Just dined tonight at Chang Thai at Hornby. Easy parking. Roomy restaurant and pleasant staff. The two of us shared a combo entree, generous variety. I had Green Curry main, medium heat, & rice. Delicious. Husband had stir fry chilli ginger pork with rice, standard heat, also tasty dish. Prompt service. Would go back again when in Chch.
Though small in size and casual, this restaurant is really lovely. My friends and I dined here last night and the food was delicious. Our waitress was very attentive and friendly and quick to take our orders. The entree's arrived fairly promptly with a small wait on the mains. Still, it was worth the wait when they did arrive and I even took a 'doggy-bag' home (which I found this a little odd as the waitress bagged this in front of us at our table rather than taking it away, hehe)! In fact, I'm eating it as I'm typing this, lol!
The only misgiving we had, every time people walked in through the sliding door, you could feel the cold air swooping through. I never took my jacket or scarf off the whole time I was there and I was still chilled. I still wouldn't hesitate to dine there again though.

It was the wonderful time here. These food were amazing and delicious, especially, all staffs were so nice and polite. I love it!!
I ordered the khao Soi, one complaint i have with places that do this dish is they add way too much coconut, or chilli, or lime, or they covert it into a thick curry when it's really supposed to be more of a soup but this one is probably the most reminiscent of the khao soi i had in chiang mai and the flavours were perfectly balanced with just the right amount of lime, cocount, salt, and chilli.
Great authentic Thai at affordable prices. We got the Red Curry, Satay Chicken & Roti, we were really happy with the food. The curry was nice and hot so definitely stick with medium or mild if you don't like chilli, heaps of veggies & a good size. The satay was the best I've had in a Thai restaurant in a while, and the roti was fluffy & hot.
Food tasted absolutely amazing but if you can't take the heat even medium is extremely hot. Order a mild one for medium heat
Have ordered from them lots of times if you want proof. Green curry, larb and tom yum are my favs. Portions are more than enough! Seasoning is good. Totally recommend! What i got served was nothing like the one star reviews π

About to go get my usual once or twice a week takeaway lunch from Chang Thai, in Shands Rd. Absolutely awesome staff and food quality.
When you no longer cook, Chang Thai are really great at feeding us all. Go try them out Hornby kiwis.π

Every week, sometimes twice a week I phone order my takeaway and collect it 20 minutes later. So convenient, since I rarely cook anymore.
The excellent service, always with a smile, will keep me going back each week.

Chang Thai Restaurant and Takeaway, Shands Rd Hornby (next to Hells Pizzas, cnr Shands Rd and Aymes Rd)
Great small restaurant that I have purchased at 2 times in the last week.
Food so delicious, fresh produce and cooked exceptionally well.
Have sampled sattay chicken with vegetables, sweet and sour prawns. On request the prawn tails were removed for me. So appreciated.
Being a small eater I get a lunchtime takeaway, which is no more than $16 and 2 meals for me.
When I have the opportunity I will take some of my grandchildren to eat in the restaurant.
Staff are absolutely awesome and so accommodating.
Go try them Hornby people. You won't be sorry you did. π
Iβm so surprise to find a local Thai restaurant which has the standard of Thailand in Here!! Must try all their noodle soup, and Thai Hot is really the one will shock you!
Prawn Tom Yum soap is very delicious! Very nice with rice noodles! Definitely recommended π
Small slightly dated wee restaurant. Food was delicious.
