Friendly staff members, good and flavourful food. Reasonably priced with big potions. Their 'small beginning' portions are as big as a meal; and their shared portions are enough for at least 2 people.
Seafood chowder was full of large chunks of fresh seafood and even a huge scallop - great value. Unfortunately it was pretty much unseasoned, but you can get electric salt and pepper dispensers from the staff.
Complimentary chocolate fish :)
Somewhat expensive, but very crispy chips are a bonus, as is the range available - it's surprising how hard it is to get seafood in the middle of NZ's biggest coastal city!
Nice range of dishes, but it's hard to go past the fish and chips - as good as you'd get at any gastropub, though a little smaller than a number of the pubs for the same size.
As usual for a Elliot Stables place, be ready to knifefight for a table, and bring your own wet wipes to wipe it down - chances are that the tables are sticky again. *sigh*
The fish & chips lunch special was good value. Good portion fish in a light but crispy beer batter seasoned perfectly and served with tartar sauce. Chips were thick cut and not as crispy but fresh and served with catsup, were decent. Little tart side salad nicely balanced the plate. Staff was friendly and apologised for the wait when he delivered my order to my table in the Elliot Stables communal area. Will order from them again.
Very good fresh food freshly made surf and turf very good stake , fish and buy crispy chips 🍟 and cheap to here
Neat little shop with a tasty menu. We always go for the mussels from here as they are done nicely. Sometimes they even have the Singaporean Chilli Crab on the menu too.
The staff are very warm, but they are a little pushy and subtly try and force you to buy more from them. But overall a good experience
Service was excellent with the most friendliest staff! My friends and I were impressed as it was our first time at 'The Seafood Kitchen' our food arrived within minutes even though they were extremely busy. Presentation was outstanding and food was absolutely delicious. My friends are not so crazy about seafood but they LOVED the food served here. Highly recommend and will definitely go back :)
The friendly staff helped me choose the Seared Scallops, which were served with grilled chorizo on a bed of mash and a tasty wafer of crispy cheese as a garnish. The generous portion (200g) of scallops were succulent and worked well with the added spice of the chorizo. Be aware that the Seafood Kitchen is part of the Elliott Stables food hall, so you will have a "shared ambience" experience with every other patron in the complex.
I don’t know why the reviews are so bad on here. I had the Fish & Chips lunch time special and was Fantastic!! Great size portion, good value and the garlic aioli! Wow... Seriously loved it and I’m English so I know my Fish & Chips 😉
Had fish and chips for lunch here, fish was great size, staff were lovely and it was delicious. Chips were great too and well cooked, will be back for sure
