Delicious curries packed with meat and fresh veges, reasonably priced. Personal fave is the Mattar Paneer but everything we've had has been great. Best Indian on the Coast.
Our takeaway order of vegetable curry and chicken Jalfrezi was very good, with a generous amount of chicken and vegetables in tasty sauces. Service is always excellent as well. Well done Mumbai chef.
We have had takeaway meals twice, both times the food has been superb, very generous with meat and vegetable ingredients, the sauces tasty and all very different with the spice and chilli blend perfect, med was med to my palette! Nice little touch to be given a popadom taster.
Best Indian on the coast for my money . Very generous portions and huge naan breads . The $12 lunch combo is a winner for sure !. I was told by a Indian man about this place who also told me it’s the best Indian around so that is saying something!.
A friend and I gave this place a try after hearing good things, and we weren’t disappointed. The malai kofta was delicious and not too sweet, and the saag goat curry I had was easily the best goat curry I’ve ever eaten. Fresh and beautifully spiced. I can eat a lot, and the serve was ample, I couldn’t have eaten anymore. Very reasonably priced too. Highly recommended.
Great to have another Indian option in Orewa, ordered Chicken Tikka Masala (med) thought this had a good flavour and level of spice to it. A great amount of chicken, capsicum etc. I felt the naan bread could have been a bit lighter and fluffier, it seemed a little tough.
The staff are always so so friendly and remember their regulars! The food is absolutely delicious and the restaurant always comes up in conversation when people want recommendations for good Indian. Great prices too.
Amazing food, lamb in the Saag was very tender and flavourful, kadai paneer was also super good. Plus they had gluten free naan! I think made with chickpea flour? I've never seen gluten free naan anywhere. Delicious. Lovely service. Thank you 😀
Ordered takeaways and the flavours were amazing. All of the dishes we received were amazing with generous amount of meat. Will definitely be back :)

Hi everyone, highly recommend lunch special (11.00-2.00 any day including wkends) at Mumbai Chef in Orewa. Fantastic choice of yummy curries and naan bread for 12 bucks! Wonderful service & friendly owner with his wife.

Fantastic food, best Indian I’ve ever tasted & the Naan was crispy and so tasty. Cooked in a tandoori oven so a very genuine Indian meal.
Cute place. Got the lunch combo (curry, rice, naan, and drink) for $16. Extremely good and delicious food for the price. Staff were friendly and helpful. The lady in the kitchen was making the naan bread from scratch fresh which was really refreshing to see. Will certainly be back!
