The International Antarctica Centre in Christchurch is a captivating experience for all ages! đ We learned so much about Antarctica, and the -18 degree snowstorm and the 4D movie added an immersive touch to our visit.
Itâs an eye-opener that makes you appreciate Mother Nature more, sparking a desire to know even more about Antarctica. Highly recommend for an educational and enjoyable journey! đ

Huskies, penguins, storm experience, hÀgglund ride... They're amazing!
We've got lots of explanation, help, stories, sincere care from the team!
Will definitely recommend to friends and family!
Very interesting and a lot of factual information, geological samples and real life footage. The VIP Penguin Backstage Pass is so worth it, with a really fascinating presentation of Antarctica wild life and the little blue penguins up-close encounter. The bumpy HĂ€gglund Field Trip is fun and unique!!! Absolutely recommended!
I enjoyed my time at the international Antarctic centre. While it isnât as large as I expected, there were so many unique experiences that I rate it a 5/5!
Firstly, the Hagglund ride across various terrains was so fun!
I also enjoyed the Antarctic storm experience, and thought that the igloo was a nice touch!
Finally is the animals. The huskies and penguins were absolutely adorable. Im particular, the sneak view into their burrows was unique.
Had an enjoyable morning at the centre. The centre may not house an extensive collection of exhibits, but the various stations are all once in a lifetime experiences. Top of the list was the artic snow experience with its hourly countdown to an inbound blizzard, along with the outdoor tracked oversnow hugglunds ride in various obstacle courses.
As it was a weekday with a moderate population of visitors, we were able to spend quality time with the fluffy huskies. The 4D movie experience and penguin feeding session were also really interesting.
Loved this place!!! We visited the day we were flying home so we checked in our bags at the Christchurch International Airport and took a short walk through the carpark to the centre. The lovely staff at the locked away my cabin luggage whilst we were visiting. We rode on the HĂ€gglunds all-terrain amphibious Antarctic vehicle which was rough but so fun. We saw the georgous Little Blue Penguins swim and wander in their enclosures. We donned some foot covers and parkas and braved the Storm Dome chilled to minus 8 degrees celsius and best of all we experienced the 4D theatre which was hilarious! They took photos of us against a green screen and we could access images of us in antartica via QR code. This is well worth a visit!
Well worth the visit! Incredibly knowledgeable, helpful staff. Kids (11, 9, and 8) loved it!
