Had dinner tonight at Alchemy. Food was stunning. The platter as a starter had items not usually found on a standard platter and both mains were top notch. There were a number of locals there as well which is always a good sign. Will definitely be back !
Holy crap, after the last place we went to in Wanaka, this place is the shiz!!! What a fantastic place, great service, very friendly staff, and accomodating. Food was perfect, and we got our promo stamp no hassles at all.

Perfect spot on the Wanaka strip for the amateur diner, with solid outdoor tables ideal for taking in the charms of the town and people watching. You still need to go inside to order, but the food arrives quickly with the friendly service! My blue cod fish burger was delicious, and the slow cooked lamb salad was a standout! Also one of the only places I have seen with complimentary sparkling water on tap!
We chose Alchemy as our date night spot and we were delighted! Modern, rustic and moody. The food and wine are gorgeous - you'll find they offer a carefully thought-out menu. Staff were friendly and helpful, contributing to a relaxed, cosy and elegant atmosphere. Thanks for a great night guys.
Currently sitting right now with mountain view in this cafe! Love love the view including the wanaka lake. This place has a good vibe with some edm music background, fast paced. Pretty packed on a Sunday lunch time however service was quick. I have ordered the green eggs and ham (dr Seuss!!) and it was delicious! I love basil and pesto so that's a big thumbs up for me. However quite a portion so didn't finish it. Also had a large soy flat white and it was done well not burned or anything. Love the interior Of this place with white tiles and some modern natural wooden furnitures. I particularly love the world map and globe decor!
Nice customer service. Food is good made with good quality ingredients. However it lacking the complexity. Interior design was just urban casual dinning style. However view of lake Wanaka was good. Nice for a nibble & casual drink. Tiny bit pricier end. Overall rating 3.8*
Loved it so much we came back the next day for breakfast again! Good coffee and great menu! Fast and friendly service and free wifi and lots of seating! Definitely recommend!
This was our go to place in wanaka for the week. The restaurant service was extraordinarily fast, even when busy. However the coffees usually took a wee while and the barista was clearly stressed therefore un-accommodating. Coffees were average. But on the other hand, food was delicious. Adam had a salmon eggs Benedict, which only came with one poached egg, and he would have expected two. I had smashed avo on toast with micro greens and salmon. Some avo I think was packet and micro greens were alfalfa sprouts - bit of a fancy name - however the meal was served with feta and olive oil, plus I added a side of smoked salmon, and along with the real, fresh avocado it was exactly what the doctor ordered.
Would certainly return, this is a hidden treasure.
Like this place a lot. Drop by for breakfast every time I'm here, mostly because it's a bit quieter and there are lovely views of the lake with outside eating. Nice food, nice coffee, quiet, nice decor, nice staff. It's counter service and has cozy indoor or sunny outdoor seating.
A five star dinner experience without doubt! We have been here for over a week now travelling the South Island and this is the best meal we have had yet! Waiting staff were attentive and friendly, service was prompt and professional, food was exceptional and tasty (and reasonably priced for the quality), it came out in waves and at a perfect pace. A snack a small plate two large plates and a dessert were perfect, although could probably have squeezed in something else (a side maybe)! The lamb was exquisite and I would highly recommend it! A great lakeside location with a relaxing atmosphere. Top top meal!
1 of only 2 smart NZ cuisine restaurants in town that are open for dinner in the summer of 2023. Sharp, efficient service, well-trained friendly front-of-house staff. Good food. Lively, pleasant atmosphere. I had Pink Oyster Mushroom, coconut glaze, puffed forbidden rice (5) and Crispy John Dory, Green lipped Mussels foam, garlic scales (4). Man O' War Island Blend (excellent) (this wouldn't match with fish, but would be a great partner for lamb).
The last 2days in Wānaka this year, and is the last 2days of their opening. But One that need to come to an end. All the best for you all.
Lovely establishment. We spent a few hours here on two occasions, the staff were happy for us to be on our laptops and charging ports were available at some tables. The food was delicious and everything was very reasonably priced. Water and sparkling water was available for free which was very nice.
Wow wow wow. Went here with my partner. We ordered the mushroom/ hash brown stack and the BLAT. My partner loved his meal and I tasted the hash brown- very very good. My BLAT was the best BLAT I’ve ever had! It was a very decent size too. The guy next to us ordered a brownie and it looked so soft so I thought I would get one too. The brownie was next level amazing- one the the best I’ve had. I need the recipe!! The coffee we got was almond milk.. it was ok. You need to order up at the counter which is a bit annoying if it’s busy and you have to stand in line. The staff were lovely and seemed to care about our experience.
Everything we ordered was pretty great but the standout for me was the Vietnamese pork crepe. It was delicious and something out of the ordinary! Very kid friendly place with a small box of toys and books. Staff were friendly and accommodating.
Excellent service but a somewhat limited menu. However, most of what was served was nice. Aged steak was a bit chewy and disappointing given how expensive it was. Korean Fried chicken was good and I recommend Chocolate Nemesis. Some options for GF. Atmosphere was nice for adults wanting some peace and quiet. I wouldn’t rate it as good value but would come back.
Loved Alchemy! Had stunning cocktails and dinner while in town and really enjoyed it. Great vibe, lovely staff and yummy food. Their bfast was also super yum!
We discovered Alchemy on our second day in Wanaka. Louis makes the best coffee that we've had in NZ and the cinnamon scrolls are to die for. The service was great. So welcoming and friendly. We'll definitely be back.
The Fried Chicken and Waffles was one of the best dishes my partner and I have eaten!
