We came for the cheap prices but would return for the food and coffee! Wasn't expecting much but our Eggs Benedict's were very decent homely fare and the coffee was excellent! It's signage is hidden behind scaffolding at the moment so be sure to look for it even if you can't see the sign! They deserve the business :)

Well gosh! What a treat! I am a bit old fashioned at heart, and while I am quite fond of international foods, and will often pick sushi over a pie (for my waists sake!) - Margie's Cafe took my breath, and hunger pangs, away! At a glance, the food on offer in the ample cabinets is very much kiwi cafe fare, which in itself is not a common thing this close to the city centre, but the atmosphere reminds me of a classic tea-rooms visit in a small rural town. Very cosy with good, honest food. I was drawn in (as I often am) by the potato top pie. There was the full range on offer (Steak - with it's cheese, mushroom and onion variants, mince, chicken...all of the classics) as well as pork kebabs, spring rolls and sausages. The sandwiches on offer were large fresh looking and everything was reasonably priced. I spent $15, had a good lunch and a club sandwich saved for afternoon tea. The pie was delishous, the potato light and fluffy with a scattering of melted cheese in top. A nice buttery pastry and tasty mince filling. The pork skewer was fresh, tasty and had a nice texture. The club sandwich was a real treat, I recommend this, as it had large chunks of avocado, which raised this to the next level! If you are in the city and can't make up your mind, call in here. It will make you happy.

This takes you back. Old fashioned kiwi style cafe, delightful food, you slide you tray along as you pick your choices from the cabinets. Brilliant. My club sandwich was great, and my sausage roll was perfect.

Went to Wellington with 2 friends and found this gorgeous cafe. Wow. What fresh & amazing food at the most reasonable prices. My chicken wrap was $6.50 & really packed with fresh ingredients. My friends had beautiful fresh sandwiches The egg in one was so thick. Just superb. Look around the corner & you will see the hot food cabinet. So many tempting items

Margie's is a bit of a hidden gem. In a time of reducing places to buy food it's a great place to go and buy your lunch with a good selection and decent prices. If you work in the Willis, lampton, Jervois Quay area then it can be your every day lunch spot. Rolls, wraps, cakes, pies, toasties chips, drinks, milkshakes and lots more. I first used Margies about 15 years ago and is again my local lunch spot. Eat in or take it back to your next meeting.

How have I never found this gem?! From the eggs benedick on the menu to the back alley entrance. Choice spot for a working lunch.
