Pretty tasty meal! Gave me a free cocktail and desert on my birthday. Just a shame orders took a while and some were wrong but other than that good experience
The usual great food from the Lone Star group, although this time an hour wait until it arrived, Dixie chicken is a fab! The cocktails are good too! Easy to get to from Fitzherbert street if staying in Palmerston North for a visit.
We went there recently to celebrate my daughters birthday. The service was very friendly and efficient. The meals were awesome. My steak was cooked to perfection. Three at our table had dietary requirements, which were catered for without any hassle.
We were able to bring a cake & they provided plates & spoons. My daughter got a mini complimentary mini pav dessert & a free drink because it was her birthday too.

Partner and I went here on a Friday night for his birthday. atmosphere was good and was seated promptly. The server was super efficient if not a little bit too efficient had barely been seated before we were asked what we wanted to order. food came out quickly. we ordered muscles for a starter, chicken salad and lasso of hog for mains they were huge and definitely filling. for dessert we ordered the creme brulee, jack Daniels chocolate cake and a waitress brought out a free dessert for my partners birthday which were meringues all in all a good time and nothing to complain about
Is there a better Lone Star in the North Island at the moment? Food quality is excellent. Delicious. Plentiful. Fresh. Petone has a good one. Always seems like a destination. I love the one on the waterfront in Gisborne. Great people in Gizzy. But the food is just right in Palmy at the moment. Service is good. Fast polite spot on. Great ambience and there's that familiarity of the mezzanine floor feeling like its about to collapse every time the front door slams closed. Two thumbs up. Well done.
They had the Pork Line special which was pork belly with mashed potatoes greens and jus. We planned for steak but this was a must. Was Devine, absolutely delicious we both also had the Cobb loaf nice fresh and hot. Highly recommended. Great service great staff and great food!
Highly recommended "Garlic bread", "Dixie Chicken" and "Johnny Cash Stash" they're so good. Staff are very friendly. But if you're so so hungry i think you could make an order before you come in otherwise if they're very busy you have to wait for a while LOL but I don't mind to wait if the food are great!
Overall, Lone Star is my fav place to visit on my special day all the time 😊👍🏼

Went there for the second time with family after a long and tiring day. It was a busy night but we were attended to immediately. Sam was our waitress and she was excellent. Food came quickly. Quantity of food was enormous. I had the pork ribs. My mom loves the prawn star dish which comes with rice and we had the chicken nibbles with lonestar loaf as starters . Overall enjoyed eating there. Will definitely come back.
wow amazing service from the welcome till the very end. the chicken was great not overcooked like most places, the corn chips and dip were also great,the lovely young lady who waited our table made the whole experience very very enjoyable ....we will be back. recommend to all.
We just happened to stop in to lone star and get a seating by chance and ordered a lasso of hog and a 250g sirloin steak it was bloody amazing and the service was truly outstanding. There was a desert chef always ready to help wonderfully polite and the sales people There were two ...I think one was called Tom.b truly amazing service....this place i attend to brag about because they are a place my husband and I will take our family back to in future just because they have outstanding service and food.

Food was good, cooked well, portions seem smaller from a year ago, when I last ate at the Lone Star and like everything else, prices have gone up, service was super fast, almost had a bottle of beer all over me, when the waitress brought my husband's beer to him! Fortunately, it landed on the floor and up the wall! All in all, it was a pleasant evening and quite entertaining. Would definitely go again.
We had our Christmas Function at Lone Star last Saturday and the food and service was exceptional. The staff couldn't have been more helpful, kept checking we were all fine for drinks and if we needed anything. We had a party of about 20, everyone commented on how tasty the food was and so well presented and all went home very happy with the whole night. I would certainly recommend Lone Star for great night out.
Bailee listened to our needs with wanting no sugar around the top, first time having a cocktail. We came in as we wanted to be served by bailee, however she was chucked on the bar at short notice due to another staff member leaving their shift. Bailee did not sit down, she was cleaning, keeping her area tidy, making drinks on a busy Friday evening and communicating with peers in a friendly matter, as someone who used to work hospo much older than bailee I am beyond proud to see her worth ethic, communication skills and attention to detail. It's absolutely wonderful to walk into a restaurant and be greeted the way we were. The reviews of you bailee say it all. Keep it up.
I had the absolute pleasure of dining at Lone Star for lunch today with my family, and it was truly a memorable experience. First and foremost, the food was beyond outstanding. The Gerhard Burger was the highlight of the meal — genuinely the best burger I've tasted in years. Juicy, flavorful, and crafted to perfection!
But what truly enhanced the meal was the stellar service. Ethan (I think was his name), our waiter, added the cherry on top with his friendly demeanor and attentive service. It felt like dining amongst friends, with Ethan ensuring that our experience was nothing short of perfection.
I'll definitely be returning, and I'd recommend anyone in the vicinity to pop in for a bite — and make sure to try that Gerhard Burger!
Had a really pleasant evening here last week. Ethan served our desserts and was quite funny. Very good service, and the food was up to a great standard.

Exceptional service and food. Everything came out on time and all staff were accommodating to our toddler, she was even given a free shirt to match the staff. Food was delicious and we were left very satisfied, in Palmy for a holiday but was so impressed by the hospitality we received from everyone.
My Family and I were complicated with dietary requirements and Danielle our waitress was very accommodating and careful with our food. She was so lovely and polite. Our only complaint was the few things that weren't available but we understand she couldn't help that. Would reccomend, was a great experience.
We came to a dinner with friends and family and were blown away with the young lady at the door believe her name was Bailey , she was super professional and inviting we had such a great night the servers were lovely , little wait on food but service made up for it! Thank you to Bailey especially for checking in on us casually even when being super busy could hear her laugh from miles away and customers loved her ! great atmosphere well done lonestar we will be back
