Been to quite a number of Thai Restaurants including Melbourne and Sydney and this is one of the good ones. Very friendly and prompt service and really lovely food! We go here regularly and love the curries, Beautiful!

Oh my gosh the best thai ever.. esp the sam tam.. which wasnt on the menu .. But she made it anyway sooooo delish.. we go back sometimes 2 days a week... Amazing portion sizes.. bigger than any place ive been too esp the coconut curry dishes.. yummy .. yuuuum
One of the best Thai Chef's in Christchurch and the food is reasonably priced.The new premises are a huge improvement over the old ones and the staff are nice and friendly. I've tried the rest but the Green Chilli is best
I've been here many times over the years. Some meals are a bit hit or miss, but general pretty good thai food. We had lunch recently, a beef larb and ginger chicken. Tasty, big servings and friendly service. The thai basil dish is good (but sweet) and the salads I would recommend.
I hate most of the food in Christchurch. I find it overpriced, non-authentic, overpriced, and bland. The staff are usually rude and act like you should be thankful they're serving you. However, I've always loved the Green Chili- I went years ago and had a shock at finding their shop empty. Luckily they didn't move far. I love that it looks like a proper dine-in now and was scared that the food and prices may have suffered because of the bigger location. I went there tonight and was very happy to say if anything, the food was BETTER than before, and that's saying a lot!
Best Asian food in town, hands down!
I love Thai food and this restaurant has always been consistently good. The new premises is much larger and the food is still the same great quality. Recommend the Chicken Tom Kah Soup and either green or red curries.... my son loves the Satay!!!
this has always been the best red Thai curry after Thai ta-lay in ferrymead. little restaurant so wouldn't advise dining in but takeaway. definitely. the first time i went to this restaurant was 8years ago and I've never been disappointed once. absolutely beautiful. i advise u give a try if you like real authentic Thai food.
Always get the Green and Red Curries. Really nice but depends who makes them because they have different people cooking them so be aware whoever is cooking the lumpy ones well they need to stop making it and the person who's making the nice creamy ones needs to take over full time but other than that yeah it gets my thumbs up.
Popped in to this restaurant whilst on a 1 night stopover in town. Nice menu, good portions, tasty, nice house red wine. Be nice to see more vegetarian options such as tofu. Recommended.
Yam goong was so good. Proper hot too when you ask for it. Fantastic. Favourite Thai place in Christchurch.

But just notice for new patron, they don't accept creadit card, only bank card eftpos payment only. And curry or stair fry dishes are not included rice, rice are extra price.
The green chilli has amazing authentic Thai food made by a chef from what I know has 30+ years of experience. The restaurant has good ambiance however as with all places when busy service slows down which I attribute to the fact that I've only seen two servers and one cook. 10/10 would go again
Walked in for an early meal with my father and toddler. Service was really friendly and they were very accomadating to Theo. We started with a mixed entree plate, which was a hit with Theo. Followed by ginger beef and a chicken massaman curry. Theo mains were delicious and really generous portions. It was a warm and comfortable environment. Wine and meals were really reasonably priced. Really friendly server and chef!
I got a Lamb Massaman curry and roti, I ordered medium heat but there was no "spice" heat to it but in saying that it was a very tasty curry and I would definitely order it again. The roti were quite oily but a nice accompanying side to the curry.
Really like this place yummy selection of dishes, haven't been disappointed yet. Only thing I would say is that their rice servings are tiny. If you are getting takeaways, always order extra.
The Pad Peanut dish was delicious and so filling. My partner got the green curry and it was delicate and fresh. We got some roti as well and in my partner's words "they were the best roti in NZ!". They were light fluffy with just the right amount of crispyness.
I was looking for an easy dinner but I think I found a real gem. Green chillies is a humble resteraunt/ take away that serves simply fantastic Thai food. I got the phad Thai noodle and a jungle curry. Awsome!! I'm taking my son for dinner there next time can't wait!!! Get down there and visit Thailand. Yum
