This is the cleanest buffet resturant that I have ever come across. They remove your plates as soon as your finished. Amazing price and amazing service. They even brought out free oysters to our table when they heard we missed out. Highly recommend!!!!
First time here and really like how clean the place is. I just ran here from bell block and I'm hungry I ate nice food. Fresh and there are some healthy options. Service is normal for a buffet place plates cleared regularly and drinks offered when they walk past.
All and all good place and will eat there again.

Great Quality,decor,music,food, service and facilities. Really enjoyed the variety of food but lacking some good desserts. The music really goes with the theme of the restaurant. New plates and cutlery should be in consideration as some plates and knifes had a lot of scratches.
But other than that, it was exquisite👍🏻
Great place to go for all you can eat at a really cheap price. Lunch is the cheapest and for our family, works out cheaper than going to any of the usual fast food drive through establishments. Dinner is a bit more expensive but way more options. The decor is very dated and the music is just plain crappy but if you want to feed a lot of people with a massive selection of all you can eat food this is the place to go. Recommend to any family on a budget, plenty of healthy options.
Awesome place if you are keen for a feed! Being well priced, the buffet style food is of reasonable quality with a small but solid selection of favorites. Although the place has a trying decor this is offset by the lovely concerning staff and is a must for the shrewd cost effective family diner. Also me and the family didn't get hassled about having a drink or not......
My family and I have frequented sun world quite a few times over the years as we love their variety of food, lovely staff (although some of younger staff could do with lessons in smiling and quick service), We are heading there again tonight for my daughters birthday dinner
Love it! Lots to choose from, very affordable, friendly staff, recommend it to anyone. Prompt on seating, great for family dining big or small. We dine here when we visit home. Well done Sun World!!
Sarah...Shame on you for writing such a terrible review for such a great place. If Sun World is so 'greasy'...why is it so packed out most days and nights? Answer: Because it's incredibly good value...and the food is fresh....and there is a huge variety. If you want 'style and sophistication' this is NOT the place for you...but this is an unpretentious restaurant and you will not get better value elsewhere. Sarah ...what do you expect for under $20 ????( that's for soup/ entrees/ mains and desert !!!) If you want 'upmarket'....then PAY for it ! Everyone goes to Sun World.....Nanas/ families...TEAMS.....people even have business meetings there ! And no...I have absolutely NO connection with this restaurant.... apart from my family being frequent diners there. ....I'm in business ...but I'm definitely NOT in the food trade !! I DO admire hard grafting restaurant owners though.....especially these lovely people who do a great job.
Lovely friendly management staff younger staff not so helpful in clearing the tables very fast apart from that lovely food great selection of foods to choose from at a very reasonable price.
We have eaten here on many occasions in the past. The food is buffet, very good, a great range to choose from, chinese, salads, hot food, seafood, soups and desserts. The prices are excellent and very affordable to most people, a good place for the family to go or for an occassion. The staff are very nice and the owners always happy to please and help with anything. I also found the place to be very clean and spotless.

Oyster is very large and fresh, they also have tabasco sauce to go with, limit 6 per adult. steam prawn is also very fresh, limit 12 per adult. Mussels has topped with capers. Cripspy pork was bery cripsy and my daughter loves noodle. Tiramisu dessert was so good for me. Kids loved ice cream station.
The food was great and the service was brilliant .

Amazing! Worth every one of the 5 stars. Food was attractive, tasty, well labelled & tasty. Incredible range of hot, cold, seafood & desert. Waiters/waitresses constantly circling discreetly to take empty plates or to take any orders. First visit & i sincerely wish we didnt live 3 hours away or i would be back frequently. Best smorgasbord i have eaten at. Tops Valentines by a mile & i used to think they were the epitome.
Really enjoyed this buffet. Really fresh food with variety, even had kimchi. Really friendly staff and amazing value for money. We live in Dunedin but if we had this in our city we would be frequent diners.
Best Buffet I have ever tried, it is valuable and yummy for almost everyone. Very friendly and diligent staff, lovely atmosphere. If you travel to New Plymouth, must try this restaurant where can relax you and enjoy a big feast!
Honestly amazing. Staff were so lovely and it was well worth the money. Has heaps of childhood favourites to choose from.
Definitely a good value. The food is not exceptional, but for the lunch price it’s certainly not disappointing. Full selection of fried foods, some soups, and a cold food bar with some salads, seafood and sushi. Desert bar with sweets and ice cream. A great place if you are hungry and not looking for anything memorable. The staff were really kind and it was really quiet when we visited (1pm).
Really have nothing to complain. This price you can't get a bowl of salad in an average Auckland restaurant. The Crispy Roasted Pork Belly, is absolutely devine! I'm not sure many Auckland restaurants could beat it here. The selection of desert is amazing. They even have Creme Brulee. I thought only Cordis have such things. Well, it would be better if they put a chocolate fountain in the centre but hey, less than 30 bucks! Very friendly staff here. Definitely for visitors and locals.
Overall what I’d expect as an American going to a buffet- although there were a few alternative dishes like cauliflower instead of mashed potatoes, for example. Oysters, prawns and shrimp on the buffet were decent; the beef plus the chicken with broccoli were good.
One of the few places to get Chinese food in New Plymouth. We had a buffet of OK quality, reasonable variety ( surprisingly no roast meats or veges).
The pictures don't really reflect the food - it was just dumped on a plate rather than beautifully placed.
