Great place to come in from the cold with an open fire creating an extremely cosy atmosphere. Really hospitable staff. Very accommodating. Dog Friendly too! Food was served so quickly and was beautiful! Muscles were a good size, cooked perfectly with the most beautiful Thai Green sauce. Battered Fish and Chips with salad was a very generous serving. The salad with the Fish and Chips was perfect with a delicious dressing. Such good value for money.

If you're a seafood lover looking for a truly exceptional dining experience, look no further than Captain's Daughter. From the moment you step into this charming restaurant, you'll be transported to a world of delicious, fresh seafood and warm hospitality. One of the standout dishes at Captain's Daughter is the scampi in garlic butter. Cooked to perfection, these succulent shrimp are perfectly complemented by the rich, garlicky sauce. And if you're looking for something light and refreshing to balance out all that seafood goodness, be sure to try the salad - it's fresh, crisp, and bursting with flavor. Of course, no meal at Captain's Daughter would be complete without a refreshing beverage to wash it down. I highly recommend the Pilsner - it's crisp, clean, and perfectly complements the flavors of the seafood. But perhaps the best part of dining at Captain's Daughter is the atmosphere. The outside garden offers a peaceful, picturesque setting in which to enjoy your meal, with views overlooking Cullen point that are simply breathtaking. Whether you're looking for a romantic dinner for two or a leisurely lunch with friends, the outdoor dining area at Captain's Daughter is sure to delight. Overall, I can't recommend Captain's Daughter enough. With its outstanding seafood, refreshing drinks, and idyllic atmosphere, this restaurant is a true gem that should not be missed.

Lovely lively restaurant in Havelock. We visited on two different occasions (dinner and late lunch) and were greeted by very welcoming staff. Sunday dinner, restaurant was very busy, staff very accommodating and found us a table, explained food will be a while but please have a drink. Our food choices arrived in good time, very delicious and plentiful. We opted for small Chowder and Summer Salad with Halloumi. Late lunch was offered snack menu as just missed end of lunch service. Plenty of choice on menu, again served very quickly and good amount of food. We opted for Green Lip mussels in Green Curry Sauce and local fish and chips. Waitress very knowledgeable about the wine choices on offer. Definitely a good recommendation in the area, we would suggest making a reservation for evening service.

A great place to break the journey between Nelson and Blenheim. Havelock is beaut little spot with a bit to see and do and some great places to eat. Being coastal tucking into some local seafood is recommended. We had the mussels and a fish burger. It was a busy lunch time. The food arrived fairly quickly and was delicious. Nothing to fault. Bookings recommended.

I was there on a rainy afternoon, the fireplace warmed the dining room which made it very inviting. When you are in the world capital for green tipped muscles, you get the muscles and they did not disappoint. Plum and flavorful with a lovely sauce. I needed more bread for dipping but the staff took care of that. Definitely worth a stop.

I would only stop for a coffee in Havelock and had a good surprise finding the Captains Daughter. Excellent ambience and food! I had the NZ Seafood Selection, then the cappuccino I was craving for.

Very nice venue (it's for sale btw!) and the burger and fish n chips were great. Be sure to sit on the back deck, where there are plenty of tables and shade sails.

On our drive from Picton to Cable Bay, we drove through Havelock, "home of the world's best green shell mussels" - according to their welcome sign - and stopped at The Captain's Daughter restaurant. For starters, we ordered the salt and pepper fresh calamari which was served with an equally delicious salad. Next, we both ordered the steamed green shell mussels (one green curry sauce and one wine and garlic). Both were delicious, but the star of the table was the green curry sauce. We skipped the desserts which looked delicious in favour of a café macchiato l, which our server, Vicky, was unsure of how to make. In a display of going above and beyond, she Googled how to make it and made the BEST macchiato I think we have ever had! Thank you, Vicky, Ella and chef, for an unexpectedly memorable meal. ps: the restaurant is for sale, should anyone want to invest this gem.
