Best meal in New Zealand! So memorable that I went twice during my trip!! Seafood and vegetable-forward~ such flavor bombs & perfect with natural wine. Had the let us feed you option~ Service is warm and pleasing, team is very friendly & conversational which made this great meal even more enjoyable. Must go!!
Interesting and tasty selection. Very cosy and warm atmosphere. Seasoning on the strong side for me but I have a very bland diet. It's just around the corner of the hotel I am staying. Will definitely come again next time I am in Christchurch.
Plus, they happily accommodated my 3 and 5 years old kids who never sit still for more than 1 minute. Such a relief for me!
Tonight was a celebration of our 50th wedding anniversary and we flew in from Sydney this morning so looking forward to the ‘Gatherings’ experience. Both. Alex and Campbell made us so welcome and explained all options available on the menu. The fare offered made the choice so very diffficult as everything sounded amazing - and amazing it was. We have travelled a lot but this little restaurant with its superb staff and chef, could compete with any we have enjoyed throughout Europe . Absolutely amazing food, ambience and wine selection.
Make sure you book well in advance. This is an experience not to be missed.
Went for the 'Feed Me' option which is $68 per person. It was a delightful experience and very reasonably priced - every dish was delicious and innovative! I could really tell that the chef was passionate about each dish served. The crispy eggplants with the butter curry sauce was my favourite and blew my mind with the taste. Staff were also welcoming and knowledgeable. Very pleasant experience that I highly recommend

Amazing food here at Gatherings. The Let us Feed you option was so plentiful and meant we could all indulge in so many different things. The fish, the celery, clams and asparagus were my favourites and the bread with the garlic was sensational.
All the wines are natural which I enjoyed trying- not sure I am converted but it’s good to open your mind to doing something new.
The only little disappointment was we were rushed at the end. If you are only really finishing your mains with 10 mins left for dessert, that doesn’t give you reasonable time. I think on a Friday/Saturday night a minimum two hours should be given especially with a “feed us” option as one of the offerings. The staff were apologetic about it though and it won’t stop me from going back but I would probably book a later table to avoid it from happening. We managed to get into Londo next door to have more drinks so the night finished off well.
This is a very special place to meet. It's small but packed with all the things that make dining out such such a joy. A buzzing ambience and fresh, flavoursome local dare which is prepared with elegance and panache. For an amazing fine dining experience, Gatherings will not let you down.
We were happy that we managed to book a place in this tiny and saught-after place. The fish and titi were special and delicious. The only issue is that the bookings are limited to 1.5 and we got our food after 45 minutes. We felt the time pressure, which is not something that you necessary want with an experience of this sort.
A very amazing night with my partner to celebrate our 7th anniversary here. I love the langostine tails very much, it’s the similar flavor with Chinese cuisine.
Had the chef's selection, all the dishes were exquisite with a lot of depth in flavour. The star dishes were the flounder and the flatbread, the tamarillo and stracciacella was unquie and interesting. Look forward to trying their summer menu.
Some of the best food in Christchurch! Cassoulet is one hard dish to make properly, they even have cassoulet accredited restaurants in France, and this fish cassoulet was as good as those ones in France. Insanely tasty! I could eat that all day.
