th birthday dinner in this cozy, clean and nice place. As she loves to eat Korean barbecue, this was the top recommendation. This was our 2nd visit though as we also had lunch 2 years ago. Lovely receptionist and staff. Keep up the good work guys. Highly recommended
The BBQ package was reasonably priced and quality of the meat was good. Their lunch meals are good too and so was the side dishes. You can get 1 refill of the side dishes free.
Simply beautiful meal! We have the $130 set BBQ menu for 2. It comes with nine beautiful quality side dishes and selection of meats and salads which accompanied with a tasty soup. Highly recommend this restaurant and prefer New Market over Lorne St. 4.5*
Pros:
Quality meat in their selection (for BBQ)
Good ambience
Great customer service
Cons:
$$$ cost per order vs serving amount
Recommended:
Samgyeop (Honeycomb Pork Belly)
Galbi (Prime Steer Beef Short Ribs)
We dined here a fortnight ago. The food was lovely - flavourful, well presented, big servings. Service was quick and the waitress was very helpful with explaining the menu. I am vegetarian and my friend is a meateater. We really loved the food and will be back another time.
I used to go quite often to the one in city. This was the second time to try the one in Newmarket and I have to say that I liked it a lot, nothing to envy to the store in city. Really quality dishes at a good price.
I will absolutely recommend this place to anyone looking for a good Korean barbecue that is not a buffet or if you are looking to try some Korean dishes.
They have quite many options in their menu and also drinks options, if you decide to try the barbecue, I suggest you accompany it with Soju as a drink. This has to be one of the best Korean restaurant I tried so far in Newmarket area.
A place that you have to go if you are in the area.
We went as a large group (11 people) and we really enjoyed the experience. Great food, A LOT of options and super friendly staff who explained each bit of the process and menu.
I came back after the fire which closed them for a bit.
The place looks similar to how it used to which is good. The menu is also the same. Had the galbi stew and it was really nice with the sweet meaty brith and the tasty meat. The sizzling spicy pork and octopus was also quite nice and not super spicy. I did find it weird that there was pineapple in it.
The food is tasty as always and worth the visit.
