Review Esplanade Restaurant - Dunedin

Really nice Italian restaurant just on the waterfront with view on the ocean. Pizzas Really tasty with good ingredients, nicely cooked and really good base with crunchy crust. Perfect spot for pizzas lover. Easy to find parking spot on streets around.

Would definitely return. Seats unavailable when we arrived so they took name and ph no. to call us when a table was available. 30 mins. Great service and location. Nice atmosphere. Very busy. Recommend booking. Christmas decorations were added.

We are visiting Dunedin and we popped in for lunch. What a great view! The pizza is excellent and the toppings actually cover the whole pizza. Two pizzas fed the four of us with a side of crispy French fries. We also discovered yet another great wine while down here. When we return, this restaurant is added to our must-visit list (the list is getting big!).

27/9/2023 We ordered ravioli, a seafood antipasto and a pizza. I would say their food are awesome. Escpecially the ravioli. The texture is nice, sauce as well. Their pizza crust is soft and cheewy. The location of the restaurant is good, it beside are beach.

Great location to be able to look out to the ocean. Good coffee, great hot chocolate, amazing Parmesan and rocket scones and friendly service. We had brekky, lunch and dinner here and each meal was amazing. Highly recommend the gnocchi and the hazelnut torte

Fantastic service and wonderful food. The menu is Italian with a clear focus on quality. Combined with the views over the ocean and indoor / outdoor seating, I’ll definitely be back.

Recommend to ANYONE wanting authentic quality ITALIAN food that is not pretentious or overly priced 😊😊😊 And Totally agree with their philosophy board !!!

Absolutely stunning. Loved the decor and the location. Was nice to look out to see the beach. The service was great. Very lovely and friendly staff always making sure we were satisfied. The food was fantastic. We had the ravioli. It was cooked perfectly and we also got a pizza as well. It too was excellent. We weren't able to finish it so we took the rest home for later. Was a wonderful experience.

I had a super delicious pizza with views of the sea 😊 I appreciate the attention, I asked them for hot water for my thermos being Argentine and they gave me quickly!

We stopped by at Dunedin on our South Island road trip. We hadn't planned to come to Esplanade Restaurant but I am so, so glad we did go in the end. It was my top 2 restaurants of 2022. With the waves crashing outside, spitting up spray in September, it was still cold enough that the heaters were on inside Esplanade. We came in at 6ish and had a table in 5 minutes. Filled up pretty quickly. The waitresses were attentive and warm, making us feel welcome, despite there being many customers. The food didn't take too long to come out. When it did and we dug in, it was stunning. The food was next level delicious. It tasted like Nonnas out the back were personally making the pasta, crushing the tomatoes for the bolognaise and balancing to perfection. I couldn't believe how good it was. Every bite, I was raving to my wife who just told me to shut up and eat otherwise she'd eat it all. Kids were wolfing down the pizza and pasta too. I wish this review could do it justice but it really doesn't. If you're visiting Dunedin, you must try Esplanade.

One of the best pizza I’ve places in New Zealand. Every time we go, we have the consistency of good pizza, pasta, and coffee to finish. We are pleased by the service and as well the ability to see the Chef’s cooking away with an open concept look. Thanks for never disappointing the true authentic Italian pizza experience. Cosy restaurant with fantastic service! We loved everything we had, especially the lamb pappardelle and the marinara pizza. Didn’t catch her name but thank you to the waitress who gave us recommendations of places to visit during our stay in Dunedin.

We went on a Saturday night so it was pretty busy as expected. We had to wait for a table but the staff took our name and number when we arrived so we could go for a walk while we waited. We had dessert and drinks. The desserts were amazing but smaller portions than we expected, although the price is fair for the size. If you normally split a dessert, I would get one each here. The tiramisu was amazing so it disappeared pretty quickly.

Amazing restaurant with authentic Italian cuisine! I really enjoyed my visit and food and wine were excellent! Service was great and it was cool to have a little chat with the Italian owner. I felt like being in Bella Italia!

Fabulous experience from start to finish for our sons birthday dinner. Food and service top class, well done team 😍 Annie our waitress was very professional & definitely attentive, friendly service. We will be back and recommend this restaurant to others in Dunedin.

Great atmosphere and location right on the sea front. Service was ok - Good at bringing out the plates not so good at taking them away. Charged $20 to bring in a birthday cake - we had to ask for the table to be cleared and to order coffee and for the cake to be served. Enjoyed the food - great vegan pizza
