Had I seen the reviews to this restaurant I may have not gone. Therefore, I am glad that I did not read them before hand. We tried the Teppan Pork and the Chicken Bento Box. The bento box comes with miso soup. It was a very generous portion as it was very filling and delicious, the chicken was full of flavor. The miso soup was one of the best I have ever had. I amnoy sure if it was due to the chili oil I added but could have certainly had more. My husband had the Teppan Pork and really enjoyed it. It was just the right amount of food.

Great meal, full of flavour and beautifully presented. Good size meals, bring your appetite.

Wow, I visited Tokyo Gardens in Dunedin with friends tonight and enjoyed an amazing tepanyaki experience with the new chef. Was Absolutely Delicious food, very filling! Also great value for money.

Absolutely loved the atmosphere and the chef at the party group table was very entertaining making jokes and get participating customers to catch small bowls thrown at them and get everyone to laugh. The staff was very friendly and the place has a beautiful decor and theme. The food was fantastic too... will go there again sometime for dinner.

Bought mixed tempura, 4 salmon nigiri and 5 salmon california. Very fresh. High quality. Will definitely order again.

One of the few restaurants you can't go wrong with when dining in or taking out. Both the food and the service does not disappoint.

Pretty good food and the vibe was cool. Not the best food you could ever get but it was still good especially the dumplings.

The workers here are very nice.<br/><br/>Service: 7/10<br/>The person at the counter was really nice when taking our order<br/>They even offer free yakults beside the counter.<br/>The food was served in a decent amount of time and the man that served it was super cheerful and kind.<br/>They were quick to clear the tables so the whole place was clean.<br/><br/>Food: 4/10<br/>I ordered the beef curry on rice.<br/>There was quite a potent peppery taste which kinda tasted like those box curries.<br/>The beef was a little tough but there were plenty of vegetables and the portion was decent.<br/>There was a little salad on the side which kinda cut the heaviness of the curry.<br/><br/>Ambiance: 5/10<br/>The store doesn’t look the most authentic or modern but it’s simplistic and clean.<br/>The side of the store displays all of the different types of sushi that you can choose from or you can order from the menu.<br/>The store is pretty small so it’s suitable for a quick lunch by yourself or with a few friends.<br/><br/>I probably wouldn’t come back but I recommend this place for people who need a quick and cheap meal.

If its a rice ball you are after or just a meke feed 100% send your self down to Cafe Tokyo. Always unreal service and the water there is also chur. Chur chur

I love Japanese food but it was a bit hard to find a Japanese restaurant in Dunedin that run by Japanese people except Cafe Tokyo. I often go there to grab sushi for lunch during weekday. The quality of rice and meat they use for sushi are really good compare to the similar sushi take away places. However, the dine in tables are not clean properly for the next customer. The picture is my favorite dish.

I LOOOOOOVE tokyo cafe fav dish here has to be their teppan chicken, although i also love their teriyaki, satay and sukiyaki chicken.<br/>The best way to describe there meals i think is clean and fresh.<br/>A+++

Cafe Tokyo is most definitely one of the best places I have ever eaten! The service is excellent, quick, friendly and the food is always absolutely divine! I recommend this place to everyone. A++++
