Review The Perc Cafe - Dunedin

Food was satisfying, but it didn't stand out as exceptional. Eventhough the cafe was very crowded, the staff was attentive. Overall it was a pleasant experience

Chilled but busy cafe in Dunedin CBD. Good value for money on food, coffee was good, open on Sunday since early morning. Food was delivered fast and hot, staff was friendly and helpful. We have The One, a stack of Hashbrowns, Roasted Tomato and ciabatta bread + 1 Poached egg Covered with Bacon and Hollandaise $24. The Halloumi Breakfast, a toasted ciabatta, with sauteed mushrooms + greens and pan fried Halloumi. I would love 2 eggs breakkie but, you can have good sides.

Great spot for a lunch, good choice, lovely staff, family friendly. Our coffees were slightly overworked, too much frothing & not enough heating, a rookie mistake where you get lukewarm coffee with too many bubbles, but hey nothing major, will come back anyway!

A really nice cafe. Food is very tasty and they have healthy options, and also gluten free options. The coffee was really good too. It is very central and the staff were super friendly and quick. Highly recommend.

We had excellent coffee and desserts, and everything else looked great too. Friendly service. I'd highly recommend for light lunch or afternoon coffee and snack.

Pleasantly surprised by this wonderful Cafe. Weโ€™re visiting from California and Percyโ€™s vibe is of a locals cafe: where locals gather to catch up with mouth watering breakfast, baked goods and latte. We ordered the All and the spinach mushroom Benedict - both were so tasty that nothing was left on the plate. Their gluten free peanut butter cookie and banana bread was out of this world! Donโ€™t forget to order at the cash register, theyโ€™re very busy.

Had a nice breakfast here, great flavours good portion size. Coffee was great too. Friendly staff and good service. Online pricing was out of date though and prices have snuck up a little since publication.

I've always like this place, the food and Coffee are quite outstanding. I notice a couple of people have questioned the service, well look around you guys it's normally full; probably because of the reason above. I actually rate the service here for the simple reason that if the are busy, the staff will generally tell you that you will be in for a wait. Personally I think the wait is worth it. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED ๐Ÿ˜€

A kind, genuine and warm experience with top shelf food and coffee. A delight in every way. Thank-you for the experience - hospitality at its finest.

I always come here for breakfast whenever I am in Dunedin. Consistently great service, delicious food and relaxed atmosphere. It can get quite busy and I like that because it means the food turns over quickly so it's always quite fresh. Photo attached: corn fritters with poached eggs and cabinet frittata along with a side salad.

Delicious menu food and big selection of yummy cabinet food as well. I had french toast with maple mascarpone, berry compote and bacon and my friend had one of the bagels and a savory scroll from the cabinet which was all excellent. It was difficult to get a table so I would recommend going early. Coffee was well made but roast not to my taste so I wouldn't go for just coffee.

Coffee was brilliant, no complaints there.
Ambiance was comfortable, music was enjoyable.
Price was on the expensive side but still average in the range for a popular cafe.
Overall it was a good experience and I would love to go back again when my wallet allows. ^_^

I had a group of 30 come in for a work breakfast, and Sarah and the team were amazing. We pre-ordered with Sarah's help, and all the food came out in a timely, organised fashion. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Even got up on a chair to take a group photo for us! I received only positive feedback from everyone! The food and coffee were great. Highly recommended! Really great venue for a group breakfast or brunch!

Early morning in Dunedin is a good time to get a park if you are in a hurry. The cafe was busy, usually a good sign, we were served quickly and all the food on offer of high quality. Ambience of the place would be improved if some attention given to installing the water fountain plumbing a little more discretely, and some attention to the rear door to the toilets would be a big win

Yet another cafe with a cute cosy interior and funky music which I really appreciated. A nice array of cabinet food but not the best Iโ€™ve seen, (and would appreciate prices please!) their menu is slightly pricey imo but a cute place to sit and chill.
I got the last cinnamon bun of the day warmed up with butter. It was soft, doughy and crisp at the cinnamon edges. The flavor was mildly cinnamon and a hint of sweetness, and is most tasty at the core. Overall it was okay, tasty but not special. I feel like all cafe foods are relatively the same. Their choices of brownies and sweets liked decent in size and yummy but nothing unique really popped out except for the finicky cinnamon bun which was alright tasting. 3/5
Would return again for ambience but meh for food. Onwards! Other cafe adventures await.

The best pies and the best food over-all . The staff are very friendly and helpful... Just go and try... If you don't think you cant get into heaven.. Try the second best place

Amazing brunch food and dreaming about the Curly fries can wake you up at night....such a crave. Anything with haloumi on ciabatta is heavenly. Would come back!

A cute little cafe for breakfast, brunch or lunch. I love the design of the menu and the cosy but contemporary interior.
I loved the selection of Best Ugly Bagels on offer and I ordered the bagel of the week which was with avocado, mushroom and halloumi and I got this on a gluten free bagel. The avocado was a generous serving and the flavours balanced wonderfully together. My only criticism would be that the plate was too small to try and cut the bagel up a bit to make it easier to eat.
My friend had one of the breakfast stacks and enjoyed it too.
There was a slight mix up and I ended up getting my coffee in a takeaway cup but the coffee was good and I loved that almond milk was available.
The selection of counter sweet treats looked delicious too.
I would definitely recommend The Perc Cafe for the bagel menu alone!

Been here a few times for brunch. The food is decently tasty and every component has been made with attention. Nothing too special however and not as filling as i'd like. Definitely would order a side like the wedges to fill you up - which are nice too but not mind blowing. Would probably return again and it would be delightful if they added some more dishes to their menu.

The coffee beans roasted perfectly so the coffe brew was smooth. The smashed avocado with tomato bit of salad and balsamic on grain toast just what I ordered on a cold wet morning.

Breaky for two on Saturday 29th August 2015.
Nicely laid out cafe with big and small tables, colour, couches and nice general feel.

I especially like their hygiene standards on the front counter i.e all the counter food covered. So many cafes don't Do this this and should!!

Staff spot on, ticked all the boxes for good service.

Food also spot on and well presented. Coffee just right with attention to detail.

Well done Perc, you deserve your five stars. Lots of people coming in right now, so others seem to think like me!

Really relaxed cafe with a great personality portrayed through the decor, menu, food presentation. Friendly service, great good and definitely a place to go back to.

We ordered both the mushroom and bacon stack. Eggs were cooked perfectly, hash brown was nice and crisp. The mushrooms were full of flavour- buttery and herby. Decent serving of bacon which had a nice crispy edge, also the tomato was cooked through but not soft or watery which was ideal! Their milkshakes are creamy and all taste like they should- strawberry, chocolate and caramel.

Was there for an afternoon tea after grad and it was a really enjoyable, memorable experience!

Superb! Immediately fell in love with this place as soon as we walked in. Great deco, great atmosphere, great music. Staffs are very helpful and friendly! The food!! OMG it's heavenly!! Must try both the cinnamon and the savoury scrolls, best in the country!! Great coffee too!!

Lovely little cafe. Fresh, tasty coffee and some delicious cakes. Unique decor. Prompt and professional staff. Everything you want in a coffee shop!

The cabinet food is ridiculously expensive,e.g. mid-sized sausage rolls and small chicken pies - both $8 !!! When asked why so expensive I was told,"Thats what everybody charges in Town". Well thats a porkie ! The radio was too loud to be able to hold a conversation - had to ask for it to be turned down - bad news! Don,t eat here!
