The staff was friendly and funny. Food was amazing and with great value for money. Charcoal grilled sirloin was tender and juicy. Grilled chicken also great. Impossible to get such quality with this price from where we're from (Hong Kong), maybe needs 3 times the price.
Went on a Friday with a few others for dinner.
The food was cooked to a level that all enjoyed and was very well portioned matching cost.
Was not expecting all the other eateries in the same space and was a tad confusing at first.
Overall, very good and would go again.
Really nice food course in Christchurch. I would recommend to go there to eat something. If you like steak, el fogon Grill is the right address. Amazing steak and the price is also amazing.
They told us when we ordered that it will take approx. 25 minutes and it was even less and the steak was on point.
You can choose between different steak types, different sides and different souses.

We ordered mixed grill of assorted meat to share - well-marinated, full of spices, smokey flavour, complemented with traditional chimichurri sauce, nicely dressed salad, and crunchy chips. Reminded me of the time I had meaty Parrillas on a street in Buenos Aires. A glass of Mate would accompany it well.
One of the best steak houses I ever visited. I was impressed by its juiciness and tenderness on a glance and while cutting the meat. Pricewise, 37 dollars for 400g of Angus Ribeye sounds reasonable. Or else, you have other more affordable options which I have not tried and can not guarantee the outcome. It is definitely worth visiting here once if you are a traveler.
It was pretty good food. It took a long time. My friends all ordered from other stalls and had received and eaten their food a long time before mine was ready. Just something to consider if you are eating in a group
Amazing food that are consistently to a high standard! I order the same meal each time and the attention to detail from the chef, Juan, is top notch! Great service from him and the other staff. He is so good and even remembers that I dont like fat on my meat and cuts it off. Exceptional and highly recommended 😊
Little hidden gem tugged at the end of the little high eatery. We've only noticed it after numerous visits to the place. We had the sample template for one for $33 you can to experience 4 different grilled meat - beef, lamb, chorizo, chicken with a large side and a sauce. You can also add a side for extra dollars and add a sauce for extra $2 we had the spicy yogurt sauce it was amazing! Highly recommend.
The $16 lunch special is worth the money. Meat quality is average but the cooking skills compensate it, and we shall take into consideration that it's only $16. They charge $2 for spice / sauce, which would be great if provided for free.
El Fogon is our every Friday night date! We LOVE it! The food is always spot on. Perfectly cooked! The chef's are friendly and always go out of their way with their service. By Tuesday I am always hanging out for Friday for the El Fogon Fix!!!
