Service was excellent and well looked after. Glad I chose to come here to dine for my birthday. Our server was very attentive and provided complimentary drinks upon hearing it was my birthday. Ordered the 300g scotch and 200g beef fillet - both were great. Only disappointment was the wagyu roast potatoes. Came across kind of stale? Because of the way it was cooked. I was looking forward to something different as I love roast potatoes cooked in duck fat etc.
Best meal I ever had so far! Crazy how I've only tried this once, for sure not the last time though. Thoroughly enjoyed everything my friends and I had. Their steaks were so well done and so filling as well. The experience of being in Bloody Mary's were superb. Greatly and highly recommend! Will definitely be back!
Used the venue for 1 year old birthday celebration, food was great, services were great, big space. No BYO, cannot take alcohol outside the restaurant. Bit expensive but worth it.
The beef and lamb are halal here. The steak are okay. The side dish is less okay. The sourdough bread is good though. The service is a bit slow, we have to wait for almost one hour for our meal.
Great restaurant in central Christchurch. Wonderful meals, warm ambience, great service. What more could you want? There is a real country-lodge feel to “Bloody Mary’s”, with a familiar and cosy feel to it. The meals let the high quality ingredients do the talking, and my steak was cooked perfectly. Loved the lemon meringue pie, and the kingfish starter was fresh. Will definitely be back!
The ambience of the restaurant is great. The restaurant is located inside the hotel. I like the design and set up. With regards to the food, we ordered the 300g striploin in medium rare and panfried akaroa salmon. A bit disappointed with the steak as it was dry even though it was medium rare. The side which is garlic and thyme gratin was amazing. The salmon was presented well but the sauce is a bit watery texture, not sure if it should be like that. The salmon was a bit bland. Good thing the sauce and salt baked celeriac helps with the taste. It’s our first time trying out Bloody Mary’s and maybe we can try it again next time but not in the near future.
Breakfast buffet is amazing! Plenty of choices for sausages, bacon, scrambled eggs, croissants, toast, coffees, etc, just love it! Warm ambience dining, great service! Will definitely come back and try the dinner menu.
This is our third time coming to Bloody Mary's and it does not disappoint. The menu changes throughout the year which keeps it interesting. The decor and atmosphere are refined but relaxed. The customer service is always friendly, we are always looked after. The price point is higher than average, but that hasn't stopped us coming back, it just limits our visits to special occasions. Would highly recommend trying the rhubarb and strawberry crumble with custard, although everything else on the menu is amazing too.

My partner and I were flown to Christchurch on an Air NZ mystery weekend we were gifted and stayed at the Rydges. We were pleasantly surprised to find that Bloody Mary's was located within the hotel as we are big steak fans. The whole experience was amazing. the wait staff were excellent and professional and nothing was too big of an ask (including having our deserts plated up for room service so we could take them upstairs to eat later as we ate far too much at dinner LOL). Highlights were cold smoked venison (DIVINE), the kingfish crudo and their cocktails. I also highly recommend the Butchers Board. That was incredible! We were also lucky enough to be able to have breakfast here very morning of our 4 day stay as they have a full buffet every morning. There were so many amazing breakfast options - truly something for everyone and the wait staff kept it all nice and tidy and clean and well stoked throughout service. 100% would stay at the hotel again just to be able to have that breakfast every morning!
Had a pleasant dining experience at this place. Assistant shop manager "Gautum" did a wonderful hosting and when our food arrived, he came and checked on us to ensure all was well.
Fantastic personality and we enjoyed the meal.
Parking can be challenging, we manage to find a lot and park opposite the restaurant and walk over.
