Love dining at Abruzzo. The food, staff and ambience are always on point. It feels like your nestled in a little part of Italy. Definitely my go-to restaurant when I’m in need of some delicious Italian food.
We eat here about once or twice a month. Our typical order is pesto pizza, fettucine carbonara, and lasagne. Boy oh boy, this lasagne...the tomato sauce is so fresh, light, yet flavourful, they've got the melty-cheesy-crunchy texture combo sorted, and the portion size is great value for the price and quality of the meal. The service is always fantastic - lively, warm, and good-humoured. 5/5 would recommend to anyone / everyone.
Taste was just exceptional! Sooooo TASTY. Customer service, the food and the restaurant’s layout is 5/5. Prices were expected as the food is just that good, i would say its fine dining but the prices are a half of what fine dining would look like😍 would definitely return when i have the budget lol
I love this little gem in our neighbourhood! The friendliest staff with the most authentic Italian food. They are also so accommodating if you want to add and remove things from your dishes. Thanks for the amazing birthday dinner - you really helped make my night special!
This is an amazing Italian restaurant. Staff us super friendly, and the food is simply delicious :) This is a must, and I will certainly come back!
Took the family here ..and good kids meals and attentive friendly staff ../and very fresh and crispy pizza 🍕..and calamari and salads and olives ...overall good and cheaper than Blitza next door ...👍
Went here last week and had an excellent meal. The gnocchi really is good. We all enjoyed our food and the wine was well priced. Good service too. Would highly recommend.
Great place. Very cosy. More authentic Italian than a lot of places in Italy !! A nice change from all the Asian restaurants in Birkenhead. I always judge Italian restaurants by their Bolognese - I figure if they cant even do that properly then there's no hope.
Abruzzo bolognese is spot on !! That and a procsecco...what more could you ask for !
It was our first visit to Abruzzo in Birkenhead. During a weekend dinner time, the restaurant was almost 90% full. When we walked into the restaurant, there was a wood fired oven right in the restaurant.
We ordered seafood spaghetti, mushroom pizza, 2 kid size pizzas (Hawaiian and salami pizzas). Kid's meal was including of a pizza or pasta and an ice cream or a drink and it was $12 per set.
The fungi pizza was simple and delicious.
The seafood spaghetti was so yummy! With squid rings, prawns, mussels and scallops, cheese on the wine based sauce, the combinations were excellent!
The prices of the food were reasonable.
Overall experience was good.
Went here after a friend recommended it. Was a smaller area but very sweet. Food was excellent and the staff were very friendly and willing to answer any questions. Especially our waiter! Decor was very elegant. Only downside would have been that it took a while for us to be seated despite having made a booking several days prior. Over all a good night!
Our first time here for dinner. Realy great on all levels. We had the Canelloni and Ravioli both amazing.. We will be back!
Went on a quiet Thursday evening. Order bunch of food sorry forgot to take breads photos which was delicious I had pesto bread and parmesan for my partner. The pasta had too much cream could have been just coating enough. Also the chicken dish had too much cream they could add less cream to the sauces the star of the dish hides with the intensity of the sauce. Too strong flavours overall good atmosphere and service but food wise sometimes “ less is more” 😊
Had a lovely family meal here a few weeks ago. Was a quiet Monday night (we were wearing quite early with our 4yo) but soon got pretty busy. Great that it’s byo - not many of those options these days! Service was fab, meals were generous and delicious. Will be back for sure.

Perfection! I highly recommend booking a table ahead of time as it’s a popular place! We started with the calamari appetizer. It is absolute deliciousness! Not a bit of rubberiness which is hard to achieve with calamari. My husband ordered the ravioli and it was perfect. The pasta was cooked perfectly, not too al dente and not too soft. The sauce was fresh tasting and perfectly seasoned. I ordered the filet which was cooked perfectly and well seasoned. 10/10 recommend!!! My new favorite place in Birkenhead. See you soon!!!
We enjoyed our meal at Abruzzo. Steak was cooked perfectly, as was the chicken. Happy with the sides too and I recommend the garlic bread. Service was friendly but agree with another reviewer that you should not sit by the menu/cutlery cabinet as it gets busy. We'll definitely be back.
Eye fillet is the besttttt!! Soft juicy and creamy sauce. Everyone should try it plsss!
Absolutely amazing place to dine, food was just perfect 👍 and the best seafood I have ever had in any restaurant 🥰 definitely a spot to hit for a fabulous meal with amazing staff.

Excellent service and great food. I got a fettuccine quattro formaggi and it was delicious.
I've also been there a few times for pizza and it was great. Would totally recommend.
