Visited Diehl’s for the first time in a long time as I used to live so close by to the bakery but have now moved out west! So happy to see that Diehl’s is still delivering top quality German baked goods!! Prices are very decent for the quantity and quality of food you get and the staff are absolutely lovely! Can’t wait to come back and buy more delicious treats and buns!
Good variety of authentic german baked goods, not the mass produced gunk sold in most NZ bakeries. The Quark Schnecken and Berliner's are particularly good. Not 5 stars though due to the long wait (there's a queue out the door on Saturday mornings), the bread rolls aren't that good, and it's a bit pricey.

Visiting Diehls absolutely makes my week every time I get the chance. The fresh loaves are amazing with great rye and various different grain options, fabulous sourdough - the real, sour deal. The little breads are also exceptional - I recommend the mini rye rolls, pretzels and pretzel buns. Buy some unsalted butter and various meats from Black Forest Butchery up the road (namely black forest ham) - slap it together and you will find a little slice of heaven. Also highly recommended with sweet and nutty cheeses atop the buttery layer - mmmm. As for the pastries these are also a delight - cheese twists are moreish and crisp, cherry danish, poppyseed cake, cheesecake squares, plum cake - everything recommended depending on your favourite flavours :) Not much parking / slightly awkward parking situation and no where to sit but so truly worth the trip. Also if you miss out on the hours which can be very frustrating, they also have some big loaves for sale on Saturdays at Black Forest Butchery in Albany.
After being advised by a South African friend, we have been to Diehl's many times over the past few years. The bakery is tucked away down an obscure driveway, is not well advertised, and relies largely on word-of-mouth - but it truly is a hidden jewel. Although parking is limited there always seems to be a number of people there getting their supplies. The assortment of breads and cakes is superb. The breads are primarily German style, and the cakes and pastries include many European staples. We regularly go for the cherry Danish pastries, which are simply the best we have ever tasted. The pockets (both cherry and peach) have recently returned by popular demand, and are very very good. Also worth mentioning are the macadamia nut cookies, the beestings, and the apple pastries - actually all the food is simply delicious!
Must thank whoever left the last review. I pass this bakery everyday for years, never visited myself. After reading the review I went in and bought some Danish breads this morning. OMG, let's just say I will be a regular. The people are super nice too. A+

So strange to read a bad review about this place. Best bakery in Auckland for sure- we come here every weekend to get some bread and pastries. Love it!
Outstanding breads and cakes. Igo is a master baker and it shows, everything here is delicious. Real rye breads that they will happily slice for you, and strudel to die for. If you arrive when they are taking the freshly baked pretzels out of the oven your willpower is a goner. Get here early as they sell out quickly.
A wonderful bakery with authentic German pastries and bread. The bread is always fresh and their pastries are to die for. My husband is German Austrian and it is the only place we have been able to find so far that has proper sourdough bread like he used to eat in Germany. Affordably priced for the high quality of food and pastries. Keep up the good work Diehl's :)
A hidden gem worth while visiting. The food is delicious and extremely fresh. There are so many options you are spoilt for choice and it caters for everyone.

An amazing bakery 🤩
I have been meaning to go to Diehl's for a long time now, and they did not disappoint! When I got there at 8, they had a short line to get in (4-5 people). When I got to the front of the time, the man serving me at the counter was extremely nice and had a big smile. The food was also very good (More details below). I stopped by before heading into work so I got cabinet food only, but I saw that they had a plethora of different loaves as well. Overall, I had a great experience and will definitely be back again!
Food I got:
Pretzels- I had both the the normal and sweet one. The sweet one was made of a flakey dough and a sweet party dough intertwined together giving you a interesting texture. The normal pretzel was fluffy and was seasoned perfectly with a bit of salt.
Apple Strudel - Very nice. The pastry was filled to the top with the apple filling. It was not super sweet and it was quite large.
Sausage Roll - WOW. This is one of the best sausage rolls I have ever had. The sausage filling was nicely seasoned. It was balanced, juicy and had a very slight kick to it. The pastry was light and flakey and complimented the sausage filling very nicely.
Wow this is a well hidden gem. The food isn't cheap, because it's 100% real and quality. For the quality and rareness it is cheap. This could be a bakery delicacies store. The atmosphere is outstanding, my first visit I almost had tears in my eyes from the positive surprise. If you want to eat real bread, look no further. I am a born German and this bakery would be a great bakery in Germany, here it's like a dream.

First time trying this bakery and its the best pastry bakery I have ever tried in Auckland! Highly recommend their cheese sticks and almond crossiant. So delicious. Will be back in future for this hidden gem 😍
This place is AMAZING. Meinolf was so friendly and helpful when we had questions. The sourdough bread is perfect and they have traditional German pretzels that were still warm when served! We also had a danish pastry that was very delicious. I think everything from here probably tastes incredible. I’ve never been so happy to have visited a bakery! I will be returning here as often as possible!
This German bakery is a hidden gem! Don't be put off by the parking or the unassuming shop front. The inside has recently been renovated by the new owners and they make everything from scratch, specialising in authentic German artisan baking. Growing up in Germany, I can assure you this is the real deal. 😊

We‘ve just recently moved to the North Shore and I‘m excited to already have found a great German bakery! It felt like having breakfast at home in Germany. :-)
My Favourite bakery! Love the pretzels, I buy at least 9 for each time I visit. The owner always welcomed. Should come earlier otherwise the most would be gone.
