Review Gangnam Style Korean Bbq Buffet - Takapuna

Liam Morrison
Fantastic restaurant. We always come here. Don’t know why there are negative reviews - heaps of food to choose from, very clean and tastes fantastic! Honestly $35 per person for all you can eat is very fair in this day and age. Best BBQ in Auckland!

I really liked dessert. I wasn't know name's that but I couldn't eat it. It was scrumptious. 👍

Although the food variety is not many, the food quality is good. I like beef, and pork belly. Seafood and cooked food also delicious. The price is NZD35 for an adult in June/2023

You’ve gotta time it right to get fresh food. Don’t go too close to closing time as they will stop bringing out food. The buffet is simple with a few great staples. Great meat selection. There is ice cream too. They could step up the sauce game. And lettuce. More lettuce! And maybe mushrooms. One of my favorite little KoreanBBQs in Auckland.

This is mine and my partners all time favourite buffet. We love the chicken nibbles here and the variety of meats, seafood, sides. We also love the price $25pp . Cheaper for kids , We often come here whenever we get the chance and we always leave satisfied, happy and full, thats a gurantee. I recommend you book in advance otherwise you risk waiting a half an hour upto a hour because it can get busy. They do have areas for small and large groups. It does get very busy and it is a small place but we enjoy coming here. Yes i would recommend trying it but i know it wont be for everyone , I will highly likely be coming back . Staff are good to deal with aswell we have had no problems

The workers are so lovely! The foods great and prices is good. Uou get a selection of cooked meals and also raw food that you cook yourself. Loved the curry and fried chicken. Good little restruant and great for family/friend get togethers

Good quality fresh meat and a very good grill. The rest of the menu was hit or miss, but nothing too bad. The deserts had plenty of variety and was constantly restocked. I had gotten the last cake they had and ate it, and after 5 minutes the plate had already been full! Also, the strawberry sauce they had for the ice cream is absolutely impeccable. The experience is not the same without it.

Second time to eat here and I just love the unlimited bulgogi and spicy chicken and kimchi.. Two hours of bbq is good enough, and great service! Booking is required!

$28 per person all-you-can-eat buffet. Foods are quite fresh and there are more variety of options (meat and veges) than most other Korean bbq buffet at this price range. Due to COVID-19, it is better to book in advance to avoid disappointment. Basic hygiene protocol applies, including using a disposable gloves (provided) and a mask when picking your foods from buffet trays.

One of the nicest Korean bbq in Auckland. They have a wide range of meat and marinate plus alot of vegetables. We arrived on a Monday night and it’s still very busy, so it is recommended that you should book a table first. They only have 15 tables or so, but it is suitable for big group and family. A must try in Takapuna.

Gangnam is my favourite kbbq restaurant in Auckland. I don’t even live in the shore but I still travel there for it. The selection is great and so is the price. If you come after 6 the parking is free too! 25$ for this place is definitely worth it! But make sure you book if you’re coming on a Friday or Saturday night as it’s always packed :)
Miura Elikana
Affordable Korean BBQ, good range of meat and side dishes. Friendly service they regularly change the BBQ plates.

Hi there, I am just wondering if you guys have a variety of vegan options? I don't eat meat, diary products, any kind of animal products, honey etc. And will it be possible to have my own burner and hot plate as I will be dining with family who are all meat eaters. This information would help me very much as I am wanting to try out your food. If you can list items that would be suitable for vegans that will be even more help for me.

Value for money. Affordable and good food. Favourite Korean BBQ on the shore

Heart broken that my fave korean bbq is now closed - we looked around to try somewhere new.

Choices really were limited but I guess we can thank covid for that. We went during the start of level 2 and sides were already on the table when we arrived and only certain items were available to order. Sides were not fresh and also ran out of quite a few of them so couldnt top them up. Super friendly staff though!!! Would try again one day once covid is a thing of the past.... but for now... my hunt continues!

Dined before lockdown with 8 of us. They only allow one cooker between 4 people. If you want additional cookers you have to pay extra.

They have a vast selection of meat and sauces. The food seems fresh but I would have liked to see more sides and vegetables in the buffet.

Dessert was ice cream and some fruit. There is a 2 hour dining time limit but that's plenty of time.

the staff were busy chatting to each other and left the dirty tables around while customers were there eating. it’s obvious that the dirty tables has been left for long as the left over foods dried up already was just such a mess and unclean.

Hey, it’s another Korean Barbecue place in Auckland, yes, we have lots of them and this is the latest place we visited. I guess a year or two ago we saw this place and checked what they had on offer, I was not impressed during that time due to the lack of choices hence we moved on to a different place which was just nearby, moving on today we got invited and things had changed for the better.
Dianne Patricia Eldialde
Bad staff attitude, theyre busy talking and left all the table dirty. Was very rude and doesnt wana refill meats. Very disappointed i can say more but theres no point . Just really bad

It's a great place to eat with friends/family. But a little concentration on keeping clean serving utensils would be good. Also when we were there recently the girl swapped our tray for a clean one, but when she grabbed the old one she nearly poured scolding hot oil on my family member because she didn't pay attention to it running out the side where it drips out from. This is a serious issue and they need to be very careful with things like this. Especially if it had scolded my family member or a child. She also while putting the new tray on let the oil drip onto the floor and didn't comeback to clean it up which made it a slipping hazard. I know this all seems negative but it's important feedback for health and safety. Food is always delicious though.

This place is also one of the bbq place to dine in! They have quality bbq meat and they serves ice cream for desserts which is amazing! The only down side here is you have to pay for the lettuce wrap which is free to other bbq place! All in all it is still one of the place to try for some korean bbq!

Ive been here several times and the last time I went, i was very disappointed. Yes they were busy and yes they had a lot of guests, but it took 15 mins for them to wash and get cutlery out to us because they were all gone. Then every single item after that was so difficult. We had to wait for plates, food, meat, and several cabinets/plates of food justcremained empty the whole night. Other items were gone in seconds as soon as it came out because just about every guest was eyeing and waiting for food to come out it became an uncomfortable competition, one which everyone was bound to lose. It was truly awful. If you are operating a buffet and receiving a high number of guests, you should be ready for them. Yes we were a large group, but surely you should be able to accomodate large numbers. I also recall that our large group waited outside for at least 20 mins after our reservation time because you werent ready and then to find you didnt even have plates and cutlery ready was awful. Hope your organisation has improved.

Had good selection of meat and tasted quite good since it was marinated. My favourite was the fried chicken. I also loved how there was ice cream you could grab for dessert and coffee. The service was really bad. The workers were snobby and they looked annoyed when we asked them for something. You could also see a lot (almost all) of the workers just sitting down on the tables next to us. This place would be perfect if the service were better

I'm in love with this place. Your money is worth the variety they're giving. The food and ambience is authentic. The servers are Korean. It's like payiny their countru a visit when going to this place. This is by far the best KBBQ experience that I've had (in New Zelaand and the Philippines). 5 stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Jinky Jimenez Cruz
Our go to restaurant whenever we are craving for Korean Bbq buffet. 👍🏼👍🏼👌🏼👌🏼 Love their variety of marinated meats. Their Korean Chicken is a must try. Value for Money as well.
Miriam Tuen Kirimaua
My husband took me here on Friday for lunch . I wasnt too keen after reading the negative reviews but I thought I’d give it a try and go with an open mind . Yes the place was a bit small for an all you can eat buffet but its not that bad . We got there around 3pm and it was empty, there’s only one couple tbh . The service was alright, they weren’t too attentive but we didn’t mind because we’re the type of people to just go with the flow and dont really ask much questions. I was happy with the selection of meats , my husband thought they could do with more lamb selection (his favourite meat) . So far the experience was good and i would definitely go back and try their dinner menu .
Louise
I came here for my birthday and had a relatively large group and booked in advanced. The staff on the phone were very friendly, however when you actually turn up the staff aren’t anywhere to be seen. The service isn’t the best (staff can come off quite rude especially if you don’t speak Korean). The cutlery is all self service and for around 30 minutes half our table couldn’t eat because the only utensils they had were spoons.

There’s a big variety of food, their precooked food is probably one of the better ones out of all the Korean bbq places on the shore for its price.

The reason I’m giving it a 3 besides the service is because of the ventilation in the restaurant. If you look up at the ceiling you’ll find all of the grime built up over the years because they don’t have any fans and the smoke from the bbq starts to sting your eyes. Because of the lack of ventilation the oil splatters everywhere and the floor and surroundings all become slippery and quite hazardous.

Overall if you’re coming here, please wear non slip shoes and don’t wear any nice clothes that you don’t want stained!

Went with friends late last friday and still they welcomed us. Great food at a reasonable price. Heaps of meat choices, sauces and side dishes. Comes with ice cream and coffee too. Accomodating staff as well.
Hannahmareecarr2
Was really excited to come here with 2 friends and try something completely different to normal. When we arrived, no one came to serve us for almost 10 minutes and when they did, we were told we’d need to wait 30 minutes for a table and the staff member was not at all accommodating to us. We ended up leaving after the poor experience with staff and do not plan on coming back unfortunately
Alice In New Zealand
This restaurant has no break time! Which was good as i went there around 4. Rice wasn’t good. Side dishes were salty for me. Meat was good. And was happy to have shrimp.
Anna Chan
It's really good value for money and there is a good range of raw food to BBQ. However to think they need to keep working on their smorgasbord menu. One thing I really didn't like was the layout of the restaurant and the lack of space. This left the food station feeling cramped and messy. It was almost stressful to navigate your way around everyone.
Payal Raro
This is our favourite KBBQ place to visit. My partner and I are regulars here. Restaurant is clean and food is delicious. We haven't found a buffet style KBBQ place that can beat Gangnam style!
Stefanie
I'm not sure if you just don't check your facts before replying or you're just trying to be rude, we were 6 full grown adults (aged 24-60, NO infants) asking for 2 to share between us 6 adults. I'm not being unreasonable as u suggested wanting 5 stoves for 5 people.
I have checked with a few friends and none has heard of u charging extra ever in the past two years as u claimed.
Safe to say, after your response to my review, I will not be back. Customer service is worth more than $4.
HungryHam
On Saturday as soon as we arrive, we were told its going to cost extra for a second stove. There were six full-grown adults on the table with only one stove?! Side dishes were below average, however the service was acceptable. They did not charge for the extra stove at the end but we got off the wrong foot that night. Final visit to this place.

I read the more recent reviews, and although they were quite negative we thought we’d give this place a chance hoping they’d take some of the criticism on board to improve. Wish we didn’t though as the reviews are quite accurate. Pay no attention to the advertised selection of choices and opening hours. Kitchens close at 9- not 10.30pm, you have a 2 hour dining time (not the 3 they advise for weekdays) and selection of meats, desserts and side dishes are extremely limited. Place is quite dirty and extremely stuffy. (Floors are slippery from the oils and an accident waiting to happen, no proper ventilation which is concerning given the open fire type method of cooking). Raw meats are left open and we observed flies near them- pretty unhygienic. The side dishes were pretty bland compared to other Korean restaurants we’ve tried prior.

Love this place been many times. Staff is always friendly and inviting. I enjoy the beef ribs there the marinate is great. Will be back here again.
Brave Eat
Hopeless Korean bbq, the staff is very unattentive spending time on their mobile phones and chatting with fellow staff members. Nothing NOTHING WAS EVER REFILLED!! unless you walk to them with a kind smile and ask them to refill but in return, you will get a very stressed and angry look from the staff members. There are flying bugs everywhere around the hot dishes and sauce stations and I am so grateful that I didn't get food poisoning. Even if you are super hungry and really keen on Korean bbq I highly do not recommend this restaurant.
Akym
Came here for bbq dinner buffet. They have a good selection of meats for the bbq but the other side dishes weren’t that great. The side dishes bowls were not refilled and they had already run out of kimchi even though it was only around 6pm. The restaurant was very hot which made the bbq experience very unenjoyable and we didn’t want to stay there for long. Reasonably priced considering the range of meats for the bbq but everything else was disappointing, will not return.
Madam Nancy
Went there this afternoon, Food is okay but service is bad. Staff are not attentive as they are very slow to refill food and dirty dishes are not collected. How disappointing. Also, one staff does not smile at all, a bit rude when speaking to customers.
Jake
Staff are not attentive to their customers; we even end up taking our dirty plates at the back of the restaurant because its piling up on our table. Food is not that great. It’s my first and last to that resto.
Nika Zetrik
Loved the place and had been here countless of times already. Food is very nice and tasty. Spot is nice and accesible. However, when we went here today...some of the staff are rude and not helpful at all! Food are not refilled from the trays unless you ask them to. Such a bad experience! Wont be coming back again.

Perfect bbq i have ever tasted in auckland. Staff is very friendly and polite and mostly all the foods remains unlike other bbq runs out. So much recommended.
Yashie L
We’ve been here twice without any booking but we are seated right away. Great meat range and side dishes were tasty. Just the topping up of meat are a bit slow but all in all good value for money! Would definitely recommend 👍🏻

Second time to the gangnam BBQ walked in off the street no booking but lucky to get in as been busy both times. Service is good and they get you set up quickly. Lots to choose from and always a fun experience once you know what your doing. This would of been a 5 star but not enough bulgogi! My favourite runs out too quickly :( other than that can't complain :)
Kai Mai
Nice little spot in Takapuna. Spacious and modern decor however found A/C System was old as they had the spinning rooftop fans placed in the centre of the outlet compared to other Korean BBQ places which had more modern A/C facilities. Good price for a night out but the location doesn't fare well with parking prices. A good variety of meats, condiments & desserts.
Honey Daniels
Love it ! Their food is really fresh, spread is pretty good . The chapchae is bae lol more often than not whenever I leave a review it’s negative . This is one of the exceptions .. price is reasonable and food is good ! What more can u ask for ? - ok maybe throw in some free flow rice tea ? 😛

Had a meal here a while ago. The place was normal. Sittingwere quite tight. Service was normal but attentive. There weresome food selection but you may not take some of them.
Sometimes the refills were slow. I guess I may not try again.
Thom
On a sunday night. Cooked dishes didn't get refills (apart from chips and rice). All water bottles are empty and when I tried to refill, the tap on the dispenser for cold water is broken and had to press so hard on the little head, basically took 2 minutes to fill up. And you'll need much water because everything is so overloaded with msg your tongue is just dying to drink something. So everyone ended up buying canned drinks from the fridge. Very good business strategy I gotta say. Not 1/5 because they have beef tongue and pork scotch and galbi tastes kinda nice,

This was out favourite Korean buffet restaurant for over a year ... we made a special trip to Gangnam from West Auckland.
But our last visit was a disaster... hubby, the kids and myself could not stop throwing up ... the next day after our meal there ! Thoroughly disappointed... don't think we can ever go back there! What a shame!
Jim
Best Korean BBQ I’ve been! Variety of choices of meat and cooked Korean dishes. Good location, easy to park. Everyone in the family loves this place.
Daniel Yep
I went here a couple of weeks ago with a friend. Most of the cooked food trays were empty and not filled up. I enjoyed the ssamgyeopsal (pork belly). The grill was dirty and was not able to be changed as they had run out. Ice cream was pretty much empty and we were advised there was no more. I think this restaurant needs more staff as it was difficult to approach the waitresses (there were only two of them) and both were extremely busy. Need to find a better method to cope with the heavy demand of customers (food running out, need more).

I did admire of the customer service of the two waitresses when needing something / querying something. They were both very friendly and did their best to assist when approached, and they worked very hard to ensure my time spend here was very satisfiable. As I believe customer service is the key, I am still very happy go give this restaurant a 4 out of 5 and would be keen on coming back.

My go to Korean BBQ~ affordable, good range of fresh meats, tasty cooked foods as well, and they have hot chocolate and ice-cream! Only let down is that you have to pay for lettuce....
Carlo Enrique
This is a great place to hangout with friends and get hammered afterwards. Not too big but doesn’t feel overcrowded. Food is great too, the’re heaps to choose from and they have ice cream all you can. The staff are very accomodating as well. As for the price, it’s a little pricey at $25 per head but it’s worth the experience. One minor concern is the parking, it’s kinda hard to find the nearest parking space at peak hours. Anyway, it’s awesome! 🍖🍗🥗🍤🍦😁

Arrived here for lunch a few weeks ago. Good selection of meats, soups and side dishes. Smorgasboard had good variety but was luke warm. When we arrived there was no staff to be seen. The only customer dining had to get up and go to the back somewhere and call someone. After we were greeted we were pretty much left to do our own thing, even getting our own drinks. Even though the eating experience was good the rating reflects poor customer service as I think that plays a huge part in the dining experience and staff were basically non-existent.
Destiny Mackay
The place could do with a good spray and wipe! It looks a little run down and dirty floors, walls and blinds. I do agree with the waiters looking tired, frantically running all over the show. Other than that id say it’s average to good. I did love the free ice cream.
Rosaria Nukunuku
Came here last Sunday for lunch without booking (party of 6). Even though it was pretty much full, we were lucky enough to get the last table right at the front of the restaurant (we enjoyed this table as it was a bit more private than the others)

The food was really tasty, but i would recommend coming after the lunch rush as it took a while for dishes to be replenished (they do have signs of this next to the food). Will definitely be back though! Value for money.

Make sure you try the fish - it is soooo good!
Rudina
Really good, would recommend to go to.
they have really good meets and side dish. free water. and kid friendly. they have private rooms!!!!!
Jason Zhang
Came here on a cold Saturday night in a group of 4 at around 8pm. It was cozy but the bbq smell was very strong as they lack ventilation. They have a good variety of marinated meat and side dishes, but the good side dishes cost $4 a plate. It was a little disappointing when lettuce costs, and there was no service at all. The 2 waitresses looked really really tired as if they just came from a long hike, so perhaps there should be 1-2 more waitresses? When we asked for the grill to be changed, it was also disappointing when the waitress said they ran out of grills so we couldn’t change them. The soju costs $13 a bottle which was reasonable, and it goes well with the meat.

Taste - 7/10
Price - 7/10
Service - 6/10
Eric Mendez
Ate here yesterday with the family and walked out very satisfied. Lots of meat selection plus a good range of cooked food plus soups and salads! Did I mention the ice to cap it all off!!!

Great place for lunch. I got to figure out how to be able to continue the day not smelling like food though. Extra shirt.
Louie Anthony
Free ice cream, yes they have their own ice cream machine which is included with the buffet. the owner is friendly and accommodating. recommended for family and friends get together.
Watt
This place is really really good!! Had lots of variety in terms of cuts of meat and more vege options than other k bbq places we went to. Staff were polite. Labels explaining the marinade ingredients in English and Korean a nice finishing touch. Marinade was tasty and meat very fresh :)
I'm A Foodie
This restaurant offers a great variety of meat which are fresh and yummy. It suprised me that the spicy squid was very tender. But the dessert is the only thing lacking here, they only provide ice cream.
Vikram.vij
This is the 1st time I have visited any Korean restaurant but it wasn't that good outing.
Ambience-very ordinary
Service-self service but staff will help if you ask
Taste-i didn't like most of the dishes

These guys offered Korean buffet at a decent price but taste was very ordinary of all the dishes even if I was trying for the 1st time my taste buds weren't moved a little bit.
And yes, their timings is till 10.30 pm but these guys came to our table at 9.30 and told that buffet will close in next 10 mins..That is very rude though!!
Lukesmith8788
It’s ok, worth the price, choice is limited, service is good, not easy for parking, always struggling, but better than another Korean buffet before we went, no need for booking and not too smelly
Brooke Valentine
Nice BBQ, tasty, beef rib never let us down, very easy and comfortable place, hot food not too much choice, standard Korean restaurant, it’s our regular place
Aman
BEST PLACE OUT. Love the food alway fresh and always stocked up the service is amazing everyone is so friendly especially the manager of the place and also the hygiene is amazing especially with the amount of different raw meats around . They make sure no cross contamination is happening.
Miguelito Rodriguez
Went here for a little graduation celebration, we came on a Monday without any reservation luckily staff accommodated us as its not that busy. Not quite a wide selection of choices but its value for $25. It could have been better if the grill heats up fast enough as it takes time to cook the food since they use an electric grill. At a point place become to smoky due to burnt grill. But staff are vey friendly in helping out. All in all its a good and value for money Korean bbq place.
Lo9ve3r 4s
Love the marinated crab but it takes aaaaages to cook the meat because they use weak electric cookers rather than gas. If it wasn't for that we'd come here more often. Not much variety too.
Katchuchipachuchi
Good food, good service, value for money. Nice selection of cooked food and raw meats. Always a nice family dining experience. Extra points for having ice cream and nice coffee/ hot chocolate to top off the meal.
Max
Had to change review as we were given severe food poisoning from here. We will never take the risk ever again...............................................................................................................................

I went for a friends birthday. The range is limited in terms of food, however I still really enjoyed the food that was there.
It's a small restaurant but still quite nice and it's more an experience than anything.
Overall, it was a nice celebration.
Michelle S
Options here are very minimal. But I feel that might be due to their small interior so there isn't much place to add more variety. However with 8 colours nearby, I'd much prefer to go there for better buffet options. Wouldn't try this place again unless they offered more options
Christine
This place can be a hit or miss. It can be extremely busy sometimes which is just out of control. Service is very slow - shortage of staff. I waited about 10 minutes to get my grill changed. The meat is amazing and delicious however the food runs out quickly and food refill is so slow. Utensils are sometimes dirty and wet because there is always not enough plates and forks, so the wait staff rush to bring them. Not a lot of variety in the side dishes, however they taste okay. Don't know the cleanliness of the restaurant because the floor is always wet and there are food dropped everywhere. I noticed the staff clean the utensils and refill food right next to the toilets, which I felt very uncomfortable about.
Mae Belandres
Great service!! The manager was very polite and struck up conversations. The place was very busy so it took a while for our hot plate to be changed. That being said the food was very fresh and kept up to demand. Will definitely be returning
Emmelyn Fuentes Rosell
The eat-all-you-can korean restaurant that has an ice cream machine. A lot of variety and a lot of tables. The place also has secluded parts for large groups. The staffs can use a torch to fasten the meats to cook for you.
Liksya
The ambience is wonderful. The location is very good as the House of chocolate is just beside it. We went here for my friend's birthday. Unlimited vanilla ice cream! They also have soft crabs, squid, prawns!
KP Thin
Love this place, my partner and I have been going here for about 4-5 years. It's a cosy place, can't get very packed sometimes and not suitable for small children as our high chairs didn't have a belt. The food overall was great. And one of the best Korean food I've had.
BAbyWin
Attractive $25 for all-you-can-eat Korean style BBQ buffet but felt cheated by their advertisement and photos. Different types of meat weren't labeled clearly so I had to guess what am I eating. Hot food was ok but very disappointed with their sushi and other sides. Only one type of rolled sushi are served and was poorly made. Soup is too oily and salty. The worst is their ice cream! They know the machine isn't working properly but still advertising having ice cream included in the buffet. I was speechless when I got a bowl of liquidity white thing in front of me, no idea how can I put such thing inside my mouth. Gave up on ice cream I decided to have fruits but all they got was thinly sliced oranges, pathetic amount refilled everytime run out. They were at good location but definitely need to work more on food 😔
Nathalie
Place wasn't packed (arrived early) we were seated right away. And food were all out already, nice meat selection (lots to choose from raw bar. And cold food as well (but quality isn't great). Disappointed with the hot food (they were not hot and was cold and soggy). Place is fair not very clean some of My utensil were dirty? Also they did not have any sushi and was made to
Order (poor quality too) overall the place isn't the best Korean BBQ, due to food quality and quality.
Lovelea Ho Suarez
I was craving for korean bbq. At first we were worried because it needs reservation but good thing they were able to give us a table but with the condition to end after an hour and 30 min. Without hesitation we accepted it and started grilling and eating. All good! I was amazed and i enjoyed a lot eating i here. I would love to come back here. 😁
Patrick Tong
For $25 buffet dinner, is okay. Food choice isn't great. Service is great. Seems a lot of customers (maybe is because tonight is Saturday night and school holidays).
Stevie
Dined here on Saturday night, made a phone reservation two days before but on arriving they had no record of it. When we finally got seated we had to wait 15minutes as there was no cutlery. Very slow at restocking the food. The staff also don't speak much English which is very hard when trying to communicate with them when paying the bill. We were over charged and when trying to ask what we had been charged for, the bill was then changed. Would not recommend.
Akkarpark Iam-Opas
I used to be a fan of this buffet restaurant. For me It was the best buffet restaurant in this area. Couple years ago it was very good in general. But these days I have noticed that the food , the taste and the services are not as good as before.

1. Kim Chi is more salter than before. It was very nice with sweet and sour.
2. No more Mash Potato which is my favourite.
3. The services is getting poorer as the waitress turn over is quite high. You need to have more waitress in the busy day too. One waitress is just impossible to handle things!
4. The air ventilation must be improved.
5. Many dishes ‘taste has been changed. I guess there has been a change of kitchen crews.

Better improve all the points I have mentioned, it will be good for you in long term.

Edited on 24/3/2018

Korean BBQ paradise!

I adored my visit to Gangnam style and I'm shocked at how lowly rated this establishment is, people complaining about having to cook their own meat and bad dessert etc..... DUH! Seasoned Korean BBQ eaters know that to really rate a Korean BBQ establishment, you have to rate it on the quality of the meat, meat selection and side dishes!

Gangnam Style offers you a variety of meats--they had seafood, lamb, beef and pork. What was really impressive were the different cuts and varieties of meat they had. For example Korean pork belly and normal pork belly.

The side dishes were awesome! Flavoursome kimchi, spicy/sweet Korean fried chicken ( I would totes come back just for the fried chicken ) and the ddeokbokki was delicious!

Showstopper: Best Korean BBQ I've had in Auckland.

Overall Grade: A

Me and my Friend like Korean BBQ and have recently been trying out different locations in Auckland.

So we decided to try this place out.

We decided to come here last Saturday for lunch. First impressions were great! It was nice and quiet and clean and the guy who greeted us at the door was so friendly!

Food - Good selection of meat, and the side dishes were delicious and always refilled. They even had fried chicken!! (yay)

Service - very friendly and welcoming.

I also took my younger sister (10yrs old) and she thoroughly enjoyed her first experience at a Korean BBQ.

Will definitely come back again!

Went here around 4pm and it was a good time to avoid crowd, and they start to refill all the food at that time too. But, if you want to go for dinner time, I suggest for reservation, since they will be so crowded at night and their place is limited.
They have lots variety of side dishes and range of bbq. Also their place looks modern than other bbq place. So much better than bbq in akl cbd.

Got here around 8pm..The food that had already been cooked/made e.g hot chips, fried chicken, sushi etc were very stale 😷 Was not nice at all. They started packing up all the food and taking them away around 9 which I found very rude. BUT the meat that we cooked was delicious 😊

Best place for a bbq and a buffet all for $25.00 per person. The variety of the meat was wide and they were pre marinaded the service was amazing and it was unlimited amount of food which got us going the most. We do not live in north shore but that place is diffenately worth the drive and the money for such an amazing Korean cuisine! Sherzan Pagdiwalla

Very clean and reasonable price for bbq buffet $25 per person. Yummy and well marinated meat. Good thought by provided bbq sauce which barely found in other places. Average dessert and fruits. To sum up, I Love it!!

Great place to hang out, have food and talk about your day. Great selection of side dishes and meats. Korean buffet with both styles of fried chicken; spicy, original and other food choices. Would recommend it to friends but not children. Highly recommend to try out there instant coffee and hot chocolate machine!
Only thing is that you will have to ask for your grill to be changed.
A Tale Of Two Tummies
Food ordered:
2x adults

Bill: $50

Big tummy: A couple of our friends recommended GSKBB, so we thought we'd give it a try. As a few other reviews have mentioned, the restaurant is one of the quieter establishments in Taka, which was actually a nice reprieve. No reservations necessary... we were able to just walk in and grab a table. I'm not usually a big fan of places where I have to cook myself (I am a shocking cook), but my girlfriend is a whiz in the kitchen so I figured I was in safe hands here.
The pre-cooked food was actually surprisingly good. The spicy kimchi was fresh and delicious, providing the perfect companion to all the meat. The Korean fried chicken was also one of the highlights of the night. Sticky and sweet, I would seriously consider coming back just for this alone. The fish was tasty, but unfortunately it was cold, suggesting it had been sitting there for a while.
The BBQ itself was relatively good. The beef ribs, pork belly and chicken was superb... though I guess some credit should be given to my girlfriend, since she is the one who cooked it (5 stars for you). I found the spicy squid to be a bit short on spice and taste though. I didn't try any of the "desserts", but my girlfriend, as an avid fan of dessert, was utterly mortified at the dessert selection. Like her facial reactions to the desserts was genuinely the highlight of the whole meal for me.
Overall, GSKBB offers exactly what it advertises. It's a cheap buffet with some hit and miss dishes. If you're looking in the mood for a buffet, have the meaty cravings and don't want to spend too much... GSKBB is worth checking out.

Little tummy: As a fan of Hanna Korean BBQ in Balmoral, I'm relatively familiar with Korean BBQ establishments, so had pre-set expectations. For the prepared food, I found the sticky Korean fried chicken to be my favourite. The other options were kind of average. The salad bar with fresh lettuce and sprouts was a very welcome feature though. We were able to make our own little spring rolls with the BBQ meat, sprouts, sweet chili sauce and lettuce. The BBQ meats were exactly what you'd expect from a Korean BBQ. A decent range of options and the quality was fairly good. The absolute biggest disappointment for me though was definitely the dessert... or lack thereof. Other than fried banana, the dessert options are basically non-existent. Milky salad with broccoli in it is not dessert. Pizza is not dessert. Sushi is not dessert. Even basic ice cream would have been much appreciated. We had to go across the way to The House of Chocolate afterwards for a real dessert. The mains were okay, but for me, the desserts were a deal-breaker.

Went here for dinner on Saturday night with friends and really enjoyed it. Thought it was great value for money, all you can eat for $25 including a selection of meat you can cook yourself and selection of hot food like sweet and sour pork, fried chicken a number of salad options and deep fried banana for dessert that I really enjoyed. The staff were great as well, our waitress was really friendly, would defiantly come back.

A nice Korean bbq buffet in Takapuna

We decided to come here after the other kkbq place was full and it wasn't a bad decision at all. We arrived at around 6pm and it wasn't busy. We actually prefer it being quiet as opposed to loud crowds. There was the standard selection of cooked foods and uncooked meats. I always enjoy eating the cooked foods and I really liked the fried chicken. The uncooked meats (once cooked on the bbq grill) were really nice, we only eat pork and beef so we don't mind they didn't have a lot of seafood (only squid). There were a lot of sauce choices and plenty of lettuce/radish sheets to eat with the bbq meats. I especially enjoy drinking the rice water and they had these nice banana desserts. There is also free hot chocolate/coffee for those wanting a nice hot drink to finish. The staff is really friendly and attentive but once it gets busy, it's hard to find someone to change the grill but don't be worried about approaching them. The floor of the restaurant was a little slippery or maybe it was the chairs, not too sure.

Picture:
- Pork belly on the bbq grill
- Selection of cooked foods along with lettuce and sauce selection (I got the ssam jang and sesame oil) and the uncooked pork belly/beef

It is $25 per person which is standard for pretty much all korean bbq buffet restaurants and if you're after a nice quiet place, I would recommend it but if you want a loud busy place with a large selection, it would be better elsewhere but overall, I definitely liked it and will come back.

I like that place very much! Friendly service, nice and decent food. There dessert option is more than other restaurant. The the staff will help you to flame your meat as well!

It's ok for the price. Selection is limited but can't be picky for only $25 buffet Korean BBQ. Place is nice and clean and items weren't refilled as often as I would like. Food tastes good but it depends on the time you get here. Can taste quite stale especially if it has been left out in the cold for a period of time. Service is good. Nice atmosphere. Food can be improved.

Arrived at Gangnam Style for a dinner buffet looking forward for an awesome night and good food. The staff are nice and friendly, and the food tasted alright. However, I noticed there was supposed to be sushi on the plate but no one was there to refill the plate. Service wasn't at its best, but the place and atmosphere was good. I probably won't go there again.

Outstanding food and service. Good price too. I would love to go back there again! When I am going to have massive dinner with many of my friends for special occasions, this will be the perfect place to host. It is clean and well organised. So many varieties of great foods. Not just meats but also vegetables etc. Good for our health! Very impressed and amazed. I strongly recommend it.

Excellent food. Excellent service. All at a very humble price. I stumbled across this stunning buffet just a few weeks ago due to its wonderfully clean and modern interior and the logo of GANGNAM STYLE. Just great food at a great price. A very wide selection from all-you-can-eat bbq meats (both marinated and non-marinated), seafood, selected asian dishes, salads, soups and also oriental deserts. Very well-priced for such a stunning selection of fine foods and drinks. Was thoroughly impressed. Give it a go. You wont be disappointed!

Yes it’s really a restaurant named Gangnam Style I heard that the restaurant was there before the song – well it doesn’t really matter which came first anyway since Psy’s icon is on the restaurant sign now hahaha. Now the place won’t look anything Kpop-ish, just a normal looking restaurant.
I had my first Korean BBQ experience in this restaurant and I wasn’t disappointed. The buffet had a good range of marinated and non-marinated meats, pickled vegetables and lots of lettuce to make your Korean BBQ meat wraps. There’s also lots of cooked food if you get tired of cooking your own meat. I liked the tteokbokki, it’s not too spicy for me. There was also some delicious sweet rice drink to end the meal with.

More on: http://sweetsandbrains.com/2014/04/11/gangnam-style-korean-bbq/

I didn't expect much from this buffet because of its name but this place is worthy to check out. Their grill where you BBQ the meat is the best among all those korean BBQ buffet. Other buffet's grills are very old, they sometimes just boils the meat other than grilling. The quality of meat is good enough.

This restaurant tries to mimic the Gangnam Style theme, with even the host wearing a costume just like what PSY wears - Tight pants and black shirt!

Apart from the above, the food here is good overall. A lot of different meat choices for if you are going to BBQ (this is also immediately replenished when one or more meats are gone), with hot food to complement the BBQ as well. The restaurant itself is not big, but table sizes are good enough.

We did have trouble finding where this restaurant was because it was hidden in the alleyway in Takapuna!

And when you're finished with your meal, there is also a coffee/hot chocolate machine for you to refresh your taste buds!
