Service was fantastic and the food was great. When they found out one of the diners was gluten free they proactively changed the items on the platter for us. Cool place we will definitely be back.
It was a busy night but we were treated like roayalty by the owner, he ordered for us and we had the most wonderful food. He asked us what we liked and didn't like and went from there. We thoroughly recconend Saigon to anyone wanting a great night without the pretension of a Ponsonby eatery. We had family who have teavelled to Vietnam 6 times and thought the food and service was spot on. 5 stars without a doubt.
Very nice and quality Vietnamese food here. Lamb was beautiful cooked I would like to recommend everyone come to try they food here. They using good quality ingredients and taste is amazing.
This is our go-to for Vietnamese every time. The food is exquisite. Full of flavour, generous portions, fairly priced. Love it. The pho is especially good, as are the spring rolls and duck legs. Staff are friendly and attentive.
Wow! The food here was OUTSTANDING! My partner and I consider ourselves to have high food standards 😉 and this place did not disappoint! The flavours in every dish were unique and flavoursome. We shared the popcorn chicken, and the beef cheek, then had the grilled orange zest chicken breast and beef Pho. The meat in every dish was tender and melted in our mouths. We will definitely be returning! Highly recommended!! The atmosphere could be improved by dimming the lights a little and having a few barrier plants between rows of seating ☺️
Amazing food. International quality at local prices. This is a real find and I have rarely tasted better food anywhere in the world. Great service and very gluten free friendly.
Excellent service and excellent food. A perfect place for a book group night out. My favourite dishes were the Aromatic Chicken and the scallops. All the dishes we shared had their own unique Vietnamese flavours or sauces. The salads balanced the meal with a fresh crisp element and the additional vegetables were cooked to perfection.
I simply loved the food.The food is just like what I prefer. Perfect taste. Balanced flavours. The restaurant decoration is unique as well. Loved the environment. Besides, the staffs are friendly and very welcoming. ✌️

It was a crisp autumn day when we headed into Kingsland, our neighbourhood's neighbour, to try out Saigon which has replaced its predecessor Loop in the main strip. Our strongest recollection of the building was how cold it was on the inside, so we were nicely surprised to find it a bit more temperate but... still not mega-comfortable. A dramatic flower display met us on entry, along with some intriguingly angled chairs... designed to welcome to the visitor into the space perhaps? Our food took a while to arrive which was unusual given that there were only two parties in the restaurant - perhaps it was because we were a group of 7, perhaps it is because they put a seeming impressive amount of effort into the meal presentation, along with the Vietnamese coffee both of which were reasonably tasty. It was lovely to have Julie and Rhys join us for lunch from CAP - this may have distracted us from our waiter's laggy service as he looked like he would rather be elsewhere. Really nice restaurant, I recommend the chicken skewers :) the chicken salad was tasty but a little small. The pork ribs were delicious and so was the roti!
Very happy with the food and customer service.
Everything tasted yummy but needs more on the plate as it was a cold night and everyone was looking for something hearty to eat.
Im Vegan so I got the Tofu Salad and the Summer Rolls and was happy with my meal.

Five stars for the duty manager- Jayden. He has super great customer service and was helpful with explaining the menu and different drinks. My cocktail was amazing and not overly sweet like a lot I've had. The food was also great and seasoned. I loved the vegetarian curry and the roti is flaky and buttery. Very authentic and the portions are decent and nicely presented. the atmosphere is cosy and has Asian elements and decorations. Helen M loved the pork ribs.
I my absolute favourite salad, Vietnamese mango salad is served at Saigon in Kingsland. The restaurant is absolutely stunning in interior fit out with a Vietnamese street food style in decor. The staff is excellent and highly attentive.
The fresh rolls are also delicious, fresh and herbaceous and I’m keen to try more of the menu. Highly recommended!
Dinner for five people we ordered three entrée, one salad and five mains to share. The portion is just enough for a bite eat plate but great for sharing. Cost about $35-40 per person just for food. Service was good and food was decent. Surprised at how quiet it was on a Saturday night though. Have to say the hectic Kingsland parking does not help.
Absolutely outstanding food. We've been here twice now and will come back again. Byo wine at $5 per head and great service.
Wow fantastic food, authentic and varied flavours. Really enjoyed the fresh rolls, great dipping sauce with a kick. Also the crispy beef cheeks and the lamb was fabulous. Highly recommend, we'll come again
We had a fantastic dinner here. Our group of 8 including 2 children all enjoyed the meal. Fabulous service and food. It was a birthday celebration so they even gave us a bottle of wine.
When there's an All Blacks game and everywhere else is booked, it works! But seriously, at least from the spring roll entrees they're good ... Really good. Will try again for more of a proper meal someday
A lovely cozy place, friendly staff and chef. Highly recommended place for anyone who would like to try Vietnamese cuisine with a touch of European flavour.
Great cheap vietnamese! summer rolls a cut above the usual and Goat curry is fantastic as are the stirfried tuatuas definately recommend.
Great owner, many vegetarian options, and very tasty food.. will definitely be back!
