I like the cocktail bar feel with the high tables and chairs. It's a great place to have drinks and nibbles with friends. The set up is intimate but spacious enough.
They have an extensive drinks menu and a great food menu to go with it. The meals are reasonably priced with lots of options.
We had beef short rib and it was amazing. The beef was cooked medium, they didn't ask what we preferred though. The sauce on meat tasted creamy and it went really well with the dish. Furthermore, my boyfriend ordered mild wine and said it had a pinch of spice, warm and tasted fine.
Ambience was great too! On the whole, an excellent experience. Will definitely go again.
19/4/2017: Ok we are back 10 days after our first meal here. I've changed my rating and bumped it up to 4.5. This time i got the duck confit croquets and a side of kumari chips. Awesome from the from the very first bite! Came with chutney which went together just divinely with the croquets. My partner once again had the chicken schnitzel. The prices are also very reasonable and the food. It will be vert hard to feel dissapointed leaving this place.
9/4/2017: Pleasantly surprised. Had the Tuna Poke and it was delicious, beautifully dressed. Tuna was a teensy bit overcooked but had that lovely char taste. Really yummy coconut and lime dressing. My partner had the chicken schnitzel and that was also very pleasing ! Tasty salsa on top. Quite chuffed with this place and worth a visit if you are in the area!
Went there for late lunch, the food is always good, the service very friendly, nice and cosy to seat outside on a sunny day . I really like this eatery.
Really love this place, the food is well presented, the atmosphere is nice and cosy. The service was a bit slow but it was expected since they were quite busy even on weekdays. The waitress was very nice too, only problem is the portions were small and a tad pricey. But definitely worth a visit as the taste was definitely a 5/5
Sunday 16 October 2016 - Called in for the Waiters Race after party with my friend Peter, very quick service and a delis glass of Moet & Chandon Champagne, nice and relaxing surrondings. Have been here for dinner 6 years ago when it was Red Brick, Kitchen & Bar.
It was great to finally visit 46 & York - we had heard so many good things about it. The menu is simple but delicious & very well presented. The location is on Parnell Rise, and the interior is great with dark wooden floors & white walls - very cosy.
We enjoyed all our dishes with the surprise standout being the fries with garlic salt - yum! Their cocktails were also really great. We ordered 2 burgers with fries - a real homemade patty with lettuce & tomato. Filling but not heavy. Also the calamari, steak with mushroom sauce & waffles for dessert.
Service was unfortunately a bit hit & miss. Fantastic & welcoming upon arrival, but not consistently as good. One drink took ages to arrive (a juice took 20-30mins) but an apology was appreciated, and all was okay. We then had to keep waving our waitress down to firstly get a dessert menu & then order. A disappointing ending to an otherwise great night which has reduced our rating. Hopefully just a one off as I've only heard good things previously.
We had lamb cutlets and steak. Both tasted great. Lamb cutlets tasted much better though. I loved the place. So warm and cosy with a real chimney. The waiters spoke to fast. But may be it was the restaurant policy. I might go there again. Because I liked the environment.
Had the duck croquettes, beef wagyu, grilled butter nut salad and fries. Lovely flavors. I was really surprised that a small place like this produce such unique and distinct dishes. Wow!
The affogato dessert was a bit of a let down though sorry. I could taste icy bits in the ice cream and the coffee was too diluted.
Lovely service (Mr bartender/waiter has an impressive beard for a young lad) though. Great place for a dinner catch up with girlfriends 😆
We had a dinner reservation mid week night recently. First time at this place and was excited to see and taste what it has got to offer. Upon arrival place was really busy and warm inside - lucky we booked a table.
Tables were quite small, for 3 of us, we tried to put glasses and plates but would be good to have more space for groups, as we felt a bit compact.
Menus are a bit outdated in terms of prices - they went up a wee bit for most of the meals.
Food - quite good. However I have had a steak and it came out barely warm - cooked as requested MR, but the experience was ruined by the cold top of it and only slightly warm inside.
Burger was OK, nothing special and for the new price I wouldn't get it again.
Good drinks selection and inside atmosphere.
I would like to come back in summer and see how different it is then with all the cocktails and outside.
Always a great atmosphere for after work cocktails or a beer in the sunshine! Easily the best place to enjoy a sundowner - one of the only places on east side of the city that gets that all-afternoon sunshine. Also, the food is consistently great - the curly fries with truffle - to die for! And there’s plenty of gluten free goodness on the menu.
46 and York is an awesome place to meet friends for drinks and a bite to eat. They have heaps of unique cocktails and a range of beers/ciders on tap. The food is great and ranges from bites to share (chicken sliders are my all time fave) to yummy meals. There's a lot of parking directly outside which is unheard of for a bar in Auckland city and is a great after work spot as the tables outside have sun until late in the evening. Can't fault it, one of my favourite bars in Auckland
Excellent food. Good Service. Just don’t try and eat the skin like I did with the smoked fish. It was so delicious that I was like, “ I’m going to eat the skin “ next thing I knew I was chewing on a bunch of scales. My fault? Hmmmm maybe. In general very nice and the steak was cooked to perfection and a nice size to let me carry on with my night.

The food was outstanding! Fresh ingredients perfectly brought together with a simple yet well thought out menu.
The casual lounge music and comfortable setting is perfect for a quick bite or with your mates.
The bar looks pretty well stocked and caters for pretty much any kind of beer, wine, spirits and cocktails.
I'll be back for that Wagu Burger!
Absolutely Beautiful Restaurant and Bar, Excellent service, spectacular view of the Park and Sky Tower. Atmosphere was superb and our Dinner was exceptional.
Thank you to all the Wait Staff and the Chef for a great evening out
Excellent service by the barman, as a single diner I felt very welcomed, thank you. I went to 4 other places in Parnell and they were all places I will never consider again. Thank you for your service and attention to detail!
Classy (but not pretentious) in Parnell. Came here for dinner and drinks on a wintery Sunday evening and they had the fireplace going which was a nice touch. Great selection of wines with a few of our favourites on the menu. Friendly attentive staff. Parking right outside. Food was top notch. Would be an excellent place after work too! Looking forward to coming back 👍
The chicken sliders are the best sliders you've ever had, and the Kokoda is to die for. The bruschetta is perfection. So well balanced, full of flavour and fresh. The atmosphere is relaxed, a great place for an easy lunch or great way to wind down after a long day. The staff are lovely and the drinks refreshing.
Not to be missed. You'll want to go back, all the time.
Excellent venue for a party of 40. Staff are excellent. Attended awesome birthday celebration there.
Always a nice place to drink and relax with friends....Friendly professional staff 👌
