Weve had fish with half serve chips aand vegetable chow mein. Was very tasty! Very friendly service as well. Good price. Vege chow mein 11$ fish 2.50 chips 2.50 (half serve 1.50). Good amount of fish and not like in many places thicker batter then fish. Crispy chips. Thanks

Staff was by far the friendliest I have met. We even had a chat. I enjoyed their food. It was however exactly the same as every other fish and chips place in Christchurch. Unfortunately we have not found one that stands out. They all use the same batter and same fish so it's all the same.

I walked in as they take pride in their business. Lovely flowers on the table and nice family feel. I have not been able to eat many chips for years as I have a sensitive stomach. First time in years I've had chips and not felt sick. Their fish was real too. When you remove the batter you can see the segments and tasted so fresh! Love the name as googled it. Next time I'm in Dunedin I will be sure to visit! Thank you! ♥️

Bloody good fish and chips, sweet and sour pork for the soul and customer service is a vibe. Oh, and the prices! Student reasonable! Mei Wah is dangerously convenient and definitely worth a try (especially if maccas has done you wrong).

Fairly priced available items. Can't go wrong with the fish and chip classics. Other dishes (specifically sweet and sour pork on rice) are cheap during their lunch time specials but are less palatable due to being cooked with the deep fryer with all other items. It gives it a grimier taste versus what you would find at a normal Chinese place, but given the price and the fact it is a fish and chip shop, it's still acceptable.

Best sweet and sour pork. If I lived in Dunedin I would drive across town for it. A lovely fried rice a couple of days earlier, too. Highly recommended

Stopped in for blue cod and chips. Chips were nicely cooked. Blue cod was probably frozen but was still a good sized fillet and nicely cooked.

The chips weren't very crispy, but the fillet of sole was good. You get a lot of food for your money. This fish and chips shop is more about the fish and chips, less about the shop. Not really an atmosphere to speak of in the dining area, but that wasn't a problem for me since I had ordered takeaway.

I really like this chippie. The make their own chips which in my book is a real plus as I hate frozen chips.<br/>Their hamburgers are great and so is the Chinese food they do. Place is always busy and parking is relatively easy. <br/>Highly recommended.

Overall I thought this place was poor. Firstly the service at the counter was terrible (poor English skills) and he rudely tossed a plastic bag to me to put my own fish and chips in when I asked for a carry bag. Secondly my whole meal of fish, chips and hot dogs were all well over cooked - very dry and there must of been a bucket of salt dumped on my food! I will not be going back!!

Eh. This place is always packed - to the point I see people waiting on the sidewalk so assumed it must have been amazing. Maybe we've been there on bad nights?<br/>Chips have been burnt most times we've been there and look like scraps from the bottom of the bag. The fish was slimy and wayyy too fishy tasting.

Just got home with my first ever order from wei wah... ordered a pineapple burger. they left out the pineapple. seriously? there was no one else there and not much was going on so it's not like it was a friday evening rush!

There are not enough words i can use to describe the delicousness that mei wah serves up on the reg.<br/><br/>The wee hottie behind the counter gets my motor running every time, and gives me another reason to head to dunedin's finest restaurant. <br/><br/>If there was one criticism i had of mei wah, it would have to be that the food is cooked too quickly, not giving me sufficient time to soak up the ambiance, and welcoming atmosphere.<br/><br/>Most of the reading i do, is from one of the up to date editorials at the fine establishment.<br/><br/>Yeah.... Mei wah, i may just head down now actually, tally hoe.
