Authentic Shanghaiese food in Auckland! Not only the food but also the atmosphere. Fried Pork Buns highly recommend - almost the same taste as you travel to Shanghai. The Vege & Meat Wontons are yummy too. Will always visit when need some home taste.
Walk past this place almost everday and I see the owners just starting their day. We finally went in to eat and the pork buns are amazing. Juicy on the inside and crispy outside. The wontons are also quite nice. They were quite big and the soup was good too. Although did feel quite thirsty after the meal. All in all good experience. Will be back for the buns
A Shanghai friend brought me here to try their fried pork buns. It was a small shop run by an old couple only accepting cash. If you don't have with you, ANZ is just next to them. The place is simple and small but the lady boss is very kind and considered. We bought 8 pieces of fried pork buns, a Shanghai fried noodles, and a stir fry bak choy with fried tofu and we loved all of them. The outer of the bun is crispy and the inner is juicy. It's better to consume immediately than takeaway. Will come back for their buns again and to the try other dishes. They are open until midnight so it's a good option for late supper!
Love the pan fried pork soup buns and spicy wonton! Must try !!!!! Don’t expect fancy dining environment , we all know what we came here for !
Love the little buns which slightly pan fried. Recommend their home made won ton soup. The menu provides many choices, only tried a few things so far, not bad at all!
Yet again it is one of these dining experiences I love. Small, nothing fancy and priced not too bad. It's run by a Shanghainese couple and so the menu consists of mainly Shanghainese cuisine and it has the policy of pay when you order and by cash only. No eftpos or credit. The menu on the wall is in chinese and of quite a good selection, but don't worry if you don't understand it as they do have a menu in english.
My favourite here is the Shanghainese fried bun , 生煎,really delicious and of which I can eat so many until I am near to bursting ( or 吃饱了, as the chinese would put it. ) Another favoured is the pork and green bokchoy wonton , 菜肉大馄饨。 I even know of some Shanghainese living here who reckon the bun is of the same standard if not better than of what you would taste in Shanghai. Well done to this couple for being able to produce the dishes so well that they taste just like or better than back home and at a decent price. Great place to go if you are into this delicious cuisine!!!
The problem is cash only, but there is a bank nearby. The taste of the food are amazing especially chicken rice and noodles though some dishes are a little bit spicy. Worth to go and try! Besides the boss of the restaurant is very nice. ?
I am only giving 4 because I haven't tried anything but the mini fried pork buns based on a recommendation, but would def give other items a go based on their insane deliciousness. They are one of the most delicious little things I have ever eaten, and in fact writing this review has made me want them again right now. Lucky I live just down the road.
Ordered for takeaway, fast service, great food, we order the wontons, deep fried buns, fried rice and spicy meat and tofu noodles. The noodles were delicious, my partner was so hungry that he at the other dishes before I can even take photos. I really enjoy the noodles.
The owner is a kind old Shanghainese. Their Shengjian mantou/pan fried buns are very authentic flavored , as well as the fried noodles taste tummy! When we miss Shanghainese snacks, we'll definitely come here again.
Delicious authentic China food, but prices have soared.
Second time here! Drove all the way here from Takapuna for the buns, ordered Won Ton and this pork with marinade sauce, turned out that was a such good choice.
The owner is nice!
Highly recommend!
Have been going to this place for years. Food is great and owner is very kind highly recommend. :)))
Hungry panda go go go! Very nice and friendly owner. Thanks for having us
best little Chinese restaurant like home in Shanghai.
As good as always. The owner cares about the food quality and customers. He advised us the best way to eat the soup noodle. A bonus: they take eftpos now!
I love their Pan-fried pork bun, which is very juicy and delicious but the bun is slightly thicker than others. I still do enjoy them though, especially with their chilli oil. The noodle I ordered is great too, with large portion and noodle are cooked perfectly.
More cleaning is needed at this shop as the table feels kinda sticky. The shop also only take cash, but there are 2 ATMs just around the corner.
The best shengjian bao I had in Akl !!!
