A recommendation from my cousin, who is a Christchurch local, brought us to exploring New Regent Street and trying out Rollickin Gelato. I was pretty excited to try it out, especially after seeing the long queue waiting to get their hands on some tasty iced treats. Even though there was a crowd, and it was a clear tourist hot spot, I loved the community feel upon entering the little shop with the hand drawn A4 signs depicting the really funky menu, and the signage regarding the fundraising for various aspects of the community. The gelato flavours are so fun! We found a brownie take, one with anzac cookie, something with lemon and the Kiwi classic - the Hokey Pokey! Staff is here lovely, and they are super helpful with the decision making too. If in town, I highly recommend checking out the delicious treats at Rollickin!
There are two locations of this ice cream dessert cafe which is an indication of its popularity! I enjoyed the Anzac bikkie special flavour, delicious chunks of cookie against creamy ice cream.
Finally went to Rollickin after 'years' of contemplating visit (blame parking)! My favourite ice cream shop from when I visited onwards. They offer free sample and the flavours are great. They open late nights too which is a plus! Lines were surprisingly long for a late night but I guess that's just people trying to sober up. Seats were limited but the outdoor is an option (a little chilly but made the experience even better!). Loved my brownie and my dulce de leche ice cream! Will come back for sure ❤️
Staffs are also very kind. I feel sorry for them having to work that late but nonetheless they were superb all throughout. You all rock!
Definitely a must try. All the items we tried were very good. But one word of caution, as tempting it is to try many items, don't order too many items, as they are very filling.

Handdrawn gelato flavours with unique names and unique descriptions; we had the hokey tokey pokey flavor and it was delicious. The cone comes with a blue berry jam centre and added a twist of surprise for us at the end. Highly recommended if you are in Christchurch!
The gelato here is awesome, it tastes great. They have numerous dairy free (as well as gluten free and vegan) options which I appreciated!! I got the pomegranate and berries gelato and I would recommend it (DF, GF, vegan).
Been here visit a few times and definitely my fav gelato place in CHCH. The wide range of flavors they offer caters to various tastes and preferences.I particularly enjoyed their mango and no cow chocolate gelato flavors. The mango option provided a refreshing and tropical taste, while the no cow chocolate variant surprised me with its rich and creamy texture without any dairy.I also like the user-friendly app they had in place. It streamlined the ordering process and made it highly convenient to place an order without the hassle of paying in store(money directly debited from card).
The ambiance of the place was laid-back and relaxed, and you can taste a few flavours before making up your mind too. Five stars.
Took my daughters and a couple of there friends there last night the que was twenty deep, beautiful evening didn't mind the wait. Sat down stairs and took the time to enjoy a scoop.
Nice and creamy ice cream! Very busy and crowded so didn’t get to taste the flavour before ordering. Just had the salted caramel which was nice.
So delicious!! Great options and funky flavours. Had it on a chilly day and was still amazing. The berries and pomegranate was nice and fruity and not too sweet, would recommend if you want a light treat :)

I like food a lot, so coming here right from dinner was a silly idea. So I'm going to have to keep going back until I've tried everything!! My every waking thought since I was there, has literally been planning what I'll have next time I go.
