Starting off - their chicken pies are absolutely delicious. Like so good that you'll want another. Goes really nicely with their great and massive hot chocolates.
Service is professional and typical Cafe style and they are really fast and pleasant. None of the hipster flair that gets annoying after 10 minutes.
Had coffee and breakfast. Came in just on opening, the staff were great, the coffee came quickly and the food was good. Had the eggs hemmingway, which had great fresh bread and fresh made hollandaise - which should be the only way hollandaise is served!

I'm a regular at the preservatory and would definitely recommend them. There's not only a colorful range (both savoury and sweet) of cabinet foods to choose from, but also a wide selection of meals from their fantastic breakfast menu. The staff are warm&wonderful and they do hummingbird coffee on point. Personally, the only flaw is that the atmosphere can be a bit noisy at times and the slightly industrial setup may feel a tad out of place
This cafe is nicely located along the intersection and nearby school. The food and coffee choices are very good. The service is good and fast as well.☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️
Nice little cafe, good choice of sweet and savory cabinet food. I had an espresso truffle and an Almond milk latte which came to $9.50 so probably on the more expensive side but it was good.
Nice cafe….my eggs were overcooked on the eggs Benedict, but tasty, the eggs florentine for my Mrs she enjoyed very much
Quiet atmosphere. Good range of gluten free items to choose from. The gf keto brownie was delicious. Several teas to choose from. My companion was a frequent customer who enjoyed their coffee. Service was efficient. The Cafe was busy during the mid to late morning I visited. Most customers appeared to be regulars. 10minute parking just outside good for dropouts.
Great food, great coffee, prompt service. Highly recommended and will definitely come here again.

This is clearly one of my favourite cafés in Christchurch. I have been going here for about 2 years and the coffee has never let me down. The cabinet food is also good.
Excellent place to eat at, reasonably priced menu, and great selection. I came from Auckland not knowing where to go and eat, and stumbled across this place. Well worth the stop.
I enjoyed my visit here, it was a lovely warm and sunny day, the place had a few people but wasn't too busy and I wasn't in a hurry. The toastie I bought was great, the coffee was a good strength, and everything arrived quickly and hot. The service was great too. Prices weren't bad. The rest of the food in the cabinets all looked pretty good too, made it hard to choose.
I bought a couple of steak pies cold to take away, unfortunately they didn't live up to their appearance. The pastry was very nice, sadly there was very little actual meat (three tiny pieces in each) , mostly gravy. What filling there was, tasted good.
Food I've bought on other occasions has been very nice, and I'll definitely be back.
Has lost its finesse .. needs to be spruced up and cleaned. It's been a few years since I've been here and it is definitely not the same place anymore. I was really disappointed.. such a shame as it use to be one of my favourite places.
