I drink black coffee only and their espresso is one of if not the best I’ve ever tried! Haven’t eaten there yet but I bet it’s great. Really nice atmosphere, little but cozy Will be regular from now on

Good counter food, yummy pizza and great carrot cake on Saturdays. The coffee is very nice too, but can be inconsistent sometimes depending on who's making it. Great community cafe and always nice sitting outside on a sunny day.

Title: Exceptional Culinary Experience at The Big Salami! Rating: ★★★★★ (5/5) My adventure with The Big Salami in Plimmerton, Porirua, was an epicurean delight that surpassed my expectations. This charming gem transforms ordinary meals into extraordinary delicacies, offering an impressive gastronomic journey right in the heart of New Zealand. Right off the bat, the friendly, professional staff welcomed us into a warm and comfortable setting. Simultaneously weaving a warm, close-knit atmosphere and maintaining a sophisticated charm, The Big Salami is a triumph in balancing quality with affordability. You might find that its inviting ambience and excellent, quick service mark just the beginning of your wonderful experience. The menu spans a plethora of delicacies, catering to a wide and diverse palette. The star of the show was the restaurant's namesake sandwich – the Big Salami. The fresh, locally-sourced ingredients, combined with a well-curated selection of bread, cheeses, and special sauces, took the humble salami sandwich to unprecedented heights. The flavours were robust and yet delicate, demonstrating the chef's mastery in pleasuring our senses in every bite. We also recommend their fine selection of wines, painstakingly chosen to complement the food, further enhancing the dining experience. And did I mention the desserts? The sweet treats at the end were not just visually pleasing but presented a harmonious chorus of sweetness and texture that was nothing short of delightful! To top it all off, the hygiene standards were exemplary, showing their commitment to customer welfare in the times of a global pandemic. In conclusion, The Big Salami is a heart-winning, must-visit eatery that lends an unforgettable touch to the vibrant Plimmerton, Porirua's dining scene. Whether you're a denizen or just passing through, do treat yourself to a bite, remarkable service, and culinary wonders that this wonderful establishment offers. You won't be disappointed!

My morning local. Love the village vibe. They do a great cuppa joe (Americano) and almond croissant. What else could a city kid ask for… … Chicken satay Pizza is what! They nailed that one. Cheers to the crew there that make it happen 😎

Love this place. Always so friendly and welcoming. If you are a visitor, not on the beach but near it. Just few hundred metres walk. Coffee fantastic and bacon butty (sandwich) toasted is delicious. You can't go without tasting the soft cheese scones, toasted with butter. 😋

Called in for a coffee. Worth travelling the extra distance down the street for a quieter spot. Large windows to see the world go by. Staff member at the till was a bit glum. Latte was good, served quickly with sugar and sweetener on the table to help yourself but the ginger crunch slice came with crumbs on the icing from another cake. Newspapers to read and a water cooler easily accessible. Bar stools to perch on while waitng for takeaways. Historical photo of the beach on the wall which interested me. House on the opposite side of the street decorated for Christmas worth checking too.

A great cafe in the heart of Plimmerton, with a cool atmosphere and exceptional customer service. The staff are always so lovely and the baristas make delicious coffee (love that they offer lots of alternative milks). Would definitely recommend, especially after a nice walk on the beach!
