Review Seoul/mandurang Restaurant - Dunedin

Delicious pork bone soup, super big portion and the soup is thick and the pork fall off the bone. Spicy cold chewy noodles are so tangy and refreshing, very very good! Bibimbap was big portion too, enough for 2 meals for me. Very clean and organised restaurant, maybe they changed chef or manager but overall big improvement from last few years!! Will come again!

I ordered and ate mixed dumplings, jjolmyeon, kimchi stew, bulgogi rice bowl, and tteokbokki, and they were all delicious. The Korean food that Koreans taste while traveling abroad makes us so happy. If you are looking for Korean food in Dunedin, you should visit it.

Wow wow wow, these guys are incredible! The most hospitable hosts of any restaurant in Dunedin as far as I’m concerned. And the food really is as amazing as they say. Highly recommend paying these guys a visit. Thanks Derek!

A fabulous home style Korean menu. The flavours were deep and rich. We had the Kimchi Jigae, Mandu, Bulgogi hot pot, Kimchi fried rice and my boy had the squid and pork Dopbap. It's a bare bones eatery, but the food speaks volumes. My only criticism would be it needs more variety in banchan. (you do get three with each meal, just they always seem to be the same) We've been there three times only, but each time it has been delicious and is well worth your patronage. Regards Richard.

Seoul's the way to go for a good Korean meal, at least, that's the impression I get every time when my friends go! I've tried their No. 16 spicy stir fried pork on rice, which was yum, spicy and tasty but I wasn't really wowed by it, and a little more on the dryer side. However, I got the No. 39 pork sizzling plate today, and my impression was so much better, it was beautifully presented and glossy, the pork and veg proportion was perfect, and the taste was yummy (but I reckon I can make my own just as well with the unimart bugolgi sauce!) The pork pieces were perfect though, just the right amount of fatty and lean cut thinly, and the sauce a delicious tangy mildly spicy marinade. We also got sides, a neat range of bean sprouts, kimchi, boiled egg, and fish cake, good variety but I wonder what would be presented if I was just dining alone? I also tried the beef sizzling plate, which had a good slightly sweet flavor and a tender enough beef, however I definitely rate the spicy pork much better, it's way up my alley. Not a bad choice for a lunch time meal, keen to try more!

Located in a small corner is this unassuming Korean joint. Seating capacity is estimated at around 30-36 people. Ordered 2 dishes, the Korean dumpling soup and kimchi stew. The dumpling soup had 6 huge dumplings in them and the soup tasted like seafood broth. However, the after taste does stay with you a while as it’s salty. Still tasty though. The kimchi stew seems to be a combination of kimchi with topoki (Korean rice cake) sauce. The pork slices were a little disappointing but the kimchi stew goes well with the rice it came with. Throughout the meal, takeaway orders were constantly moving. Which means it’s a really popular place. IMHO, it’s alright and worth a try.

I had the Chilli pork again, not too hot and sweetie. Thin cuts of something like streaky bacon, in a tomato Chilli sauce on fat white rice, with side service of kimchi strips of turnip perhaps, and vinegar seaweed and marinated soft potato pieces...well my guess anyway. Good solid home food. Young couple who have not updated the decor forever, but it's the food people keep coming back for. Simple quick korean food... one day they will have a kdrama and they will come in here for dinner.

We had no idea what to expect when coming here but had heard from a reliable source they have the best dumplings found in dunedin and make their own dumpling skins. The dumplings didnt disappoint, we got the pan fried pork ones and they were so good! Theyd sold out of the sweet n sour dumplings which we really wanted to try! We also ordered the pork stew and spicy pork fried rice. The pork stew was like a rich tomato soup with tofu, kimchi, normal cabbage, onion etc which arrove bubbling. The spicy pork fried rice wasnt very spicy, was oily assss but was also very nice ! Pretty much everything on the menu said it was spicy so their "spicy" could be different to mine. Havent had korean food at all but the menu was pretty limited with 80% of it being hotpots/soups with a couple of rice dishes and only blackbean steamed buns. If your going to make steamed buns anyway wouldnt you do a vege and pork one too?? Also they dont have chilli oil or chilli sauce so thats a let down, only a chilli paste which was like a rih bbq sauce and not spicy! Will definately go back for the dumplings !

Tried for first time on Friday and was very pleased with my meal. Ordered the spicy tofu stew, hot pot bibimbap, dumpling soup and kimchi fried rice, all were super tasty and very decently sized, I ended up taking some home and had it for my lunch the next day. Great food, highly recommend, although restaurant was a little cold on a winters night! Will definitely be back for more.

I ordered Kimchi stew, mixed dumplings, and Tteokbokki Kimchi Stew tastes good, but it is very spicy and salty. I try to add water to make it balance. The host is kind, has good service, and it has a comfortable dinning environment, but it open at 12:00, a little bit late…

This place is pretty nice, dumpling soup is great and hotpot too. Just wished they gave more sides.

Absolutely love the food here! Bibimbap & kimchi rice are especially good. I also liked the taste of the tofu stew tho personally wasn't a big fan of the soft, almost melt in your mouth, sort of texture.

The kimchi fried rice is pre good, but the soup dishes are kinda bland

I had the hot plate Bibimbap the other week, it was delicious and has a good kick of spice to it. Highly recommend this dish, it is amazing 😁. The restaurant is very welcoming, and the staff were polite and friendly. Will be coming back again for more, that's for sure! ☺
