If anyone ever says to you that a kebab is just a kebab then you need to cut that kind of negativity out of your life. The kebabs in Auckland occupy a whole scale. You've got your mystery meat ones right at the bottom and then you've got Betsia coming in around the top of the scale.
Ordered the lamb on rice and it was superb. It's a touch pricy but for the quality of the meat and salad, it's worth it for me. Flavours and char on the meat is also up there.
The guys that work here are so lovely and always smiling! They serve delicious burgers and make up a super delish kebab! It’s our go to take away if we want something super quick
Best burgers in Auckland. Always same good quality. Very good taste and good portion. I only try the burgers and the schnitzel but they are so good that don't need to try anything else
Stopped by after a pub session at Galbraiths. Hadn't had dinner yet and this was the one of the few places still open after 2200.
We came in and there were still a few people around. The main menu is behind the counter but there were some specials on the other wall. We ordered at the counter and picked a table. Food came out fairly fast and together. Cheap and delicious late night food.
Ordered a mixed kebab, tasted great compared to other kebab places I visited. Wide range of vegetarian menu and burgers. Service was friendly. Definitely go back again
Betsia will always liven up this forgotten part of Symonds street now britomart bound buses are now re-routed to cross grafton bridge now. As i know that our middle eastern pals are good at cooking a storm with our N.Z lambs i just couldn't resist the lamb again which was the lamb curry and just nice and tender as always, oh and the garlic chippies are nice too. Just like next door neighbor Ruang Thong they have another branch just down the road, unsure why 2 branches so close to each other.
Me and the flatmates had a pretty long day on Sunday and what started to be journey to roast (which ended up closed) quicklt turned to late night dinner here. This place is more of a regualr spot for me and a few mates.
THE FOOD
Cajin Chicken on rice (4/5) - I loved this dishes and the ratio of rice to veges (perfect). But it didn't taste much like Cajin
Sovlvaki on rice (4/5) - I not sure if its me but if I done a blind taste test between this and the cajin chicken
Falafel (4/5) - Loved it, good crunch outside and soft inside, and on $2
Chips (3/5) - Good but not amazing
Butter Chicken on rice (5/5) I love this butter chicken more than most others. Just know though different people have different taste for butter chicken. This ome is a hidden jem, chicken cooked perfectly and sauce goes amazing with the rice. Also with leftover sauce I like using it with migorine noodles.
Kebabs in general (4.5/5) - Considering what it is and its fastfood thier ingredients are consistently fresh and the ratio seems to be just right.
THE ENVIRONMENT (3/5)
This is more a fastfood type of place to dine, i dont eat in much more takeaway.
THE SERVICE (5/5)
The staff have always been consistently friendly EVERY time. I felt sorry for though on Sunday night because there was only ome guy to abouy 12 people. Big ups to him for his hard work thay night.
Really good takeaway, massive burgers. I've been sick after having a falafel kebab but I'll still go back for the Camembert burger. A good thing is they have a large selection of vegetarian dishes
This place has really good kababs. The staff are super friendly
My fav food include chicken Breast on rice, their chilli lover kababs are so good and spicy.
The interior is nice. They have good burgers .I had their egg burger and the beef patty is comparatively big. They are open late on Fridays and Saturdays which makes it a good place after drinks
We've been to a few kebab places of late and tonight ended up at Betsia. Very pleased to say this is the best place so far - the kebab I'm chomping on now is better than the one from either Petra or Fatima's. We both ordered the lamb souvlaki and it's bloody Yum! $12 each. Just the right amount of spice, sauce, hummus, tabouleh, a generous amount of lamb and nice warm fresh pita wrap. And it comes in a foil lined paper bag to deal with any leakage, not that there was any, though it was really moist.. Anyway, obviously I recommend! Happy camper, looking forward to the baklava in the glove box.
Betsia is a takeaway and dine in restaurant in Symonds Street it’s a must for the kebab lovers l am a loyal fan of this place l found it 13 years ago and the consistency, presentation and good service is always perfect 🤩 my favourite is the souvlaki chicken with garlic yoghurt in salad for my kebab l love the Al Pacino Kebab with mozzarella this is delicious !!!!the new menu is coming soon l really enjoy one of the new plates antipasto Kebab subtle flavours the marinated olives and onion are giving the last touch of taste to the exquisite chicken kebab was for me a excellent gourmet experience l recommend this new addition to the Betsia menu congratulations for your consistency and strong eye detail !!!!
Absolutely amazing. Highest quality food, amazing prices, epic service. It’s my favourite restaurant in Auckland hands down, and it’s so much more than just kebabs
I always come and dine in here. The food is very fresh, unlike other places the salad used is also better feels fresh. I would totally recommend this place for lunch or dinner.
Just ordered a beef burger and cook made me the best burger I have eaten in a while. The burger was really good specially the mustard sauce that was used was very tasty. The food was fresh healthy and very tasty, will return again for more.
Some of the best fries of ever had, perfect, crisp on the outside with a soft, fluffy inside. Chicken on rice with salad served on a large authentic plate hit the spot perfectly. Everything was fresh and tasty. Will be back for sure.
Succulent meats, fresh salads & fantastic homemade falafel!!! 🌯🧆This place is THE👏BEST I've had in all of Auckland 💯🏆 - In a sea of corner-cutting corporate kebab shops, THIS is the real deal for deliscious, affordable kebab with uncompromising quality in a cute, casual and clean setting 🔥 The couple that run the place are so warm and kind and charming. They really understand the cuisine. The lamb is shaved off pink then sautéed to perfection. The spices and herbs are harmonious. Established over 20 years ago - they don't make them like this anymore! ❤️
I ordered a salad with chicken and it was very tasty. I liked the plate it was served on too, it had interesting design and added to the whole experience. So if you have time- dine in:)
Top tier hospitality. Was just dropping past after a couple beers in the city as they were closing up, and they were so caring enough to whip me up a quick chicken kebab, which just hit perfectly at 11pm. People from the Middle East are truly a gem, and so are their cuisine. Make sure to stop here for a lovely quick feed on a spontaneous evening in Eden Terrace :)
Popped in for a late night dinner. Guy at the counter was awesome. Quick service. The meat was so full of flavour and he let us have any sauces we liked. I had the lamb on chips and my partner had the mix on chips. It cost $12 for each of our meals. Would definitely go back. The kebab shop is also always very clean when I go in which is awesome.
Service and food are sometimes good and sometimes not.
Maybe it depends on the daily feelings of the chef and the staff. Hopefully they get better after the epidemic and stable so that I can have delicious food every time I come here to enjoy.
