Am constantly told by a close friend of mine that the custard pies here are amazing. Today like many other days, I pit stopped here on the way to work for the custard pies especially. And given that I’m not much of a sweet tooth, they truly exceed my expectations. So so yummy!! 😋 Rating a 4 because I wasn’t a fan of the pies. I’m fussy with bakeries for this particular reason, jelly in the pie? Hmm.
Very reasonably priced and a wide variety of food categories to choose from. We often pick up munchies and snacks from here before long drives out of town, this is one of the few bakeries where the quality of ingredients is good. They have wide variety desserts, sandwiches, wraps, pies, sausage rolls. pizzas, fried meat, bread and even Mac and cheese. Desserts include Apple strudel and cheesecakes as well. But you have to go here in the morning to be to have lots to choose from. Coffee is nice and strong as well.
It is the first time I have ever been to a fancy bakery, coming here with dad on the way to his work. We would buy a total of four pies, we get two each because after all we are always hungry in the mornings. The pastry on their pies have a really good texture and the place overall is always clean.

Amazing bakery and the only affordable place to eat lunch in Herne Bay if you're just in the working socioeconomic class!
I come here mainly for snacks during the day at least once a week.
First of all, the service here is amazing! No matter who is serving they always greet you with a smile and they are always very polite.
Secondly, nothing is bad in here, everything taste good. Some even taste amazing! The food is extremely fresh, you can really see the effort they put into their work and you can certainly taste it too! My favourite pie has to be their steak and camembert, the amount of steak pieces you get in it is actually surprisingly generous for a cheapie bakery pie!
Lastly, the must try of the bakery is their mince savory and chicken kebab. Sounds like your usual bakery stuff but my goodness they are beyond delicious! I have only good things to say about this place.
It may be just a bakery but you get a lot for the little price you pay!
Also if you are a cheapie like me, they usually give out free food or 2 for 1 at the end of the day close to closing time! :D
Fantastic selection of snacks during the day with delicious sandwiches and pies including sweets especially the cup cakes and custard slices, nice and friendly staff too - highly recommend !
This place is a stalwart of Herne Bay, always with a comprehensive selection of cabinet food and pies, which at lunch times is usually busy with a long line of tradies coming in to get a fast bite. It's quick comfort food that is priced low (cheesecake and pie for less than $7), definitely the cheapest place to eat in Herne Bay :-) Even though the food was good for what it is, the flavours and textures (ie cheesecake base and rubbery topping) were lacking, but at the price I paid I am probably expecting too much. With so much more exciting competition nearby it is a testament to the fact that there are still a lot of people wanting quick and cheap.
I ordered 2 cakes: a banana cake with cream cheese topping and a blueberry cheesecake - 1st time from my local.
The cheesecake was lovely however the banana cake was exceptional 10/10.

Highly recommended - pie (pepper steak & tomato) was perfectly seasoned, with a rich and tasty gravy, hot but not too hot. Very good value for your money.
as a regular customer, this place is well known around the community as the best cream donuts. Not only do they have incredible donuts, they have amazing pies including their butter chicken, potato top and steak and cheese are in popular demand. Owners of the bakery are also very kind and can sometimes give you a treat. All of their food is homemade which is even better. Thanks to one of their owners jimmy. From Atelea :)
Been visiting a few years now so thought I should review. Lamington, custard twist, apple cream donut... delicious. They recently (a few months ago now) introduced an updated vegetable pie. It is delicious. Oodles of packed vege variety in a white sauce, with great pastry. I have eaten (too?) many. Lovely folks too.
Champion bakery with some of the best pies in NZ let alone Auckland. If they added a Steak & Oyster the queues would be even longer. Excellent cakes too.
Well, to start off, the Herne Bay Bakery is a fine dining experience with no big price tag. I see builders and workmen lining up each day! That tells you that they make a good pie! Best filled rolls and pies in town. Don't get me started on their dessert selection! My my. The club sandwiches are to die for. Overall, I would recommend to a pal. It's in a lovely area and has delicious food. Kind and sociable servers. Thanks, and have a good one folks.
A great selection of Lunch Bar hot foods like Pies, Sausage Rolls , Chicken Kebabs . Huge range of sandwiches, rolls and cakes. Literally tradies standing inside her almost all day . Reasonable prices and excellent quality 👌 Service is prompt and to the point. The pies particularly are scrumptious and yummy. Best Lunchbar with best prices in the area .
