Review Denny's - Manukau

First time here so decided Sunday brunch was on! Lots of car parks around restaurant. Fairly well signed to find it. Good service, yet minimal service. Good menus and lots of options for choice. Tried the Denny Benny meals and bacon pancakes. Pretty good! Good flavours, plenty of food on the plate, cooked well, although the mushrooms and hash were a bit greasy. Pancakes were a good size, would have loved the bananas caramelized a bit more. Cup of coffee and tea included in the meals was nice. Large teapot for one with a small cup made for many refills. Prices were fair (22-24 for the Benny's, 22 for the pancakes). Would go again.

I usually order the same thing everytime I come here so I can't speak for any other dish other than the hot fudge dessert and oreo shake (which hadn't been delivered yet), but this place is consistently good. I understand other people have had bad experiences but I've never had a bad service. Its not always great as sometimes I feel theyre tired and want to go home but theyre always respectful. With that said, I planning coming back to get the same thing

Service was generally good, atmosphere was reasonable, and there was lots of space when we went. On the brunch menu, plenty of meals come with complimentary tea and toast, which is very handy. The portion sizes are large. The value for money here is fantastic.

Was feeling a bit hungry so had a quick google and it showed this place was open 24/7 so off we went at midnight and the place was packed. Quickly joined then line and was seated in 10 minutes and had our food not long after l. Staff were great food was good pattys could be better but all in all was a satisfying feed

The beautiful thing about this place is that it's 24/7 and caters for any budget and diner. I loved my food and monkey bowl cheese sauce. Drinks are great and staff are friendly and welcoming.

Consistently decent food, their standards have been maintained for many years and still a good goto any time of the night or day when you want a feed and can’t be bothered cooking! 😀

Weighing up affordability and quality, the food here can't be beaten. You pay for a hearty meal and that's what you get. I ordered the apricot chicken with the white sauce and chips, and the chicken was cooked to absolute perfection. They're not stingey with the sauces and we were too full to order desert. For two adults ordering drinks and a meal, we paid about $37 each which is unheard of in this economy. Some people turn their noses up at Denny's but if you're wanting a good and filling meal at any time of the day or night, they're your best bet. It only got a four though because even though it's definitely family friendly, it seemed a bit dirty and run-down and it smelled like cigarettes.

Great customer service, pork ribs stake with salad was yummy yummy. Love there Buffalo chicken wings delicious. The atmosphere was great. Waiting time for our mains only take 10mins. If you're looking for a good meal, I recommend this place for lunch. Thanks to all the staff. Awesome service.

Hadn't been to Dennys for a few years, but enjoyed my meal there on 9.1.2022. I had a satay roll then chocolate cake and ice cream for dessert plus a mango smoothie. They were all fresh and delicious and we didn't have to wait long for our food. My sister had a pancake stack with butter, some spring rolls, a chocolate milk shake and a coke. She didn't complain so it must have been delicious.

I ordered a single shot coffee as I don't drink full strength. No-one explained a normal coffee at Denny's is a single shot, so a full strength coffee. I only found out when it arrived and could smell/see it was full strength. It wasn't busy, so a quick explanation could have been mentioned when ordered. It was replaced with no issue.

We ordered a chilli dog but then got given a beef steak roll, so they had to take it back n bring us a chilli dog which took almost an hour for the overall wait time for our food. Then my friend asked for a fettucini carbonara with no mushrooms because he's allergic but then when it came there were mushroom in there and it clearly stated on the receipt no mushrooms. When we asked the manager there about that (Asian with glasses) he was super rude and was like "no we can't take it out, you want to cancel the order?" Thats it, no sorry, or no like we can replace your meal with something else n just snatched the food and left. He went and yelled at the waitress in front of customers and just most of the staff were unprofessional. Loved coming here for dinners last year when the other manager was there, he was very pleasant but not since he left. The food was good and everything but compared to everything else, sure to say not coming back here anytime soon.

Its a hit and miss with this place, went there on Hubby's birthday, and even with the place being exceptionally busy, service was good, food came out in reasonable time, portion size was good as well as the taste, I was drawn to coming back again couple days later because I enjoyed the Apricot chicken. It was huge disappointment, staff was good, the place was not that busy but food took ages to arrive, asked for water, didn't get any 😔 Coffee was delicious but my Apricot Chicken was tasteless, tasted nothing like the meal I had few days ago. Fries were bland, last time I think they added chicken salt. The worst food was my husband chicken curry, what you see in the Menu is NOT what you get. For $25 the portion size was a kids meal, we felt ripped off, seems the food was reheated until all the sauce thickened, the serving size was 1/3 of the bowel. The curry was mushy pieces of chicken tossed in cheap curry sauce, we could taste the excess tumeric tinkling on our tongues.  Husband and I vowed not to come back. Personally I dislike the seating, the tables are far off and I felt like eating my food from my lap because I couldn't lean back or eat my food at the same time. The dividers are weak and I got bumped several times on my back. Our food was horrid and seating was uncomfortable. Pick the chairs if you are small person, I had food fall on my lap when I tried to lean and reach my food. Unfortunately we'd only eat there twice a year because of their birthday deal. Never ever order Chicken curry, I am Fiji Indian, I know what a curry should taste like. Staff are good but am sorry to say Food and seating experience ruined the entire lunch, we'd avoid this place like a plague until next birthday. I guess its mostly busy because kids eat free and caters large groups.

Waiting staff were all chewing which I thought was a poor look. The staff all looked disinterested in serving us & showed no interest in serving us once we found our own table!<br/>On a good note the food was really good as usual.

If someone has a preference for where they’d like to sit and there is no one there, and it’s clean. I’m not sure why am attitude needs to be given from the person serving us and the other workers. <br/><br/>Lucky for us Denny’s in New Lynn will remain our regular spot.

I came here for my birthday my burger patty was over cooked extremely dry. Waited half an hour for my dessert had to ask at front desk that I hadn’t received my dessert. Then they accused me of already having my dessert.. :(

I came here a few days ago after not visiting for over a year. The service was so bad! I’ve never seen it this bad before. Workers are slow, most have an attitude and aren’t very welcoming or hospitable. We waited around 15 minutes for someone to take our order even though it wasn’t very busy and also we were seated right next to the kitchen so we were very obvious to see. They have extremely downgraded and I’ve been going here since I was a child. The service and the food have never been as bad as it was recently. We ordered salt and pepper squid tasted weird, had a rubbery chewy texture which was unpleasant.

I’m not usually a fan of Denny’s but my experience was better than I expected. The new interior is pretty cool. We had a group of 20 people and we were seated within 15 minutes. Everyone enjoyed their food. The buffalo wings, pork ribs, curly fries, and hot fudge cake were the most popular things ordered. For something different I ordered the spinach and mushroom Benny which I really liked. My Dad only got the sirloin steak and the meal was not enough for him. If you’re a big eater, it’s probably best to get an appetiser and a main course. The salad that comes with some meals can be better. They did forget some of our orders (probably because there were so many of us) but they were quick to fix it. So they were really on point last night.

New interior looks way better but customer service is not up to standards. Most of the waitresses get ‘annoyed’ if you were served food you didn’t order or if you asked to remove a certain ingredient out of the meal. An instance where we were treated rudely made me walk out of the restaurant before receiving the meals we ordered. On a quiet Sunday night, 45 minutes wait to be served & a further 30 minutes to receive a glass of juice didn’t cut it that night.

I got the Chicken Fettuccine which was really disappointing, there was only 3 tiny bits of chicken, way to garlicky and the portion was very small for the price and the garlic bread was small and not that great. The veges were very nice. My mum enjoyed her steak. The service was great too. The cocktail tasted strange.

Excellent new renovated place. Food wise not so great, can definitely do better like their brunch in New Lynn (recommend). 3rd time here and everytime has been a disappointment. Hopefully they can put more effort into making their food taste better.<br/><br/>I ordered beef Nacho's and what I got was nothing at all like beef Nacho's but more like Nacho chips and sour cream, with 3% beans and 5% of some sauce that these beans were cooked in.<br/><br/>It tasted absolutely nothing like beef, loads of cheese, definitely no taste!<br/><br/>Like I said, my third time here and it has been a disappointment. If ever thinking of going to Denny's, New Lynn brunch is worth going to.<br/><br/>

We arrived at 7:30pm and were seated immediately and given our menus from the hostess. But then our time at Denny's took a nose dive from that point onwards, it took awhile for someone to come and take our order and the only reason someone came to our table was because I called the waitress to our table. Once taking our orders she didn't even ask how we wanted our eggs or what type of bread we wanted for our toast. The kitchen received our order at 8:19pm but we didn't get our final meal until 9:09pm. Each persons meal came out separately and at least 10mins apart so each person was eating alone instead of as a family. Our waitress looked very tired and run off her feet and the waiter who took over from her unsure of what he was doing. All in all a very unhappy experience at Denny's.

I love their curly fries! Apart from that it's a pretty average place. Been here so many times.. but recently I feel like their service is kinda fading.<br/><br/>Went on a Friday one day and I felt so sorry for the one staff at the front because you could see how understaffed they were. There was a long wait about 40mins - only waited because it was late and other restaurants near by would have been closing soon. (Actually debated just going to McDonalds). Anyway once we got seated, obviously ordered curly fries... when we got it there was hair stuck between the curly fries! This has never happend before.. anyway we didn't make a big fuss as we were over it after the long wait. I was so embarrassed though as I was the one who had recommended coming to Denny's that night.<br/><br/>ps: the photo is not from the day we found hair in the curly fries. Probably the worst food I have had in Auckland. Ice cold and burnt. Overdone eggs. Hash brown from the last century and over an hour wait time for that!

This place does not value their customers at all. They were not even sincere to apologise after having making us wait 45 minutes just to order(coming to us after taking all orders that had come after us). The Indian man just accepted us leaving esp on a bad note. He was happy for us to walk out so I have no time to give business to a place like this. <br/>Worst functionality, sort your business out. The owner should really sort their staff out to have a business in NZ because social media is large and bad name like this gets around.

Came here for lunch on Saturday.. I ordered the chicken curry it was ok, chicken was dry the sauce needed to be cooked out longer.. my partner ordered the rump steak he liked his steak and the gravy.. we also ordered the curly fries and the sampler.. fries were yum not too keen on the sampler wasn't great.. overall was ok.. staff are friendly,.. I will be coming back again would like to try the breakfast menu..

- Mushroom Burger was okay. Lettuce was fresh at least lol. Curly fries didn't taste as good as they were years ago.<br/><br/>- Partner had the Mushroom Steak and his steak was dry and tasted old. He asked for medium rare and only part of it was medium rare, the rest was well done. His fries tasted like they microwaved.<br/><br/>- Sampler platter was a let down, all tasted so old, I didn't like any of it. It was meant to be our appetizer but it came with our mains instead.<br/><br/>- Macaroon Brownie was actually nice. I reckon the desserts are the best things on the menu tbh.<br/><br/>- The whole venue doesn't look appealing. The colour scheme is so off and it was a bit yucky seeing dirty walls with cobwebs. Even the parking has a lot of pot holes lol.<br/><br/>- If I were to come back here again, it would either be for breakfast or dessert.<br/><br/>- Service was okay but it could be better.<br/>

Last night i went to dennys for my birthday dinner along with family. Took awhile to be seated and then the 1st entree order was order together nd the buffalo wings were raw and i had to ask them 3x for my daughters potato and gravy.2nd of all every1 around us gt water and we didnt so i askd and gt a jug with no cups. How bloody rude.mains finally gt 2 us 2 hours after being there. Poor service our dishes sat on our table to we were ready to leave. Useless service and yuk food. Spend extra to go broncos for a 4 star plus meal. Wnt be back again.

I use to come here a Lot the place needs a revamp Waited for 15mins what was worse people were getting served b4 us. Finally seated ordered mocha girl came out with cappuccino. Asked what fish they are using said red or blue my cousin ordered the chicken very rubbery, my entree was fish fillets not that good.

The sundae was plain ice cream and cream on top. One of the worst food establishments I have ever been to. The food is mediocre at best, and costs a fortune. Do not plan to revisit this place any time soon.

Went here for my birthday staff were friendly we didnt wait long for our food however this is where it turned bad fries were barely warm my chicken was dry best part was the hot fudge cake. Not sure I will go again

Had some friends from overseas over, wanted to get a quick bite before flying back home. 20mins to get beverages after ordering, messed up 2 orders (gave a basketball player a kids meal, funny as heck hahaha but not cool) , forgot toast for one order, milkshake came after son finished his meal. Omelette wasn't an omelette, It was scrambled eggs over veges.<br/><br/>Wasn't even fully busy and still messed up. Good thing you guys don't work for tips. Forgot to take pics cause I was hangry.<br/><br/>My bad had to write a review but you guys embarrassed me and our beloved Dennys. Sorry but not sorry.

Food was really good and prices were very affordable. I had the veggie burger and it was really yummy. Staff were prompt and polite. I Would love to come back here again.

Guess what makes Denny's so popular is they are open around the clock and offer such an array of dishes on their menu. I have noticed the hike in their prices over the years. The food quality has also dropped a bit. A good option though when feeling hungry and you're not too sure what you want to eat.

Denny’s is 24/7 best place to go when you have mid night munchies. Breakfast, lunch or dinner I’m never let down with portions. They have a wide verity of meals that will satisfy your taste buds. Only one thing that I’m let down with the service of Denny’s is that they take a long time to come get your order. I always hope that it’s just a slow ordering day but it seems to happen every time I’m in there. Other then that I’m happy when my meal arrives and will always visit with an empty stomach to satisfy. <br/>

Mine and my husband’s go-to place when we can’t decide where to get a feed (aside from maccas). I love the food here! I can never get enough of their buffalo wings paired with some curly fries. Also, they started giving activity/drawing sheets to kids while we wait for our food. What a lifesaver from restless toddlers!<br/><br/>4 stars because the look, layout and ambiance of the place can still be better what is is now.

Yes it's Denny's, but yes it has great vegetarian food! They recently added a heap more veggie options to their menu, and the portion sizes are large for the money. I got the veggie skillet which was huge, and really delicious too. Whether you need breakfast, lunch or a midnight snack, these guys have got you covered! They offer veggie sandwiches, omelettes, burgers, pancakes, waffles, and desserts, as well as alcoholic drinks, smoothies & milkshakes. The decor is a little outdated, but please don't let it put you off! The staff are really attentive, and service is quick even when they are full. Also open all night, which is pretty good. Try it!

Denny interior hasnt changed since the last time I was here which was years ago. Mediterranean lamb dish was dissapointing. Lamb wasnt fresh, overcooked and overseasoned. Entree platter tasted like it was heated up in the microwave and I could tell they were all packaged foods. Fries were all well cooked and crispy. Premium burger was sloppy and delish also the salty squid bites.was my fave! Service from staff was good. Will only return to Dennys if there are no other options i.e late night feeds.

I wouldnt recommend this place. Services was slow ; didnt receive food until like 1 and a half hours later.. was cold... shells still on eggs.. rushed and unpleasent. Hair on food. Also this other couple never got their food untill they had left. Poor utterly disgusted.

What can I say about this place? I would not recommend the manukau branch to anyone. Not only is the service bad but the food is awful!! The tables and menu are all sticky with food splatters - I was just wondering that if the front of the restaurant is so gross how would the kitchen look like that paying customers

I have been to Dennys manukau 30+ times in the past few years and I guess I never learn. <br/><br/>I was here last night (26 June 2018). I am honestly so disappointed, I actually use to love coming here but I no longer do.<br/><br/>The service was good, our waitress was very polite. However...<br/><br/>My mum ordered the fettuccine carbonara and it was so dry as if it were made yesterday and was just sitting there and then warmed up before being served.<br/><br/>We ordered 4x banana fritters and I was homestly surprised at how fast they came after we ordered our dessert. It wasnt hot, nor was it mushy. It seemed as if they had hust peeled the banana and coated it in the crumb batter and put it on the plate. <br/><br/>We ordered so many sides to eat with our main meals such as mushrooms, sauces, eggs and they were not bought to the table until 15 minutes after being served our mains. And by then we no longer needed them as we had already ate majority of our food because it was getting cold.<br/><br/>All in all it was overpriced and we will definitely not be going back there. We wasted $300+ last night, its a pity the food didn't meet the prices we paid for them. Will rather go to Dennys on Hobson street. <br/><br/>Sorry, Dennys Manukau. It's a NO from me!<br/><br/>

Giving a 1* is already generous! Look at the beef rendang that looks nothing like the photo. I expected my rendang to have a gravy, but instead it was dry, ginger mushed beef! First time coming here with my girlfriend and I paid $90 for this! I ended up leaving and buying a triple cheese burger from McDonalds! Will never return to this place ever again! #SaveYourMoney #YouveBeenWarned

The second time I have been here. The exterior is very tired and need of an update. Interior is also a bit worn.<br/><br/>Prompt service and seating even though it was during the busy weekend lunch period. Service was friendly and helpful with extra request for the kids. Food was good no complaints there.<br/><br/>Would have appreciated the menus being wiped down they were so sticky. As was the bathroom floor didn't seem like it had been cleaned in ages.<br/><br/>This place has huge potential just needs a bit of looking after. I would come back again.

Last went here some years ago and had a pleasant experience however I`m afraid to go back after reading all the negative reviews so count me out Dennys, fix your rude staff problems.

I know denny is slightly over priced but it worth eating at with the islander manager he's so nice me and my partner go to dennys a lot because we only get time to eat at places that are opened late. I think he deserves a pay increase.....

Went here the other day with my son to do a takeaway order. Ordered a hot fudge brownie with chocolate sauce & vanilla ice cream. As the lady brought it to us she dropped it on the floor so chocolate sauce went throughout the plastic bag. She didnt offer to remake it or anything and let us walk out of the restaurant with it like that. Wont be going back again.

Dennys is my go-to restaurant. <br/><br/>The food is delicious (not so good for the waistline lol) and the staff are lovely. Because my family go there often the staff even know our orders. Today I took my parents there for breakfast after work and we ordered an Ultimate Omelette, a budget breakfast (my dad said he was on a diet haha) and a Pulled Pork Melt. <br/><br/>The food was fried goodness and the chef was not shy with the chips, giving us heaps (which is always a positive in my books). In terms of pricing, Denny's is not that expensive and our meal came up to $41 so it is definitely a restaurant that will suit larger families or groups who are looking to dine on a budget.<br/><br/>My family and I have always loved dining at Denny's, it is a Sunday regular in our household and a restaurant we can rely on to deliver good food and service. <br/><br/>So if you are looking to eat a lot of food at a chill, relaxed restaurant with inexpensive dining prices and lovely staff then give Denny's a go. <br/><br/>

Food was very poor quality. Lamb chops were pretty much raw, fatty and sinewy. The nachos came with what I guess was a salsa but was so watery it was inedible. Beer was room temperature. Kids enjoyed the fries but that was about it. Wish we had read reviews before deciding to go, as we would have decided not to. Will not be back.

This is the worst restaurant i've been in my entire life!!!! The waitresses that serves us were really RUDE! They wouldnt even smile, you can really see in their faces that they are not happy to served the customers! The food is not good either! Will def not recommend it to anybody!

Don't come here unless you want your vehicle stolen or broken into!!!! <br/><br/>As much as you love Denny's Manukau - You can find a better restaurant outlet where your car will not be broken in to or stolen!!!! The food looks great but it's rather bland it's filling but again it's really the tomato sauce and the mayo that have the taste chips are always fun and yummy but your chilli beans needs flavor and ur meat patties need some seasoning. Pancakes tastes like premixed wont have those again. The server was fantastic keep her on I gave good rating due to service and wait time for food

I have been going to Denny's for many years with my family and friends.  Yesterday I took my daughter and family to the Manukau branch.  My daughter and I ordered Nachos and were very disappointed with the meal served up to us.  plenty of nachos hardly any meat and very bland not worth the money paid for it.  Other wise the desserts were good but no long spoon for the sundaes made it hard to eat with little spoons.  So we came await feeling very disappointed and not sure with we will return to Denny's in the future.

Came here with a group of friends. Service was average here. One guy who was working that night seemed a little lost...<br/><br/>Ordered their buffalo wings - so weird they make it with sweet chilli sauce but ordered it anyways. It wasn't what I was expecting. The chicken wasn't that nice, kind of dry and there wasn enough sour cream 👎🏽<br/><br/>Got their fettuccine bolognese for the main and it was nice and there was quite a lot of sauce which ended up colouring my lips bright orange 😥 the side of salad was quite dry too - not enough or no dressing at all. <br/><br/>Good place to have a quick, no fuss meal.

Chips were nothing exciting but at least not salty. <br/>Wedges were yum but definitely needed more bacon in it. Was crispy and not dried out. Sweet chilli should come with it though and not have to pay extra. <br/>Place was tidy and service was attentive.

Been here twice now. Always busy, we came around 11pm and it was still packed. I think it should be renovated inside but then it's always open so unsure how they would do that. Service was great and fast. The food isn't too bad, didn't really like the fries much. I did love the Vege burger though, by far the best Vege burger I've had. My partner had the lamb steak the first time we visited and wasn't impressed, claimed it was too chewy. The veggies that accompanied his steak were huge! I would've loved it without the cheese sauce. Nonetheless, the drinks, banana berry smoothie and feijoa smoothie, tasted great.

Denny's, in my humble opinion, is an overpriced family restaurant. Although portions are quite big and most food taste okay, these still do not justify their ridiculous pricing.<br/><br/>Waiting time for food to be served is approximately 20 to 30 minutes. Wait staff are courteous, but some are a bit slow to respond to customer call outs. Some tables are also left uncleaned for a long time, which is a huge turn off especially for a busy place like Denny's.

Was quiet in the restaurant. Customer service was nice and friendly. We got nachos and premium burgers. Enjoyed our food and it Came out fast. Had crumbs all over our booths chairs when arrived so could have been cleaner. Otherwise was good. Have been a few times and at times the food and customer service has let us down hence the rating I have given

This was my first time dining at Denny's. The place is hideously busy - we had to wait about an hour at 3pm on a Sunday. The lady who served us was very rude as she just threw the menu at us and the way she looked at us was very unwelcoming and disrespectful. She did not write down the proper meals and the drinks we ordered (Sprite) did not come, until we asked them 3 times after nearly an hour there. The tables and sofas had grease, gum and pastry pieces stuck to it. The food there was decent (premium burger & fettuccine carbonara), but the fries were hard and stale. The same lady who ordered our food started sweeping the floor right next to us, and she told us to move our legs so she could sweep the table underneath. We were very confused by that. Overall, my experience with Denny's Manukau was terrible and I will never visit this place again.

Been here a few times. <br/>The wait is long as here and it takes ages to get food but the food is like any other dennys food and its pretty good. I always get the millenium burger :D

Came here for dessert with a friend after dinner and we were both just filled with disappointment after our first bite.<br/><br/>We both got the peanut butter lava cake as it was on the flyer thingy, on the table. We also had to wait for a table because the place was so busy. We were seated it took aaaaaaaaages for someone to take our order and then aaaaaaaaaages for the desserts to arrive.<br/><br/>The lava cakes were lukewarm. It was as if they had been heated in the microwave. It was stale and dry. No amount of cream, sauce or water would have saved it. <br/><br/>Such a disappointment. I didn't even finish mine because it was that dry.<br/><br/>

Curly fries. .<br/> Denny's is the only restaurant I know that's serves you up food 24/7 it's great when you really need a feed at all hours. <br/><br/> We ordered the chilli fries but opted to swap the original fries for curly fries and buffalo wings! Buffalo wings have always been deliciously good, drenched in sauce and cheesy goodness! And they always do some damn good fries. Good price point, I've sampled most things on the menu, but curly fries and buffalo wings are my favourites:<br/><br/> Staff are friendly and attentive, the waiters on the night really cracked us up haha. <br/><br/> I've had some good experiences with Denny so definitely will be back for more carbs and protein haha.

We're regulars here and come sometimes once a week to twice a month. The reason for my review is because on one occasion I ordered the lamb shanks and it was appalling! The meat was undercooked and rough! From my experience, lamb shank meat should fall off the bone! Not be so tough that you have to pick it up from the bone and eat it like a animal! With that aside we thoroughly enjoy the other dishes that we have tasted which is basically all the mains lol. If I could give any feedback in regards to our experience with the lamb shank, it would be; that the cook actually tastes a shank before serving it. And I don't mean the actual shank that you're gna send out to your customer either. It's a perfect place to eat late night when you really can't be bothered cooking.

waitresses there are rude. eggs benny 2 drinksoreo shake millienium burger and curly fries price is almost 60 $they watch you from behind there counter and look at you as if they are saying something about you disgusting and rude never will be back again

dennys manukau i took family their for lunch Very dissapointed had lady serving us  and coughing at same time very slow for taking our order had onion rings battered not ordering that again couldnt chew it. chips tasteless battered chicken sticks..... last time we will be going their heading back to hamilton

Waste of money!!! Denny's Manukau is probably the worst one I've eaten at. We ordered Surf and Turf and the steak was overdone, the special sauce just tasted like mayo mixed with something else *disgusting* also the mushroom sauce we ordered was just gravy with mushrooms in it??? There were only 2 other couples when we came in yet we waited over an hour for our food. Never coming back here!

The food is great at Dennys Manukau, very popular restaurant & usually always busy, reservations not required but would book for a large group. We visited for dinner 25/11, ordered the spare ribs, satay chicken skewers, burgers & fries, ham & cheese omelete and the must have warm choc fudge cake. Staff were very friendly & efficient, restaurant was clean & tidy. Will definitely be coming back again.

Seriously overpriced. Only come here if you're desperate for dessert at 2am otherwise avoid it like the plague. Service is generally ok but the food has been slapped together without any thought or care

Waitresses was rude. Tables were dirty and my sisters meal smelt like it had gone passed it's use by date. My meal was ok. Pretty expensive for what you get surprised they are always busy?

So crap the food is so expensive and it's crap the steak is a joke and they have stopped serving a few desserts the wait time is ridiculous aswell

Presentation was poor at best. Someone has just thrown stuff at a plate and sent it out. Taste pretty good actually I was surprised. Veges consisted of a mountain of carrot and a mountain of broccoli. Would have been nice to have a bit more variety. The place is looking really run down and screaming for a refit. The service was poor with waitresses that speak so softly you have to ask them to repeat and another who spoke in half sentences. I guess the local young market speaks like that these days. Lol. I'll never be back.

Quickly seated and drinks order taken. I ordered coffee which arrived within 2 minutes unfortunately its not very hot. Food ordered and arrived within 10 minutes. I always love Denny's breakfast menu with the extras I order and it has yet to fail. <br/>HOWEVER I will never ever go back for dinner at the Manukau one based on my experiences 2 mths ago thus the low rating.

Unfortunately, we have not had a great experience at this Denny's. Rang early in the week to book for 25 (Not allowed but was given the okay by Neil) Re confirmed that all was okay today. Turned up this evening and they could not accommodate.

Apart from long waiting times the experience here has been good. The food is normally delicious and the deserts are amazing. The atmosphere is great and most of the time we have had good service

First things first. If you expect to have a relaxing dinner in a place where you are treated like royalty, then this place is not for you. :-) First of all, this place doesn't accept reservations, so expect to wait (and wait and wait, if you are willing) during busy times. Then, you will be herded to your table like cattle. Need I say more? :-)<br/><br/>However, I'm giving Denny's a 4.0 for the following reasons:<br/><br/>1) They serve food in very decent portions (read as according to the price tag). Some items are probably meant to be shared.<br/><br/>2) Their food taste great. The desserts are lovely. My husband's favorite? Shank on Mash. My favorite? Chicken & Corn Soup, Nachos, Curly Fries, Salmon Benny, Bread & Butter Pudding, and Chocolate Steam Pudding.<br/><br/>3) They are open 24/7. Yes there is another place we all know that serves food 24/7, but not like this food. Denny's is our go-to place on our way home from long drives south of Auckland. One such occasion was last weekend. And... I really liked their hot chocolate--it wasn't too sweet like all the other hot chocolate drinks served elsewhere.<br/><br/>

Always come for dessert when I'm craving a chocolate cake fix. Never disappointed with the Hot fudge cake, my favourite. Love the hot choc sauce, melting the vanilla ice cream centre and the whipped cream with the cherry on top. The runner up is the peanut butter lava cake. My husband tried the banana split and it was ok. Customer Service is decent. Can't complain. They are attentive when not really busy. Highly recommend to anyone who has the urge for chocolate hot sauce, cake and cream.

Service is great, food comes out fresh and at a decent pace. Environment is pretty good too, when it is busy I still can hear myself talk and think. Pricing is kind of over the moon, food is pretty good as well as the quantity you get with it.

Denny's Manukau, wow what a disappointment ! Haven't been back to this one for years ! Decided to pop in with two friends after a night of poker and well wishes to one of the friends as he heads off to get married in Ratotonga, seated quickly, ordered quickly, Husband and I ordered lamb steak and chicken melt sandwich, and x4 S.O.D - mushroom for the table. Waitress asked if we wanted soup for entree but we decided to have the lot in one hit, meals came out fairly quickly, mains before the soup, go figure, waitress brings two mushroom soups pit then tell us they don't have enough for other two would they care for vegetable soup. Husband and I decide to share one mushroom soup and cancel one and bring X1 vegetable soup. Couple minutes later waitress brings x1 mushroom and x1vegetable?? Ok, by this time I've already eaten half my main and examining husbands lamb steak meal. I forgot to mention he ordered medium for steak. Came out med/rare and gross looking ! Not appealing at all and especially not for $30!! He didn't eat any of it and ate half my one, when waitress cleared table I told her the situation with soup and lamb steak, manager on duty tried to charge us for steak but not soup! WTH?? Don't worry we didn't end up paying for it, but come on Denny's Manukau! I gave a 2 for parking and....and.... Mmmmm would not go back!

Food is nice I love the lamb shank.<br/>But I don't understand why ordering is always late I've left a few times because it took to long to be seated.

I'm a massive fan of Dennys! Has a great affordable menu, and awesome service. My regulay is the Millenium Burger with curly fries - though sometimes when I'm with friends and not that hungry I'll hit the soup! :) 10/10

Terrible customer service right from start. Shown our table, no menus given until we asked for them. A staff member making desserts in kitchen from where I could see her prepping food handling it with her hands, no tongs or gloves used! When food arrived my sister's soup was served with it splattered on the edges of bowl like it had just been dumped in the bowl. Drinks came out almost the same time as the food. The waitress that served us earlier never came checked on our table. Had to wave down another waitress for a couple of glasses of water that never made it to our table. Had to go see a staff member to get a takeaway plate for my sons meal. As we couldn't find a waitress to request one while still waiting for water. Went to pay for meals, while waiting in the queue another lady in front of me wanting to see the manager to complain about staff language and the racket from the kitchen while customers were eating. Service used to be good along with food 5+ years ago. Never eating here again and would advise anyone else not to. Rip off and not even worth the money you spend there for crap service and crap food! Better service and food at a fast take aways such as Wendy's or BK.

Always going here whenever we crave for some steak. Denny's, Manukau branch in particular, became our quick fix for diner cravings. Everytime we eat here, it's different. In a way that their service is not consistent. Sometimes it's so good that it feels like it's worth every dollar spent. Sometimes, like today, feels like 'why do we keep on coming back at this resto?' <br/><br/>We ate here today with my friends. First thing was the menu they handed us was greasy. Second, tables were uncleaned. Third, our food was served longer than it should be. Fourth, I ordered for a MEDIUM RARE steak, and the gave me WELL DONE. I did not have it returned to the kitchen because I was already really hungry and I was thinking it will take time for them to make a new one again, and I am not willing to wait anymore. Fifth, the salad that went together with my steak was not fresh anymore. It feels like it was already out on the pass for a loooooong time before they served it to our table. To think that the diner wasn't that busy at all and there are a lot of vacant seats. <br/><br/>On our way home, I was having regrets again 'Why did we chose to eat here again???' <br/><br/>We really like denny's (during the times their service is good) I just hope they can maintain the good standard and be consistent with the food and service quality.

Had lunch with the family as usual here for a treat, totally loved the buffalo wings and everyone enjoyed their meals, a bit on the pricey side especially for starters, overall always enjoy our Denny's experience....service was very good but slow coz the restaurant was full!

It is official that Dennys (Manukau) has lost a customer, and everyone I know will hear about it. Just spent $94.00 for a family meal (2 adults, 2 children) and was the biggest waste of money. <br/><br/>The experience started with the worst service ever. The staff member that approached me by the reception area looked me straight in the eye, and didn't even greet me, even after I greeted him first. He simply shouted someone's name across my shoulder, and left me standing. When he eventually came back, we were given a table for 4, but I think this table might have been in a blind spot of the restaurant. After we have been given our menus and 4 sets of cutlery plonked on the end of the table, that was it. We were not asked to drink something, not even water. 20 or so minutes had passed before any attendance was given to us.<br/>By this time, we knew exactly what we wanted and knew exactly how much it costs, so we thought...<br/><br/>I have ordered a burger for $15, that has french fries with it, and with the option of curly fries. When I went and paid, they charged me $17.50 for the burger, and further down the bill, another $2.50 for curly fries instead of french fries.<br/><br/>Never was I told that there was an extra charge for the curly fries, but they don't refund you for the french fries (So be aware for the the curly fries scam at Dennies)!<br/><br/>I will never mention the deep fried mess the rest of my family had.<br/>I used to love Dennies from years ago, me and my Wife had great memories there when we were courting, and wanted to show my children a piece of history.<br/><br/>I was deeply disappointed in the quality of the service and food, even my children hated it!<br/><br/>I do not recommend Denny's to anyone, and I am sure it will carry on for generations. None of my family members will go there again.

They need to upgraded everything. Food is average but I've made better at home. But its good after a night at the movies or a chilled bite to have with friends for a catch up. I usually go to denny's with my partner to have something sweet.

Been there after movie night from manukau events. It was quite busy. Had to wait 10 minutes to get a table. Food was good. Fast service. Loved their curly fries first time.

Went here for dinner last Friday night because most of the other restaurants were fully booked. I called them half an hour before going there to make a reservations and they said they don't do that. When I got there they made us sit on the waiting area and we had to wait for about 20 minutes till we got seated. Again, I asked if we could order since we already knew what we were going to get and once again, they said no. So after being seated, waited for ages until someone finally went to our table to take our order. Then had to wait again for our food. You could imagine how hungry we must have. Food was pretty average. I went with a family friend who just came from overseas and he said he wanted to give the waitress a tip just because it's something he does and the waitress didn't even seem grateful at all. Another thing is that they had iced tea on their menu but when I asked for it they said they don't serve it anymore? I'm sorry but I probably won't be going back

Stomping ground of those found drinking late into friday night and in need of food before driving back north. While those days are a distance memory Dennys formula has to be a winning one as they still do a fabulous trade.people queuing waiting for seats when the meals are not super cheap and reasonably polished.<br/>I rate Dennys compared to others in its peer class and not against a fine dining establishment or against say a cafe. Dennys is similar to roast bars; Valentines and steak and chip joints. General audience meals not R16 so to speak. No booze open 24 hours and appeals to kids, students families then morphs into a late night diner after movie lookup and yes for those on the juice!!<br/>Buffalo wings starter $20 is not cheap but you get almost a main dish of wings in a good marinade. 4/5<br/>Mains shank and mash - good sized portion roast bar like veges ie overcooked. Mash potato and gravy leaves Kfc variety for dead. Smallish lamb shank. 4.5/5<br/>Chicken curry w rice- very average curry probably used powder lacks authenticity and looked le a leftover reheated from home. 2.5/5<br/>Super yummy desserts. Recommend the bread n butter pudding for something not too sweet. Comes with lovely sauce and scoop od vanilla and spoon of cream. 5/5<br/>Hot choc pudding was really sweet. Pudding was not soft but ok. Lots of ice cream and generous serving 3/5. Anniversary of 25 years well done Dennys!!

Average food for the average joe... I went here 9 years ago and then i went last week nothings changed its still the same felt like a blast from the past! Compared to all your new restaurants these days i guess dennys would be your last resort when your wasted af 3oclock in da am on the munchies and happen to be in maniks!

Very outdated decor, things are in need of a good clean and a few repairs.The staff never look enthused and they're often unprofessional/loud in our direct ear/sighting while preparing meals. It's also often busy and loud from customers during dinner hours. I have received dirty cutlery twice, and there has been large amounts of dropped food left on the floor from previous diners where we were seated. I even saw the staff member seating us look at it then ignore it, before we asked to be seated elsewhere.In saying that, I have been multiple times and most dishes I have, I do enjoy. The Honey Mustard Chicken is actually to die for. Along with their Aioli. Unfortunately the atmosphere/service there overshadows the food. But when we're in Auckland and wanting a casual lunch, not expecting anything too nice, we're happy to come here.

Busy, Family Rated, yummy fulling food. bit of a downer how the price has gone up as this is a casual busy family place on Saturday nights and have to wait for a table. would I come here again? mm maybe. they need toothpicks or mint just to compliment their customers.

Come here all the time just for dessert love the chocolate fudge cake comes with ice-cream, whipped cream, hot choc sauce & a cherry on top , the portion is pretty good for only $7.50 haven't really tried anything else on the menu!

Was a good dinner. Took a bit long for it to come but the service was great and friendly. Wouldn't be in a rush to go back any time soon though.

What a disappointment. Food was cheap and nasty. Restaurant needs a makeover.  Staff nice and friendly.  Hadn't been to Denny for years so I thought I would give it a go but wont be going back again!.

We went here ANZAC day, it was pretty busy understandable.. but the service was pretty sucky we were seated before other people but we're served after them, our drinks n food took longer to come. When our food did arrive 45mins later, it was cold. So disappointed we left immediately. Didn't pay a cent.

When we arrived we were sat directly under the main a/c vent. It was FREEZING! Food went cold real fast too.<br/><br/>The waitress took forever to take our order.<br/><br/>Photo attached is of my meal that at first came without veges. I ordered apricot chicken and it came with hollandaise sauce (which came from a bottle).<br/><br/>My cousin had soggy garlic bread.<br/><br/>My order came with an option of fries or mashed potato, and veges or a salad. I was never asked what I wanted. I had to call the waitress over to complete my order. I was given a salad on a hot plate. I asked for veges.<br/><br/>There was a scale in a child's fish.<br/><br/>My vegetables came out with a "cheese sauce" which wasn't cheese at all and was extremely watery. The veges were cold and soggy.<br/><br/>For dessert: my cousin and I ordered a snowball (deep fried ice cream) each. Hers wasn't cooked and so we sent it back. The manager said they don't cook the snowballs, they only reheat them. He took it away and said he'd bring another one out but never did. When we went to pay the manager didn't make us pay for it though, which is a good thing.<br/><br/>My Aunty ordered a macaron that should have come with warm caramel sauce. It was cold.<br/><br/>The duty manager had sweat pouring down his face. Not a good look when you're handling food.<br/><br/>DO NOT RECOMMEND!

We had always come here. But after going to other restaurants and cafes, dennys food is really bland. But i still love the chocloate fudge cake lol

I use to love dennys I ended up getting sick of it cos I had tried everything that caught my eye on the menu. There food is always yum though. All though there food is yum I think they need to re-vamp there menu like new side salads, new dishes that are presented a little bit better, new deserts just a change even in decor maybe? Idn. But they must be doing something right if they are always packed with customerd. All in all Dennys is a good place for a casual get together with friends or family. Another + is that they are open 24/7 and we dont have many dine in 24/7 places.

<br/>Hair on my plate and over cooked food what a major let down will not be eating here again this is unacceptable health and saftey practise and after complaining about the food i saw no point telling them about the hair as they dont take kindly to critisizium.

This was my first time eating at Denny's Manukau. I knew that Denny's always had big portions so I knew that my food won't be insufficient. We waited for about 20 minutes which was a really long time. The food totally made up for it! You know that feeling you get when you're in a restaurant and you see your food coming and you just feel so happy? That was exactly my feeling. I wanted to order something I've never ordered before (sort of) so I knew that I wanted to order something really upgraded and something new. (Which also included chicken - my favorite!) I chose to order the sizzling chicken w/sizzling sauce(?) fries, capsicum and onions (it was so hot that the oil kept spatting on my face!) For $21 I expected it to be amazing. It was the bomb! I loved hearing it sizzle so loud when I finally saw it being held by the waitress! I also loved seeing the aromatic smoke coming out of the sizzling plate that headed towards me. (To the point that everyone turned their heads around to see who it was for.) I give it a 4.5/5 or 5/5 because every part of it was amazing, although the only down side was that it was so hot that it almost burnt my tongue. The lesson is that when ordering sizzling food always wait at least 5 minutes before eating because it's still insanely hot once served! It kinda strained me for a while so I waited a few minutes for it to cool down. I thought that the overall meal was a reasonable size, just make sure you don't put it close to your face! It smelt really nice and had this sizzling sauce to go with it - this I really loved! The onions and capsicum were perfectly caramelized ( still also sizzling hot!) plus the fries were tasty and not blant at all (it had some unknown savoury flavour to it), it all went quite nice with the chicken. The chicken was perfectly cooked that I could easily slice through it. I was so excited to try it! I'm glad it exceeded my expectations. The presentation, quality, and taste would be 5/5 the only small criticism I have is when it's way too hot so the waitresses/waiters should let the customers know beforehand so they can wait for it to simmer down. The setup was nice, the place was clean, not a noisy place and had fairly good staff. I advise the staff to smile a lot more, they serve really well but some don't look fairly happy working there! Anyway I also ordered a banana and berry smoothie which was so delicious! Most people I know are aware that I hate banana, but this smoothie really didn't make the banana taste like it was overpowering or disgusting/mushy. The banana tasted amazing with the berries, sugar and milk! I'd love to try this smoothie again - 5/5 ($6). It wasn't too sweet either. I also tried the tropical smoothie - 3.5/5 ($6) because I didn't really taste the tropical in there.<br/><br/>We also ordered a premium burger which had 3 patties and an egg in the burger - although a bit greasy with curly fries. (3/5 - $16.50) A club sandwhich which was really loved! (3.5/5 for me - but 4/5 for sandwhich lovers -$15) Pork roast with roast veggies and sauce. - served with cold hot chocolate. (3/5 - pork roast was not that great - didn't have much flavours. Apparently the hot chocolate was cold? -$21 + $6?) And beef lasagne which I give a 4/5 ($19 - price is too high) mainly because it had lots of flavours in there and the textures were great. The prices I listed were rough estimates/from memory but as far as I remember we paid $100 + for the bill. The food for me overall was great, I strongly recommend to lower the prices because they are too expensive. Add more flavours to some dishes, add more healthier dishes to your menu, use better and healthier alternatives to some of your dishes and always serve it like you're proud of your work. I also recommend asking the customers for feedback/survey of their experience to see what can be improved. Some customers might prefer no tv playing but instead they might prefer to listen to relaxing music playing in the background so they don't feel disturbed during their eating experience. Other than that definitely would come back for the food! Well done.

food is amazing there!! I always order the chicken salad and its always seasoned well. service is great and everyone is so friendly, its great for a family lunch or even for couples who enjoy desserts.

The food here is okay but not all that though. It's average but still good. Service I can is excellent and had no problems.

Decor of place is dated but food has always been great, sometimes wait is too long but food definitely makes up for it favourite and must try buffalo wings

Went to Denny's tonight (16th August 2014) for the 2nd time ever and again, were impressed.  2 adults, 2 kids. Took about 5 mins to get seated which was fine as others waiting in front of us. Waiter arrived after 5mins to take our order, we weren't ready so she came back again in 5 mins.  Ordered the kids food then said we weren't ready for ours. Wasn't a problem and they came back 5 mins after that.  A fork got dropped, they gave us a new one without even asking. The kids food (ham and toastie sandwich on wholegrain bread w/ curly fries for 5yr old, Junior Grand Slam for 4yr old) came out in less than 10mins and was at perfect eating temperature for them....both thoroughly enjoyed it. Our food took about another 10mins after that and again was delicious. Hubby had SurfnTurf w/ chips and veges plus a side serve of wedges. I had the Club Sandwich meal. Drinks came within 5 mins of ordering them. As did the kids sundae's. Love that tom. sauce is automatically brought to the table and you get a large jug of water instead of those skinny bottles which barely do 2 large glasses. All staff were polite and smiling. Bill came to $78. My only complaints are that giving kids activity sheets at the start would be good and with the $4 add a sundae and drink to the kids meals, non-soft drink options should be allowed [small juice or milk]

Staff need to learn a thing or two about customer service.<br/><br/>Having been to Denny's Manukau multiple times, and the majority of the time myself and friends have found the staff to be rude, arrogant and they appear as if they hate their jobs. <br/><br/>The cooks do not understand how to cook a well cook steak when asked for 'well cooked', instead we've been given a 'medium-rare' or 'rare' when asked for 'medium'! When we ask the staff to please fry it a little more, they appear as if it's such a 'chore'. When they do bring it back, it's evident that they've just put it in the microwave as the whole plate is warm.<br/><br/>The only good thing about this place is the dessert, however this place is not worth the money considering the prices and the service you pay for. <br/><br/>A disgrace to the Denny's brand.

I ordered lasagna, chicken curry and a kiddie burgers. Lasagna and burgers were not bad but the curry was just chicken pieces in curry water. Not going there again. The curry came in very dry and had to be returned and when it came back it was just chicken pieces in curry water. The place was full an i wondered why and that's why i tried them. One of the Indian staff was good enough to suggest returning the curry because it was not good enough.

Hello - do not waste your time going to Denny's. It is Waitangi Day and when (two of us) we were seated the person with me had already eaten and so I was dining there for a quick breakfast and coffee. There was to be a $2 surcharge which I understood but the person with me (even though they were not eating or drinking coffee) was going to be charged a $2 surcharge. The mind 'boggled' at first as to why should a person pay a $2 surcharge when they were not being charged in the first place. Although I do not agree with surcharges I knew I would be expected to pay. We left without ordering.<br/><br/>Not a good idea to eat at Dennys in Wairau Road at all!!!!!

Had dinner here last night with a deal voucher. We were seated immediately upon arrival. Our order of 4 appetisers arrived within 10-15 min, and our mains came shortly after. The food was pretty good! Our table was completely covered in dishes which earned quite a few looks as we were right next to the entrance, ha! We were SO stuffed afterwards. No complaints here, we'd definitely come back again.

0 (zero) stars!!!!<br/>My friends recommended Denny's for their Buffalo wings and I stopped by for it one night. Well here it is, all starts the waitress passed me the menu and took me to the table on which even I couldn't fit. But I still managed to squeeze in for some time I placed my order for apple juice, wings and a side of curly fries. Now the waitress brought my juice to the table and I asked her if I can switch my table since I was uncomfortable and she agreed but rather then placing the drinks on the table I was moving to she left it on the table from where I was getting off and guess what ??? The drink spilt on the table and she had no courtesy to change my drink or refill or even to apologise. Second terrible part ..my friends said the wings were very juicy and famous, well now my meal was brought to the table and trust me the wings were so hard like rubber and I could taste the oil from the deep fryer it was only fool of shit!!! I tried few and I did not want to it any more and then I was waiting for someone to come and ask how my meal was or I need to order for anything else but no one came around I set there for half and hour and then a waitress who was collecting empty plates had to be asked for a takeaway box ... not recommending or going back there ever again ..Pathetic this place rather should close down...honestly it was a rip off for me didn't get what I expected..no way no more Denny's it would have been much better if i would have grabbed a bk meal. Shame on Dennys.<br/>Visited on 2nd Nov 2012

Absolutely awful. We went there with 5 children, and waited over an hour for basic burgers and chips...while other adults were served who had arrived after we did. We kept asking our waitress but had to go in search of a manager before anything was done. The food was cold and hard, and it was so late by the time we left the children were falling asleep at the table. We couldn't wait any longer for the sundaes that were included in the meals, and were still charged for them! The manager was clearly not interested at all, and even added another dessert that we hadn't ordered nor received, onto our bill - it took quite some insisting to get this taken off. Don't bother complaining either - we emailed the Head Office and haven't had anything done...I know it's only basic food but surely they could get something right. Ruined our night out, won't be going back again ever!

My visit to Manukau was the second time my partner and I had visited Denny's together, and the food was most delicious. However, I would describe our waitress as distracted and indifferent. There were four tables, maximum, and at least two floor staff, so it shouldn't have been difficult for her to pay us a little more attention. However, I've definitely encountered worse (see my review on Denny's North Shore), and so would visit Denny's Manukau again.

Terrible place! Terrible terrible terrible! Rude staff! They must be doing exceptionally great to turn down a booking for 20 one month in advance! It is fine though as we can found a venue willing to take that amount of cash in from one sitting with much better food and much better staff attitudes!

It's o.k not all that... Went there for dinner one time waited for 45Min's went up to ask were our dinner was, the waitress who took our order forgot to pop the docket up and took of home instead, wanted to leave but nothing else would have been open at that time... It is pretty expensive for a place like that...

Food totally different from the pictures on the menu. Some of our food came out cold. Don't know why we were isolated away from the rest of the restaurant that day. The staff that looked after us, got fed up with us, being a big group with heaps of different wants. Not seeing me/us there again =(

Pretty yum food although service is soooo slow. I rang the bell about 5 times before someone came. They also took away the satay roll which was my favourite. Its not really a resturant but more of a diner so you cant expect much but for the most part, its reasonably priced. The curly fries are a winner

I really liked Dennys 10years ago.. finally dined there after so many years with my now ex-friends who wouldnt shut up about their Buffalo wings and Surf n turf.. I swear I was disappointed but kept a smile for these fans. Ordered a medium-rare sirloin, came to me cold, dry as heck, and tasteless.. had to drown it in tomato sauce. Buffalo wings were nice and hot, and the nachos too. Couldnt see why my steak was cold? Decent portion of fries, warm-cold! If it wasnt for the friendly waitress who made us laugh and apologised for the wait etc, I wouldve given 1 star. The place needs a make over.

Omg I have not been to Dennys Manukau for nearly 3 years and I wont ever be going back. The food was dry cold and just over all horrible. We go to the local bar down the road from our house and pay the same prices for much better quality meals and service. The standards have dropped some since I last visited and the poor staff there that have to wear uniforms to small for them just looks disgraceful its no wonder they don't smile while taking orders. Mcds staff are better dressed than Dennys! People look around before wasting good money there!

A friend and I went to Denny's on Thursday 23 February 2012 for lunch. [12.01pm]<br/><br/>This was our first time at a Denny's restaurant.<br/><br/>It was a good experience, staff were pleasant, meals were great, service was excellent and the prices were excellent.<br/><br/>Our order was as follows for two people:<br/>STARTER:<br/>1x Chilli Fries (4 STARS)<br/>2x Chocolate Milkshake (5 STARS)<br/><br/>MAIN:<br/>2x Double Burger (4 STARS)<br/>2x Curly Fries (4 STARS)<br/>2x Glass of Water (5 STARS)<br/><br/>EXTRA:<br/>1x Orange Juice (5 STARS)<br/>2x Glass of Water (5 STARS)<br/><br/>DESSERT:<br/>none - we thought we would wait till we had eaten before deciding<br/><br/>From the start to the finish the Denny's experience was very good. There was a slight delay as we entered the door and waited to be seated but once we were shown to our table the service was excellent.<br/><br/>The waitress was a very friendly young lady and the manager was also very helpful when the waitress was obviously busy.<br/><br/>Wait times at the table were well balanced.<br/>The milkshakes came first then shortly after the chilli fries.<br/>Once these were finished we asked for some water and a glass of orange juice which arrived within minutes.<br/>A few minutes grace was given before our burgers and curly fries arrived. <br/>More water was delivered once we had finished the first.<br/>We decided not to get any dessert as we were sooo full which was a shame cause we did want to try some.<br/><br/>Overall the meals were very good and a fairly good size, I was unable to finish my burger after having eaten the chilli fries.<br/><br/>Great place to visit.

We went there on xmas eve,have been there a few times but never again....My turkey dinner with mash potato &amp; salad. one slice of turkey,potato was mashed with too much water!!the glass bowl of salad was half full of water,at least they could have drained the water so my salad would not be soggy. the lamb dinner didnt fair much better with raw veges,chewy meat that was after the first plate was wrong due to an order mix up( waitress just took the plate away with no explaination )!!!!, and it was all COLD.dessert was some sort of chocolate,i didnt eat ,I could smell the cocoa in it .....Way too much cocoa. not nice at all, I am taking the matter further !!!!!!!!.....Go To Gengys down the road.far better deal

Came here for the 1st time 1 week ago.<br/><br/>I like that the prices vary &amp; most dishes are affordable, my meal wasn't outstanding but it was ok.<br/>Everyone else enjoyed their Meals more, decent size.<br/>I had the Potato &amp; egg thing, a Banana split &amp; a Chocolate milkshake.<br/>The Potato thing was just ok. Nice to try but wouldn't order it again.<br/>The Banana Split was bland, the Milkshake was yummy!<br/>The others enjoyed their Meals.<br/>They said the Buffalo Wings, Eggs Bene, &amp; the Hot Fudge Cake (Which was huge by the way!!) tasted great. That's all I know that tasted good as the others didn't say much about their Meals.<br/>Will come back &amp; try the dishes that were raved about.<br/><br/>The Waitress was slack though could be more chirpy<br/>

Terrible terrbile terrible!<br/><br/>Have been to this dennys a couple of times now and am unsure why I even kept going after the first time! Everytime I've been the food is average, the waiting time is long and the service is disgustingly bad!<br/><br/>A few of my mates and I went the other night with my 8 month old son. We asked for a high chair as soon as we got to the counter but were seated without one. Had to ask for a high chair 4 times!! I asked our waitress 3 times for a high chair and ended up asking another waitress who wasn't happy to serve us whatsoever but in the end she got me one. The second waitress was verbally rude as well and sarcastic making it super clear that she didn't want to be there.<br/><br/>Ordered our food, took such a long time to arrive. Ordered a jug of water and got 3 glasses full instead ?? Ordered the bangers and mash for my son so he could eat the veges and mash and the peas were rock hard! His food came without cutlery to feed him with and my friend had to ask another 3 times to get extra cutlery so she could pick off our plates (she didn't order her own meal). They ran out of the flavoured pie my friend ordered but still billed us for it.<br/><br/>What upset me the most was the terrible service. Our one waiter didn't apologise for anything she did wrong, she wouldn't let us pay extra for a side of bread and only started to listen to us after we got angry with her. Was a terrible night, am writing a complaint to the manager and would NEVER EVER go there again! Will be advising my friends never to go Manukau dennys either.

Worst night out EVER!!!I'd give this 0 stars but it appears that I can't. We called ahead and asked if we needed to make a reservation for 8 people but they said no we don't have to. So we arrive and they tell us to wait, we waited an hour to be seated. The waitress got our drinks order mixed up (one of the diners with us didn't even get her drink until she reminded them!!)Then the food took over 40 minutes to arrive!! They just passed the plates out without asking who ordered what!!! Many times we had to pass the plate to the right person. They also got two orders wrong, gave the correct food and not a word of apology for the long wait or for the bad service. We ate the food and it was disgusting!! The garlic and herb butter on my chicken had turned the chickens skin a yucky green colour!! VERY DISGUSTING to look at or to eat! The meat was also tough and rubbery like it was made three days ago!!!! So we went to pay and the guy at the counter was soo rude to us! Never going back to this place or ever recommend to anyone. In fact I told two people not to go in because of the bad food and even worse service!

THE WORST POSSIBLE RESTAURANT, the quality of food is less to be desired and the condition of the food at times is inedible, either too dry, or uncooked and at times overcooked (buffalo wingers). The Manager by the name of John, is rude and obnoxious, not providing any amends for their mistakes, and then not obliging my payment with my VIP Card. The service is shocking, not clearing tables, delays in delivery of food, and worst of all the waiter/tress cannot speak or understand English. What are restaurants coming to ... with Denny's its definitely an end. Not worth even one star.

We went to Denny's on Saturday @ 1am'ish.<br/>The chips were cold and like cardboard. The orange juice glass was not filled up to the top. <br/>The French toast, well you couldn't even see the egg. The toast wasn't warm at all! and to top it off 'thinned down maple syrup'. Service sucked! The coffee was good though.

My husband and I had dinner at dennys last wednesday and were using a coupon from their company for a 2for1 dinner deal. Upon paying our bill i handed the waitress my coupon and she said that i couldnt use the coupon as i shouldve told her that I was using the coupon when I was ordering, and that I had to order an appetiser with the coupon in order for me to use the coupon! <br/><br/>I read and reread the coupon and there was no mention anywhere on the coupon that I had to order an appetizer and the coupon specifically stated, just 2for1 for anything from the "dinner" menu. I proceeded to explain this to the lady and she wouldnt accept the coupon and made me pay for the full amount of the meal, stating that I can use it again the next time I come back but to also buy an appetizer on top of the meal to validate the coupon. She downright refused to take the coupon even upon my insisting that there was no mention of a purchase of an appetizer together with this coupon. Alas she insisted that she was right, that although there was no mention of an appetizer on the actual coupon, I still needed to purchase an appetizer WITH the meal stated on the coupon to be able to use it, huhhhh!<br/><br/>After sitting in my car for a while thinking over the events of that morning I was so upset that I went back in to see the manager, and explained to her what had happened, the manager said i couldnt have my money back because Id already paid the cash to the waitress and the deal was closed, and that i shouldve handed the coupon over to the lady before paying the money. I asked the manager to read the coupon for me and to explain to me where on the coupon it stated that I had to purchase an appetizer together with the meal stated on the coupon. The manager said that it was incorrect, that i didnt have to order an appetizer, just the 2for1 meal stated on the coupon with nothing extra. I proceeded to explain what the waitress had told me and by that time the waitress was at our side now, still claiming, that yes, I did have to purchase an appetizer with the meal, right in the face of the manager, some nerve!!!! and the manager said, no, that that was incorrect!! I told her that I should get my money back because I had presented the coupon to the waitress before handing her the money, but she refused to take the coupon claiming that i had to purchase an appetizer with the meal before i could use the coupon.<br/><br/>The poor manager in the end ended up giving me my money back because I wasnt going to go anywhere without it, or else I would be causing a scene right there and then, and they did have quite a moderately full house that morning! I appreciate the kindness and patience of the manager, however the rude waitress who is nothing but money greedy, TYPICAL, could use some lessons on truthfulness!!!!!! <br/><br/>Werent you ever taught there that the ..... CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT!!!!<br/><br/>Despite this little event, I will continue to dine there because the meals are always wonderful, however I wouldnt like to be served by that waitress ever again!!!

Good food, consistent quality, good friendly service... what else could you ask for? We usually go here for breakfast and have never been disappointed. Good job Denny's.

looks like the building and decor hasnt been updated or replaced since 1980, mostly everything is worn and in need of replacement. but without fail they always deliver the same high standard dennys food and are always very fast. Bathrooms are in urgent need of cleaning and refurbishment.

I go to Denny's on a regular basis for a quick catch up with friends or for kids birthdays! I've been at all hours of the day and night and their service has never disappointed me. For what you pay the food, service and cleanliness is just perfect. It's good to get away from all the poncy people and places that are out there. Just right for the average Jo :)

Other than their Oreo Sundaes, food is average to below average (e.g. pre frozen cheesecake), service is unprofessional and cleanliness leaves a lot to be desired. In our experience, management doesn't put things right either! <br/>If you manage to make it in the front door without being sucked into their airconditioning system, (this has to be experienced to be believed), do yourselves a favour and head straight out the door again.

Once I came to the restaurant the food was good buti think i ordered the wrong food.

I had an experience at Denny’s in Manukau.<br/>My family and I went there to celebrate my daughters 7th birthday 06/08/2008<br/>Everything started out okay until the waitress brought over the Oreo Shakes. The drinks spilt on her tray, all over the floor and all over my daughter. She just stood there and instead of taking the tray away, she turned it a little more so that the rest could pour down on my daughters clothes and hair.<br/><br/>The waitress didn’t apologise. Just walked away.<br/>I took my daughter to the bathroom to clean up. Her new clothes were ruined and when we returned we were not removed from the area that had the shakes remains still there (they hadn’t cleaned it up).<br/>The person on duty came over, apologised and thought he could leave it at that!<br/>No offer of dry cleaning or anything until we stressed that it was not acceptable. I informed him how it was her birthday, she was wet, her clothes were ruined and what was he going to do about it? He replied that there wasn’t much he could do.<br/><br/>Is this the kind of service we are supposed to accept?<br/><br/>He offered the drinks that were spilt to be made free of charge.<br/>We are still furious with what happened.

Sunday morning breakfast. Lousy service, lousy food and lousy management when one trys to complain. I resented having to argue about not paying for an extremely sub standard meal, overdone steak IS NOT medium rare no matter how you want to try and make it!!

Food was okay! Unfortunately the cleanliness of the place let it down. our table was dirty. The furniture in the place also needs to be updated. A very small dennys. I think they need to look more at the way the Auckland city Dennys is run. case thats a much better place to dine. i would never dine at the Manukau one again.. Service was slack and we had to wait for ages before someone took our order.

4.30pm had dinner at this awesome place, was our first time there, thanx to our daughter for putting us on to it.<br/>Awesome place to go for a meal, the service was excellent, the waitress was lovely, meal was quick, pudding was Yummmmeee<br/>I would certainly recommend Denny's to anyone &amp; everyone i know <br/>Thanx Denny's.. way to go
