I recently attended a one-day retreat hosted by BearLion Foods and Connect Centre Pilates, and it was an unforgettable experience. The retreat took place in the stunning countryside of Upper Moutere, and the location was simply breathtaking. I had the opportunity to wander through the gardens, which were absolutely stunning.
The cooking demonstration was both fascinating and educational, teaching me valuable techniques for creating memorable meals, snacks, and sides with just a few ingredients. The lunch that followed was nothing short of wonderful and showcased the foods from the demonstration perfectly.
The gentle movement classes were enjoyable and invigorating, leaving me feeling energized and refreshed. I highly recommend this retreat to anyone in need of a day to nourish themselves with food, movement, and great company.
Most amazing food! We had BearLion cater our wedding this year in Nelson. We did it picnic style and they presented the food so nicely, and were also easy and flexible to work with throughout covid changes!
And of course the food was soooo delicious, we just wanted to keep eating! Reasonably priced and totally worth it.
We feel incredibly spoilt to have unique, flavoursome, wholesome, dishes whizzed up by Alesha on the regular.
Not only is she a whizz bang in the kitchen, personally she brings great chat, authenticity and radiates positivity 🙂

This is food with soul. I can’t even describe how good this food is. When I first tried Bearlion salads I’d never had anything like it, but I’m totally hooked now. The chutneys, relish, chilli jam and muesli slices are just divine. This food is a must try. 10/10 would highly recommend.
I cannot write enough about how delicious and great BearLion food is. On a scale from 1-5, I would give it an eleven. For us living in the Richmond Nelson area, we have one of the best chefs in New Zealand living outside of the beautiful village of Moutere! After a long week, BearLion is willing to prepare your Friday supper for pickup, which you serve in the comfort of your own home. Lovely meals with amazing salads and soups. Try the ‘Smashgams’ for dessert!

We went for Thursday dinner, it was delicious! The food is amazing, especially the pork belly and lemon dessert. Service is great and you can tell so much thought and care is put into every menu item. Highly recommend :)
A really pleasant surprise in New Brighton. Only knew it was there due to an article I'd read some time ago. Really enjoyed our lunch...we had four different salads between the two of us and shared...delicious. Worth taking the trek out there...and having a stroll along the beach after.

Went to BearLion for a cooking class last night. It was SO GOOD!!!! The food was amazing! Alesha is such a lovely, easy going person and obviously passionate about making food that not only tastes good but knowing where it came from and making REAL food. The dishes werent complicated so I could make them again at home. Another highlight was that the meal was vegan. Im not that creative when it comes to cooking meat free dishes so it was great to get some ideas on how to make simple vegan dishes that taste amazing. Overall an amazing night!! Will definately be going again!
Amazingly good food, organic carefully made by detail , fresh and small batch not to leave wastage, eco and sustainable mind good people and life.
Lucky to find this eatery in the beautiful seaside town. Must visit!!!
