Loved this place! Lively atmosphere, friendly servers, fun decor (especially the wall with all the beers they make), excellent beer, and maybe the best fish and chips I’ve ever eaten! If you are hoping to come on Thursday Quiz Night, make a reservation early.
I didn't get to enjoy any food here but had some great beers with great service, they definitely care about you as a customer here and what they do.

Pete is such a great host. The rest of the team are always friendly too. The whole place has good vibe and very welcoming. Good selection is small but delicious, especially enjoy their fish, pork belly burger and chicken pizza. My every Friday hang out place! Keep up the good work!

A friend of mine had a lemon, lime and bitters, the young girl who made it went over and above. It was the best she's ever had. The attention to detail flows through the whole place. Well done to the new owners.

Everyone is so friendly and service was great. Good beer but why are the pizzas so spicy? Huge chunks of Chilli on the meet lovers and why would you want to spice out a chicken pizza. Nothing about that on the menu descriptions. 2 pizzas we could not enjoy when we got them home. Tasty but too🌶🌶🌶 for us.
Food was great. Ended up eating here twice. Selection of beer was great too. Staff was wonderful.
Peter the publican, invited us in with open arms . DOG friendly must be on a leash in the outside seating front and back of the Hotel . Plenty of seats out the back out of the wind with the sun shining on your back , nice and cosy . It was turned into a Tavern 12yrs ago . It's unbelievable on how it looks inside . 2 outside , 1 upstairs and a large seating available inside . The food was excellent and cooked to perfection , washed down with a cold beer. Like most pubs , hotels and taverns around the South Island they need bums on seats , so go to the Sprig and Fern you will enjoy it.
Well presented grilled fish and salad with chunky chips. Genuinely friendly service. They were busy on a summer Wednesday and we had to wait 50 minutes for the meal but it was okay.
Work catch up on a Friday afternoon. We were given a private space upstairs, the music was the perfect volume, platters were shared evenly amongst our tables and the drink service at the bar was friendly and efficient.
