After check in at the Quality Hotel Elms, we wandered downstairs and asked the front desk about nearby pubs with patios. The ‘concierge’? said, “we have a patio”. I said “I need craft beer that is not Heineken or Budweiser”. The concierge smiled and said “we have that”. I said “show me this goodness”. We sat outside on the Fig Restaurant and Bar patio for a few hours and ran the Monteith's brewery tap list. We were lucky in that this seemed to be the only pub/bar in the area that actually had a patio and we made the most of it. Beer was great. Service was great. I think they also ran the restaurant in the hotel but am not 100% sure so wont comment on the food.
A very nice restaurant. Has the advantage of being associated with the Elms Hotel.
First time had dinner at Fig on Papanui road. Had two entree ( chargrilled squid and Fig fried chicken) and two main ( pan fried market fish and chicken paillard)which made us full and unfortunately was no room for dessert.
Entree was good especially fried chicken was so so good. But the main meal was not for me. Pan fried fish came with a soup and the chicken was under cooked. Plating was pretty.
A hidden gem. We had a really enjoyable dinner. Friendly and thoughtful service from our waiter Alex. The kids meals were generous with a good variety to suit the palettes. The dish of the night for the adults was the rib eye which was full of flavour and cooked to perfection.
Not been here since covid, wow new menu and it was delish, started with chargrilled squid, followed by pork belly and finished with a refreshing berry dessert, great friendly service as always, look forward to coming back on a more regular basis 😁
Very nice surroundings. We shared a small snack that was very well presented. Really impressed with the service.
80 year olds birthday dinner, food fabulous, service fabulous and the venue perfect. Fantastic night.
we had christmas lunch at Fig. It was the best christmas we have had for years. The food and service were absolutely amazing. We will be going again and recommending it to others. We thought the price was a bit steep at first but after having the meal it was well worth it.
Atmosphere is great - relatively quiet music and able to hear the person you're dining with. Food quality was 9/10. Food portions quite small (definitely not worth the amount you pay for). Staff was friendly and accommodating. Our drinks arrived late and they took it off our bill which was very nice of them. I highly recommend the choc tart - would come here again and again for it :)
