Review The Coffee Club - Dunedin

Lena K
Food was good mostly. Hot dog was cold. It should be nice and warm. We spent almost $200 and we asked for hot sauce and got told we have to pay extra for hot sauce. It is very disgusting to have to pay for sauce when you spent that much money. Quite disappointed. We also had to pay fees to use paywave or credit card. Such a big company why cant take some cost when customers already paid for food and service. If they are small business, i would totally understand and not a problem. Anyway apart of these two disappointments. The rest were great. Service was pretty good. Really friendly and helpful. Coffee was good too.

Took my granddaughter in for a special afternoon tea. Wasn't disappointed. She rated the presentation 5/5, and taste 4.5/5. We had a great view from our seat of the road improvements being undertaken. A great experience.

Good selection of cabinet food and menu items. Located within the Meridian Mall. Parking available within mall.

Nice quiet comfortable atmosphere where I could enjoy a great flat white and catch up with my daughter.

Good alternative to somewhat utilitarian food hall in Meridian. More intimate & quieter.

Nice atmosphere, child friendly, quick turnover of food. Place runs smoothly and staff are polite and attentive, definitely will return

My wife and I love this place, not just for the food but the location as parking in the Meridian is easy. Davina and Donal are just the loveliest people to deal with. As we are vegetarian we find there is plenty to choose from even a bit of mix and match. Thanks so much. Russell & Catherine.

Very happy with the drinks we purchased. Took a little too long to get to us. But great portion size for the price.

Got the big breakfast first time and wasnt super impressed. But have gotten lunch there a few times since and the burgers are bussin' every time frfr respectfully. Staff is kinda quiet but still helpful and professional. Would recommend if the food court downstairs doesnt cut it for you

Coffee is usually good here but the food seems to be very inconsistent having been here multiple times and it continually changes. Not first choice in cafes to visit.

Great service! Friendly people here. It was very comfortable eating here with nice seating (we got the couched seats). Price is on the higher end. Food - was tasty.. the beef pickled burger didn't look ANYTHING like the picture displayed - and the hubby rated it a 5 out of 10.. he said he wouldn't order that again. I had nachos (vegetarian option) which I quite enjoyed - lots of salsa topping which was great - adding beans would make them much better. My iced chocolate wasn't so much "iced" then it was fridge temperature - I was really craving an ICED chocolate so was quite disappointed in this. It was also far too chocolate syrupy flavored. . And not a good chocolate syrup. The salmon pizza crisp was very good - not what I expected at all (an image of the pizza on the menu would have been nice) .. enjoyed the first half of it.. but afterwards both of us decided we wouldn't order those meals again. The waitress was a bit too on top of her job, as she whisked our bowl with salsa away and we wernt done with it (my hubby was dipping his chips and burger into the sauce- she didn't ask - but just grabbed it and walked away. It was ok - however I would go somewhere else next time I'm hungry. Great friendly people - food just not AS great. But that's just our opinion.

I don't get the reviews here complaining about the prices. Its the Coffee Club, the prices are the same all over new zealand its a big franchise from australia with a lot of costs, hence the price. Was in this morning, had great service and excellent coffee from Sam and his team. Yes it is pricie for the food, but its the way the brand works and there is no surprises if you've already been in a Coffee Club in NZ before.

nothing much for vegetarians- I spent over $10 for a small plate of chips with lacklustre sauce. Absolute ripoff!!!! Meals are very small and I find their advertising funny as they seem to think they are offering exciting fare!! maybe in 1992 ;(

Went to The coffee shop yesterday with friends from Australiafor lunch so disappointing and expensive just under $90.00.Ā Ā Calamari like rubberĀ bands, Cheese steak very small and cold when delivered, Chicken Schnitzel dry and cold as were chips onall meals after waiting very long time to get them. Coffee cold,When duty manager was told all he could say was I am sorry andĀ gave complimentary coffee vouchersĀ to have with next meal which has to be purchased. Not likely to go againĀ  for even coffee. Very sorry did not returnmeal and say not suitable to eat. Should have asked for money back.

Price and appearance of a nice cafe, food quality of a cafeteria. Oily everything, from the eggs Benedict to the omelette to the coffee. Not recommended, go down the road to any other cafe for lunch.

Possibly one of the worst cafe experiences I've had in Dunedin! Brought my partner here for breakfast this morning (7th March) and we both had bland meals over priced meals and awful service! If you're paying over $45 for nachos, a sandwich and 2 coffees I expect the service to be great or at least meals arrive within a reasonable time frame of each other! Lovely atmosphere, however the staff really bring the place down. Very disappointed and will steer myself and friends clear of this cafe. So many other beautiful cafes in Dunedin that will charge you half the price and staff with be twice as helpful!

Terrible, took 30 minutes for two smoothies to get made and it wasn't even that busy. To top it off they tasted bad. Waited another 10 minutes for blt and nachos to be served which bacon was burnt to a crisp in the sandwich and fries weren't cooked for long enough so cold in the middle, they had no beef for nachos so had to have chicken which there was very little of and the chips were stale. Service wasn't that great either. While there waiting for our meal another lady complained about having to wait twenty minutes for a coffee. All round bad place, will never go there again.

Absolutely atrocious. I went to this place a few times last year and enjoyed it, but has severely declined since. The wrap I ordered was so soggy it was inedible, the coffee was mediocre, and the smoothie was tasteless. The service was also disappointing, with long waits and a careless attitude. It doesn't help that everything is so expensive.

I do not complain often, but this may have been one of the worst services of my life, although I have heard good things of the coffee club. Last Saturday I visited the coffee club, I ordered a smoothie that made me inturn vomit after my visit due to spoilt yogurt. When informing the staff member she was unwilling to listen and would not atleast do anything about it because she had already been told off by the manager behind the coffee machine. It was disgusting for a $6 smoothie. Then i received my meal, whilst I ordered a toasted sandwich, I received and payed for a wrap. The wrap was average, with cold chips. Let's just say I do not advise to visit the coffee club due to this visit, even though they suprisingly pride themselves on customer service. Shit food, shit service, average coffee.

I was so surprised when the lady taking my orders knew what I usually prefer (trim latte or long black with milk on the side). And I have only visited the coffee club about 10 times in a year! Five stars for service - and the coffee is really good too!

I Dine here all the time and it is amazing, service is fantastic and the coffee is to die for

The coffee club was alright in customer service but in food quality i was dissappointed. What more is there to say, it is quite stuffy in there as well but i did like the customer care and service. ........................................................................................................................................

I can't believe no-one has reviewed this place. It's always busy, the food is great, the coffees perfect and the staff the best you'd find in a cafe anywhere. They serve meals, snacks as well as fabulous sweet treats and wonderful coffees. The decor is very cosmopolitan and to sit at the window and look down on George Street is so cool. Even when they are super-busy the wait is not that long and the service un-flustered. Definitely recommend.
