We loved the friendly atmosphere of Cableways. It is a great pub which, by the number of AGM meetings and people who know each other, is the heart of the local community. The food was the best pub food I've had in Dunedin. The serving size was generous and beautifully cooked. The service was friendly and inclusive (we've all been to pubs where they treat you as an alien from out of space). They even braved the cold and dark to obtain me a seat when they were particularly busy one night. All in all, a fantastic place for dinner and company

I haven't been here for years so it was nice going back. A lovely decor. Staff were friendly. My only minor gripe was it took a wee while for someone to come back to take our order despite it not being hugely busy. However staff made up for this by being friendly and helpful especially when it came to my friends Gluten-free needs. The food was very nice and we would go back.

There was a group of us everyone enjoyed their meals, all the staff were great and lovely, want to say a huge thank you to Rachael for going out of her way while she was busy to light all the candles and bringing out a heavy cake out to our table will be definitely going back

I'm very impressed. Such a lovely place to dine at. The staff were super friendly, the food was scrumptious and tasty and well portioned. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and time spent here. I would definitely be visiting again and be recommending to others to go here. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Kids loved the cable car. The young lady working was so friendly, we had quite a large group and just walked in on a Saturday for lunch and she moved some tables around to accommodate us. The food came out pretty quickly and everyone in our party was very happy with their meals. Prices and serving sizes are very reasonable as well. Would definitely recommend.

Attentive efficient staff, good menu variety. Delicious food which was served in good time from ordering. I had the Pork Belly. Was presented nicely & tasted delish. My family had the Blue Code & Ribeye, which were equally as good. Only negative is that it's a bit noisy with Public Bar and Restaurant having not much division. Overall, highly recommend.

Its cheap bistro deep fried food, not very appealing compared to Fat Harrys up in mornington. I would say dont take your kids there because when I went the chef there would not stop swearing. It is ok if you want to go for cheap food though just not for me

Generous servings of no-frills pub tucker served quickly. No problems there. The prices are not over the top and the staff work hard to provide a good experience for the punters. <br/><br/>Dunedin is not renowned for hot weather and it might be unfortunate that we chose one of the hottest evenings of the year for our visit, however I don't think it's unreasonable to expect a popular eating establishment to provide a heat pump or two for the comfort of its patrons, even if it is needed only rarely. The stifling heat completely ruined the experience on this occasion and it was worthy of two stars at best. I've given it three stars because having been there before I know it's usually a good pub tucker establishment.

Their website confirmed special Roast on Fridays 12-2. . . Well, we arrived at 1:35 to find a "Roast sold out" notice. They sure didn't look "busy" at the time - MAYBE this was a one-off, but I'm not going back to find out. Grrrrrr

A popular haunt in Dunedin. Great service and good food. Prices reflect the food. Decor is superb. Be warned though it is popular and therefore can be busy. You shouldn't be disappointed.

This bistro restaurant is great. Portions are huge and delicious. Service is also pretty quick and prices are just right. A must try for anyone who likes pub bistro dining.
