Should You Go Here

Yes, go here. There are a million great eateries in Q’town, many are great like this one…and like them, this one has certain charms. Food is amazing, hearty, comforting and reasonably priced. Drink menu is wonderful and to be able to get steins is a great treat with some brilliant beer “cocktails” available. Family friendly, great food, great booze.

Our local relatives suggested this place, so we went for a late lunch (2:30pm) and I was very happy with what I ordered... the crackling pork belly. It was delicious, crisp, juicy, a generous portion and the flavors were just right with the sweetness of the compote, creamy mash and tangy cabbage. The beers were also delicious as was the salad I shared with my husband. Perfectly dressed and seasoned. But unfortunately some of the rest of the party weren't as excited with the jager schnitzel that they ordered, and they all had order envy. The feedback I got was that it was that it was too thin, bland, not enough sauce and just underwhelming. We also tried the spaetzle and the kasespatzle (mac n cheese) and those were good too. But the kasespatzle was listed as a main dish under "feast" section for $26 and was a bit odd because that's literally all it was in a bowl - more like a sharing side dish to me. I would maybe add a salad or veggies on the side for that price. But you can't go wrong with the crispy pork belly! My relatives also mentioned that the giant platter was super good the last time they dined there, just very rich and fatty so definitely share that one with 3+ people and add some salads on the side. The service was friendly and we loved the atmosphere.

We went on Monday night with some of the group having the all you can eat Sausage special which they enjoyed. I ordered the pork schnitzel which was nice, but the cucumber and potatoes salad was a bit disappointing. We got there before 6 and was able to get happy hour drinks with $8 cocktails which was really good value. Overall good atmosphere and service, and food was ok.

This place does what it says on the tin: schnitzel’s the size of your head and litre steins of beer. What’s not to like?

Awesome experience! Food was amazing and great value for money, and they have weekly specials at the moment. Love the atmosphere and the staff are really friendly and helpful. Highly recommend Queenstown Bavarian.

Located just below the Skyline gondola station, this is a very spacious and beautiful restaurant. Today was rainy, but on a nice day, the views would be spectacular. It was pretty quiet when we came in around 3:00, but it started getting busier by the time we left. We ordered two pints of Panhead Rat Rot Hazy IPA (great beer, unfortunate name) and settled into a booth. It was Wings Tuesday ($1 per wing/minimum of 10) so we split an order of these and The Best Wurstplatter, which has kielbasa, frankfurter, and cheese kransky, served with mashed potatoes, sauerkraut, gravy, and a bit of mustard. Both plates were quite good. If wings are a weekly special, I’d suggest they bring wet wipes and a bowl of warm water for finger washing, as nothing was provided until I requested it. (I dampened a blue-checked paper napkin to wipe my fingers and mouth and got blue dye all over myself!) We finished the meal with an apple strudel, the only part of the meal that was disappointing. The menu said it came with ice cream, but the serving of it was scooped with a melon baller, resulting in the tiniest amount of ice cream I’ve ever been served and frankly, not enough to balance this pastry. The strudel was light on apples and heavy on currants, affecting the texture, so all-in-all, dessert was less than expected and a letdown after what had been a good meal.

We were here around Christmas/new year so I am a bit late posting this review. The night we dined was Xmas Eve and it was very quiet. This place is big and it felt a little strange when not so many people around. We were both a bit unsure about whether we would like it here but we were pleasantly surprised. We ordered the Bavarian Schmankerl which came with a selection of delights such as sausages and pork belly - it was delicious! To accompany that we got chicken wings with hot buffalo sauce which were very tasty. We washed it all down with some German pilsners. We will definitely be back next time we are in Queenstown.

Great place for big groups! Massive booths plenty of space with a modern mountain décor. There are so many beers on a tap and a vast menu. The food wasn’t great. We ordered pretzels, soup and the potatoe wedges. It all tasted like it was frozen and reheated besides that great spot.

We found it difficult to find a place for lunch on Wednesday, as many restaurants are closed on Wednesday in Queenstown. And then we remembered that on our way to the Gondola we saw The Bavarian open. The place was very quiet at the time we walked in. The service was quick. We took salads with additions. I took chicken schnitzel and my friend took naked pork schnitzel. The food was delicious, cooked to the perfection, while the prices were quite affordable. A glass of pinot was a great addition. I would definitely recommend this establishment. Will visit The Bavarian Queenstown next time for sure.

Went there for dinner and found the restaurant fairly quiet which I would put down to all the roadworks in the area and lack of parking. The restaurant itself is large, modern and clean. The staff friendly, polite and very obliging and efficient. We had the pork knuckle meal which was too big for both of us, but delicious and well presented. Will definitely become busier once roadworks have finished. Strongly recommend.
