Walked past this shop on the way to dragon pc and everything looked so amazing that I had to go in. Wow wow wow is all I can say. The quality of this food is amazing. Not only does it look amazing it tastes amazing. The best quality desserts/treats I have ever had. We will be back for every special occasion and the occasional treat.
This shop's cakes are unbeatable! European patisserie Japanese-style at its very best. The proprietors also rate ***** for friendliness.

One of my favourite places! I visit frequently for macarons and I've gotten my birthday cake from here for the past several years. Highly recommend their Green Tea Gateau, but the other cakes and tarts are also great. The staff are always very nice and welcoming, and the atmosphere of the place is cute in general.
Would highly recommend visiting if you're in the area!

The green tea cake is devine! Flavours are perfectly balanced the cake is fluffy and light. Each mouthful is a great delight.
The raspberry rouge is beautifully made.. almost too pretty to eat. But once you dig into one, you just won't stop.
Can't wait to try all of their other cakes.
Another exciting find when roaming around Riccarton. All the items in the display looked really tasty but went with the chocolate tart. The macaron on top was a nice start but it was the best component. I found the chocolate in the tart a bit on the bitter side and the strawberry on the sour. I also found the base a bit too crumbly. Should've tried the mousse since it had won a award.
Love manager and cute little set up. The cakes are a bit more expensive but it is what you would expect for a quality product. It is not jam packed with sugar like other bakeries - the sponge and mousse are always fluffy. I recommend the Mont Blanc and Chocolate Mousse!

One of my favourite cake shops in New Zealand, various cakes they sell are award winning like their famous chocolate mousse cake.
All cakes have their own Japanese twist, the texture of the cakes are much lighter and less dense than normal. Small wee shop, great value and lovely owners.
Highly recommend to green tea lovers and anyone who enjoys dessert.

Latest news, I just ordered one whole fruit cake and attempt to bring back to Auckland and it works fine :).
I asked my friend if they have find any cake just similar to this in Auckland, they said "I've never have such tasty cake in Auckland, never." :D Guess I have no choice but keep coming back to chch for the cake.
Best Cake I've ever had in my life, considering strawberry shortcake 7.90 its quite pricey, but after you'll know whats call "the taste of heaven", creamy and smooth, i love sweetness of the cake here, not too much and not too heavy, feels like you can never have enough of cakes, it just perfect in every single way. density for the sponge cake was just enough, unlike those one you seen in divine, I used to come to here almost every week when i was still living in ChCh. now whenever i have chance to go down i'll definitely go to this cakery.
I tried the Coffee ...cant remember whats that call but it taste a bit bitter and sweet at the same time! and it matches perfectly with the walnut's bitterness. the crunchiness cross over. Too good to be described. please try it.
The best bakery in town. Their chocolate mousse is a must try. Everything else is just as wonderful. The staffs are always so friendly and lovely which makes me forgive them for not being open on Sundays and Mondays. They also make the very nice and rich Belgian hot chocolate, and the green tea latter is a must try. Never disappoints.
Generally the desserts look delicate and beautiful! And the taste is even better. Constantly I love to get something sweet here. The service is very good too. Even it's a bit expensive still worth it.
And oh yes! Don't forget to try the hot chocolate there! Best in town!
This is my third time to visit the bakery since I was back from overseas! I tried the new raspberry mousse.... it is beautifully presented with the great texture of sweet pastry filled with almond paste and the velvety mousse with a tang of raspberry filling on top. The chocolate mousse is rich and bitter sweet which I really like. The display cabinet has a few selections but very impressive ..as if I was transported back to Ginza, Tokyo... salute to the award winning Pastry Chef....
The green tea birthday cake i brought from this shop is the best ever green tea cake i ever ate. I am a Chinese. But hell i love this cake. Amazing!!!!! I will keep going this place, thank you for making such an amazing cake and you make us happy! Thanks.
A gem of a place! Such nice and friendly staff, and the presentation of their cakes, slices and biscuits is very pretty. The cakes we tried were lovely!

This is without a doubt my favourite cake shop in Christchurch (and of any I've visited in different cities/countries too!) Beautiful, beautiful delicate cakes, sold by the slice or you can order a full cake to pick up (sometimes they have some whole cakes in the cabinet for spur of the moment cake needs too). Their biscuits on the counter are SO good too - in wee packs to take away with you.
Yahagi do coffee and hot chocolate too, and have two wee tables for pairs to dine in and sit for a chat.
Tasty Fig and Walnut Tarte from Yahagi! We arent local and happened to pass by the shop and decided to get one for Christmas. It was a good decision and calories well invested. Highly recommended.
Delicious green tea cake I ever eat in Zew Zealand. The Japanese staff are friendly. Got free cake from them as just nice today is their 10 years anniversary. Nice taste too ! Thank you very much.

Beautiful cakes! But what keeps me coming back is the friendly service I receive from the staffs in here. It's been 3 years since I discovered this place but to this date and onwards, it will always be my favourite pastry place! Their cream puffs are phenomenal. 😍
