Been to this place twice in the last month - testimony to the yum factor in this relatively underrated Malaysian eatery.
Honestly, the interior needs a bit of a renovation but the regulars don’t seem to mind the cracked glass fountain in the front or the plants with the fairy lights from last Christmas still hanging off them.
Overall a good varied menu and the food generally excellent in flavor, taste and authenticity.
Liked:
1. Lots of variety and choice on their menu.
2. Enjoyed the chicken rice, wat tan hor and the fried kway teow.
Chicken rice does not come with the thick caramel style black sauce the way it’s served in Singapore but its equally good as the chicken has a bit of sauce which you can spoon over rice.
The wat tan hor was one of the best I’ve tasted so far in Auckland.
Chat kway teow had Chinese sausage which was surprising as lots of places don’t seem to add that ingredient.
3. Will come back to order their Kang Kong or morning glory and to try their Laksa and Yu bin mai fun or milky fish soup which looked like a generous portion and we saw lots of people ordering that at lunch time.
Big portions and super tasty. Great value during lunch hour - recommend to come as a group so you can try it all!
Came here late around 8pm on a weekday. Which is great, as I remember coming here a long time ago and it was always packed and rushed.
Food is still good, I would say one of the better Malaysian restaurant around! Service is average as usual, was seated and asked literally less a min after the menu was delivered if we were ready to order (same same asian style service).
Food cam out fast, and the portions are huge so get a few mates if you want to try out their extensive range of food!
Only down side about my meal was the fried rice noodle was a bit blend and dry.
Would visit again if I am around, but not a place I would drive out of my way to eat!
came here for lunch yesterday with friend. lots of ppl always a food thing. standard lunch price, tastes good. lots of things wanna try in menu. quite convenient for central akl and easy to park. restaurant is bigger than i thought, have more tables around the back.
Always busy but worth it for the food. This is a frequent haunt for me when I'm in the mood for some comfort food. The brisket curry and Kam Heong are my go to's!
I have been here many times, including dine in and takeouts. This place never disappoint me when it comes to Malaysian food. I honestly can't say anything bad about the food they make here. Everything taste what they should be, not overly cooked or undercooked, just right. Which is how a restaurant should function, good stable food that everyone loves.
I had the Hainanese chicken rice today, the meat was tender and juicy. The chicken rice was flavourful and not too soggy. The whole meal was decent, and was actually better than a lot of other Malaysian eateries out there in Auckland. The price was fair, I will highly recommend people to come here if they want to have some genuine food.
Taste - 4/5
Ambiance - 3/5
Service - 3.5/5
Value - 3.5/5
This is my go to for Malaysian foods. I can never get enough of the brisket curry from here. I love everything on the menu but i can never visit here with out ordering the brisket curry. Also fried tofu, prawns, char kway teow, chicken curry, fried fish, pork chop and sweet and sour are all worth ordering. Fish soup is also another very popular dish.
Prices are a lil steep but this is my treat place so makes it well worth every dollar spent.
Service here is always good and staff are always so nice.
Great authentic Malaysian food. Smell of the food took me back to Malaysia. As always loved my Teh Tarik (Malaysian pulled tea).
We ordered chicken rice, kankoong greens, and beef randang which were delicious! Highly recommended!
Definitely our favourite local Malaysian place. Love their use of thick rice noodles in the fish noodle soup. Things can be improved would be allow small size lunch dishes at dinner.
Huge portion sizes and flavourful dishes! But food tends to be oily and greasy, couldn't eat too much of the chicken before feeling like it was too oily for me... Friend was alright with it though.
More Cantonese than Malaysian. Excellent top quality food. Very tasty. Was very surprised how good it was. My parents love it and come often. We got Mongolian sizzling beef, sweet and sour pork, Hainan chicken, tofu and fried rice. All dishes were absolutely stunning and delicious. Good value for family of 4 especially given the quality and size of dishes. Recommended
My neighborhood restaurant, was never disappointed, dinning alone or with friends. If you dodge the peak hours, booking is not essential. I usually comes before 6 or after 820pm(kitchen stops taking orders soonish). Genuine M'sian food.
Found this place driving past. Easy off-street parking, even at 6pm on a Saturday night. Nice set out and decor. Hot tea on the table was refreshing and nice before, during, and after meal (stayed hot).
Prices were a bit steep with most mains around $29. We got the $26 pork chops with lots of like a sweet/sour sauce on it, a $20 Combination Fried rice with some chicken pieces in it and sliced tofu and two little prawns to the side, and the chicken wings entree. Meal came out within 10-15mins. Chops were tender and sauce delicious! Fried rice was nice, and wings had flavour/spice but were overcooked and dry (we used the extra chop sauce to compensate).
Overall though we enjoyed the meal and may go back and try other dishes.
Food =Good portion & tasty. Place=comfortable and clean. Fast service, I had full Chinese tea pot and enjoyed drinking with my food.
We ordered Hainanese chicken rice, salted fried fish and chicken noodles, and spring rolls take away. Happy to bring friends next time.
The fish noodle soup is always delicious 😋, very large portions. Curry dishes are tasty too.
Because of this place, Malaysian cuisine is now in my top 3 hands down, the most tastiest food around. Those prawns are extra nice and the oats and coconut make the best texture. The marmite pork surprised many of us and is a new taste for me and craving it right now. Will be back here as the service was second to none! Great place for family dinners and celebrations!! Everything should be shared :)
Beautiful food, really good potion. I saw all other tables are having fish noodle soup. Would love to visit again
When you think about Malaysian fish noodle soup, you think about Sri Mahkota. Legit the best fish noodle soup in town. The soup was so creamy and delicious with the soft rice noodle and fish chucks. The portion was huge so better to share with friends.
Large portions and the food is nice! The food arrives really fast too! Best to come with more people to share and try different dishes!
We also had the stir fried rice noodle which were slightly under seasoned, but it’s ok if you are eating with others as a source of carbs.
Their signature fish noodle soup is worthy of being called signature. Very good and very big portions.
